1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [UFO] CORE 0.18.1 RELEASED! on: June 24, 2021, 10:03:01 PM
Bought some UFO coins today- mainly because of the name of this token... I know that it's unrelated to unidentified flying objects, aliens and such stuff- BUT...
There's a reprot about UFOs coming out tomorrow in the U.S- it is being highy anticipated by many Mystery- and SciFi- fans.... maybe some of them have the same thought and also want to buy a coin with this name- as the UFO topic will gain popularity with this report- you never know!
The other coin on the cryptomarket, that is called "UFO", seems to be a dead project- only this one is still alive!
Hopefully, my way of thinking was not too far- fetched... we'll see!

Greetings, CryptoBroker

ah ok- thank you for your reply- so it's much harder (if not impossible) to do the same attack against the BEAM network- sounds good! This point could also be communicated better to the public- so that your coin doesn't get dragged down the same way, it was the case with GRIN.
Shilled as the "perfect privacy coin", Beam first managed to go up to about 7 Euros per coin- but since that privacy attack, it got dumped down to about 1k sat and below that.... you should really try to emphasize the privacy advantages that it has in contrast to GRIN- imho!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BEAM | Mimblewimble | Private | Scalable | No ICO | No Pre Mine on: January 12, 2021, 11:10:01 AM
yes, it's very nice that you are building a mobile app for BEAM and that you are currently doing a lot of updates and whatsoever....
BUT- that doesn't answer my question:

COULD YOU ALREADY UPDATE THE MIMBLEWIMBLE BLOCKCHAIN FOR BEAM TO PREVENT FURTHER PRIVACY HACKS - OR CAN YOU DO SO IN THE FUTURE?

Talking clear- text, I mean THAT hacker attack on the mimblewimble protocol:

https://bitcoinist.com/mimblewimble-attacked-using-60-per-week-on-aws/

(this is an important point, as the whole privacy and anonymity, Beam should provide depends on this question.....!!!)
I would be pleased to get an aswer from your team about this point- as I'm thinking of buying some more Beam coins. If you can't answer it, I must write down my previous investment (just a few 100 Euros so far) as lost and must move on to an other coin for investing... Huh
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BEAM | Mimblewimble | Private | Scalable | No ICO | No Pre Mine on: January 07, 2021, 01:12:40 PM
As I have heard, there was an issue concerning the mimblewimble blockchain- a hacker managed to break the privacy of the mimblewimble addresses in Grin. As Beam uses the same mimblewimble cryptosystem, its something that beam should also be worried about!
My question: Since that anti privacy- hack, have there any measures been set to prevent such hacks in the future? Is it anyhow possible to update the mimblewimble protocol for beam to prevent that in the future or does your team have any plans to do so?
Cause with the permanent risk of being spyed out by such an attack, this blockchain wouldn't give users more privacy than the privacy coins that have already  established themselves on the crypto market... and no benefit to the other privacy coins would mean that beam would not be able to compete with coins like ZCash or Monero, who also promise privacy to their users.... Huh
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook's Libra - Implications. on: June 17, 2019, 05:31:29 PM
I've heard, facebook's cryptocurrency, Libra, should become a stablecoin.... but how can they ensure that it stays stable, if it's traded on a market and the value of it depends on demand and supply? If it gets rare, it will become expensive, no matter if it's backed by fiat currencies (this fact could help the coin not to fall below a certain value)- but who guarants that it won't get 10 times the price of it's underlying currencies? This cryptocurrency still has an independent price that is dictated by the market, if listed on an excahnge then- and not by facebook! Cool... it only can get stable, if the number of coins is not fixed- but this is a vital point in all cryptocurrencies!!

Hello!

I've heard, there will be a hardfork of beam soon, is that right? Does bitmesh exchange support this hardfork? I have never worked with a beam wallet- I only have my coins stored on the exchange so far. Which wallet can you recommend? Is there a user-friendly wallet, with which I can easily restore my coins fom the private key alone, when e.g. my computer breaks down, or data gets lost by a virus? On the beam website, I found some very complicated instructions how to restore a wallet with the private key- with bitcoin electron wallet this is very easy- so is here also a simple way to save and after that restore a broken wallet?

What happened to the coin prize? From 1300 sats down to about 600?? Huh It seems that people are playing the "how deep can it go until it's cheap enough for someone to buy all the coins" - game... and the only winner of this game is (hopefully) the guy who takes all the cheap coins then! This game is too risky for me... The team making progress with Taurion and Soccer Manager makes it even riskier! I think, Hodling is much safer at the moment than selling! (just my opinion about this)
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] XAYA True Blockchain Gaming - Decentralised Realities on: April 03, 2019, 11:44:46 AM
Just got word from the Xaya forums that Soccer Manager Elite is moving along well!
Seems that CHI will be needed to buy SME coins. Which in turn are needed to participate in SME and to buy assets in-game.

https://forum.xaya.io/forum/22-general/

And Soccer Manager has over 15 million users..... wow.
https://www.soccermanager.com/

Additionally, as we know from other blockchain games on the ethereum blockchain (e.g. "Crypto Kitties"), virtual items can become almost as valuable as real items -the most expensive virtual cat changed its owner for 170.000$ (US-Dollars!) NO JOKE!!! So you can imagine, how much value will be generated by a professional football club, which in real life has a value of some 100 Mio.Dollars. If you really need CHI to buy SMC coins, and their economy (all 300 clubs together plus all items you can buy there) will be once worth about 50 millions of dollars, I know what I have to do for the next years: HODL, HODL and again: HODL  Grin and after hodling:BTCBTCBTC Grin Cool (just my opinion)

Soccer Manager promised the participants of the ICO to get the same amount SME coins as they bought CHI coins.... when and how will we get the SME coins now? Furthermore, they promised us access to a special player that only ICO participants have access to... how do I get access to that bonus now?

