If you want to peddle these instead of mining, may I remind that these are out of stock in Europe as well.
Except there the going price is 600-700€ or more per card. That comes to a minimum of $850 dollars.

Buy a card from Newegg and people in Europe will snatch it up in an instant if you sell it on eBay for 599€. You'll make a few hundred just by ordering stuff.

Yeah but selling anything of this value outside of the US can be risky due to the fact the only shipping method that will even provide you with the proper tracking to cover you with PayPal is USPS Express Mail and then you have to deal with customs and the buyer having to pay tax on a high dollar item makes it a very expensive purchase for them which once they see how much the tax will be may decide to refuse receiving it. Yes you can falsify the customs form and either undervalue it or mark it as a gift but you have to decide whether its worth it to risk getting caught. Packages can also get "lost" fairly easily going to certain countries in the world.

Selling within the US is a lot safer but even then on a $850+ sale you risk losing all the profit you make on multiple sales just from one PayPal claim against you. You would also have to deal with the fact that even the manufactures don't have 6990's for RMA without waiting weeks or months so if there is an issue with the card the buyer will be sending it back to you to take care of.

After eBay fees, PayPal fees, shipping and insurance cost your only looking at making around $75 if you sold it for $900.
25  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: XFX 6990 in stock @ TigerDirect! on: August 05, 2011, 07:55:51 PM
BTW,  I called XFX just now, and they said don't expect any to ship till the end of August.

I've had an order at Amazon for the XFX 6990 for over a month and still hasn't shipped yet and Newegg hasn't had anything since the last part of June so I wouldn't expect TigerDirect to get ahold of more than a handful of these at best.
26  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: XFX 6990 in stock @ TigerDirect! on: August 05, 2011, 06:35:24 PM
I spoke with TigerDirect customer service earlier this morning to find out if these cards were actually in stock and was told that they were not and that the manfuacturers eta for receiving their shipment was next week and that they were expecting 30 in stock. I called again here just a little while ago to confirm that response and was simply told their system showed that they were on backorder. So keep in mind that what you guys are buying is a pre-order for cards they may or may not get and that these are not actually in stock. TigerDirect is notorious for taking a bunch of orders for items they can't fulfill.

Sorry to say that, but that looks strangley photoshoped....

The only Photoshoping to that photo was resizing and sharpness. Anyone that needs more pics to confirm the products in hand prior to purchase just let me know.

The "slip of paper" with your user name, site, and date, look extremely photoshopped. Might want to use a real piece of paper, preferably with pencil, or some background color/pictures

Alright well I'll try to take a better group photo of the cards I have tomorrow that looks less "Photoshoped" for you guys.

Hi,
You will ship to EU? I have a PayPal with a Confirmed Address.
Regards,
Saykor

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'm only shipping these within the States. Thanks

If you open the card your warranty will be lost even if XFX states lifetime

XFX allows removing of the stock cooler to replace it with a waterblock or aftermarket TIM as long as you put the stock cooler back on if you send it in for warranty.

33  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: further improved phatk OpenCL Kernel (> 3% increase) for Phoenix - 2011-07-17 on: July 19, 2011, 04:43:58 PM
Unless you have a good reason for needing to use Poclbm over Phoenix, which I can't currently think of one, then there's no point in running Poclbm over Phoenix when Phoenix is faster.

Backup pools. Its a big plus (and peace of mind).

Also, for me poclmb is slightly faster than phoenix with the same kernel.

Can't you just create another Phoenix miner on a different pool with a low aggression value and it will take over if your main pool worker goes idle?

Can you make another version that includes all the recent changes and __init__.py does not need to changed?
thanks

Why?  Just unzip in the kernels/phatk/ directory.

Main reason is some people like to use this kernel with poclbm. The 7-11 works, but the newest doesn't because it requires changes in __init__.py which is specific to phoenix. BOARBEAR is asking for a version that includes all the additional improvements since 7-11 that doesn't require any changes to __init__.py.

It is impossible to create a version of this kernel that works without modifications in the main miner software. As I wrote, there are values and variables, that the kernel uses and which are precalculated in the miner software and then passed as parameters to the kernel. A miner, which doesn't pass the required parameters will not work without beeing modified, sorry.

You guys are free to mod the kernel for yourself to revert the changes, which require a modded miner software and only take the ones, which can work without.

Dia
what I meant was, excluding the changes that needs the modification of __init__.py can you release a version that has all the other changes?

35  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How many of you are using a desk/table fan to help cool your GPU's? on: July 15, 2011, 09:27:48 PM
Thanks for the suggestion but that thing will be louder than the fans on these 6990's at 48 dB and it won't push anywhere near the CFM of a table fan.
36  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Anyone else using a desk/table fan to help cool your GPU's? on: July 15, 2011, 08:39:11 PM
I'm looking to pick up a new desk fan for helping to cool the two 6990's in my main rig and just thought I'd ask if you guys who are using them had any suggestions on particular brands and models of fans you've found to work well for this type of application.

I have a 9" table fan now that pushes a good amount of air and drops my 6990's temps a solid 10C but it vibrates the desk quite a bit when set on high so I was looking at getting something larger in the 12-16"+ range that pushes high CFM while still being quiet enough to sleep with running since the rig is in my bedroom.

What type of fans are some of the rest of you guys using on these hot running cards?
37  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Setting up ventilation in room for 4 rigs with 3 6990's per rig on: July 14, 2011, 04:20:19 PM
sustained temps below 50F can bring unwanted moisture.  unless of course you live in an arid location.

just something to think about other than the heat issue...

'monkey

Add a dehumidifier to the room to draw out the moisture in the air.
38  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I just bought this awesome exhaust fan on: July 13, 2011, 09:26:05 PM
Those things are usually screamers. How much does it lower your GPU temps to have it installed?
39  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best drivers for 6950 windows on: July 13, 2011, 09:22:36 PM
11.7 are the best not just because of performance but because you no longer need dummy plugs to run multiple cards.
40  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What temps do you keep your GPUs at? on: July 13, 2011, 09:21:36 PM
I try to keep my 6990 clocked at 950Mhz at around 80C and it usually runs 77C-84C depending on ambient temp which my room gets pretty warm at times. I can get temps down in the low 70's though if I use a desk or tower fan to blow on it.