The SME coins will get sent to your presale address once SME is released. Due to the change in how the game works, the legendary player offer will be going complex to implement, so there is still some work to be done.

yes, this will be difficult, because there is not so much need for players, as the number of football clubs was decreased to only 300... but perhaps we get something else in this game- perhaps shares from a virtual football club, or some other bonus... I'm looking forward to be surprised by them! Wink

everything goes up, beam just keeps going down & down.. whos dumping? theres no way gpu miners keep the price falling so hard.. devs selling or asics? something is not right..

this is a conversation we have had innumerable times. yes, it is miners mining with GPU. Next...

so beam has the most miners mass selling at a break even price? yeah sure, im a miner & have one of europes lowest costing electricity. gpus barely break even at this low on beam doubt it’s gpus dumping..

i find it weird how both mw projects have lost 50% of their value in past month while btc has been gaining. at this rate we see sub 10 cent in no time when btc plummets again.

maybe a proper exchange would bring some resistance, at the moment theres only one with volume & even thats mostly fake.
Which exchange do you mean with "mostly fake volume"? Can you recommend bitmesh for trading with beam? I was on chainrift till now, but as I see now, volume there has dropped dramatically... so is bitmesh better? or is the volume shown there mostly fake volume?

I heard thatthere is a team of developers behind this cryptocurrency... they get a part of the transaction fee for their work. I think this is absolutely ok... noone wants to work for free!
But I have one question: Does this mean this cryptocurrency is dependent on their team? If the team would stop working one day for some reason, would this cryptocurrency still work? Or would there then be problems, e. g. that the network would partially stop working, no more updates for security and so on... so without the people from this team... could beam survive as cryptocurrency?

Team are committed to making Beam a success. This scenario isn't going to happen.

Yes, I also think so... Team Beam does a good job and I believe there is a big need for this privacy coin. The best thing here is the low inflation rate - compared to Grin! it was just a theoretical question- I wanted to know if this cryptocurrency is fully dependent on this team or if other people also can add features, updates etc. to this cryptocurreny... ?

There will be 262, 8 million beam in total accoridng to coingecko. com... current supply is only about 3,2 million coins... if this coin will once have 1 billion market cap, the price will be about 4 euros when all coins are mined. I think, 10 billion marketcap are realistic as a long term price target if this coin is successful...

Mate, seems you just dreaming. I wnted to buy some tokens, but seems price overvalued already. ETH have 11 billions cap right now.

Dreaming?  Roll Eyes If you assume, that during the next crypto hype, the market cap of ETH will be up to $500 billion (or even more), then, if this coin isn't a complete failure, it will have a few percent of the market cap of ETH! If you don't believe in any further crypto hypes, it's better to keep your hands off from crypto currencies and let other people make money without you   Cool
Of course, before this happens, according to my calculation, the minimum price here could be 10 euro cents per coin or even below that!

Haha, 10 billion market cap  Grin. Be more realistic, if Beam will have market cap like ZCASH it would be a success for Beam. So 1$ for Beam is a fair price I think.

unrealistic? price of all zcash end of 2017 was 2 billion usd... until now, every crypto hype has been 10 times bigger than the previous one. If the next one is only 5 times bigger than 2017/2018, then 10 billions wouldn't be such a big surprise!

yes, i read a lot of bad reviews about hotbit and other exchanges in the internet... and now I see that people in this forum confirm what I read. That's why I use chainrift for beam trades... didn't realize any fake trades there yet!

So, bought a couple of beam too!  Cool I had to consider wheter I should choose beam or grin as well, but in the end, I decided to buy beam- grin simply will have a much higher inflation rate in the first few years.
And my favourite exchange for trading beam is chainrift- only little volume- but I heard too much negative reviews about many other exchanges that offer the beam coin... chainrift has the best reviews there! There are especially big concerns about security or even scam going on on some exchanges with- of course- bigger volume than chainrift....

So, I need to download the new XAYA client, right? And I can't use the old client anymore? Will the CHI addresses stay the same with the new client? Do I have to make a new backup or does the old backup of my wallet still work with the new hardfork?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] XAYA 🌟True Blockchain Gaming 🌟 - HardFork Update before block 440k on: December 10, 2018, 12:45:15 PM
I've just heard that there will be a hard fork... so you get coins of a new cryptocurrency for every old coin... what is the name of the new cryptocurrency then? Will the old chi coins become worthless after the hard fork? Or did I understand something completely wrong here..  Huh Huh And where do I get the new coins??
