161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT IS YOUR OTHER CHOICE FOR INVESTMENT AFTER BITCOINS? on: December 11, 2014, 05:11:37 PM
The only two.  Bitcoin and Litecoin.  Some say they are both dead or one is dead.   Split up your investment portfolio to both.   70/30 mix if you are not a fan of litecoin (for whatever reason).  Don't fall for the other crap.
162  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Pump of December 10th & 11th - a few concerns on: December 11, 2014, 03:47:32 PM
You are right.

Pumps are becoming more ridiculous day after day, and I think most people bought based in false news and impressions, and will dump as soon they realize it(wont take long)

Exactly.  The only one who is going to lose money here are any new hands that invested within the last 6-8 months.  It will leave a bitter taste in their mouth that is for sure.
163  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Pump of December 10th & 11th - a few concerns on: December 11, 2014, 03:23:51 PM

Microsoft recently add one more way to accept USD from bitpay company, however many fake news about "it is accepting bitcoin" came out and some of us buy this troll,

The bitcoin price is going to crash even harder after this "delay" caused by fake news same as PayPal made their announcement, you know what happened about the price crash

Microsoft does not accept bitcoin
Microsoft does not hold any bitcoins you pay to bitpay company
Crash incoming!

Right... the business itself is not accepting payment.   Just using a mechanism (such as Bitpay) to get more money from alternate means.

PayPal was not incredible news... and it corrected itself a day or two after.   So many people bought into that crap hype too...
164  Economy / Speculation / The Great Pump of December 10th & 11th - a few concerns on: December 11, 2014, 03:11:48 PM
With the immediate news of Microsoft accepting Bitcoin for digital goods on the Windows Phone and Windows Store marketplace it was amazing to see that China lead the pump.  This was something I have not seen in a while and was fun to be a part of.

There is only one problem....

It went up about $17 dollars...  If this was 2011/2012 we would of seen the price skyrocket Mt. Gox style.   So - with that indicator.  I knew China was going to dump before their work shift ended (4PM China time) and here we are back to the $350 level.  Why is that?   I think the reason has to do with people that entered the pump were shorting the whole time (sub 350) and re-entered the market.  That action is all we got.  At the end of the day - there is no new money coming into Bitcoin otherwise the price would be steadily climing this morning with the news.   Its 10AM EST as of this post and price is moving sideways.

TLDR;  There is no new money.  Expect this to go down before or on the weekend.
165  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market price and speculation around the price drop (December 9th 2014) on: December 10, 2014, 05:08:47 PM
Okay well back on topic, We are in a pretty tight range & will continue to trade largely sideways probably until the year ends...
Plenty of money to be made here... Looks like we hit a wall & I see almost 3k coins willing to be bought at $330
A bounce is expected, probably to 400 maybe more, then we will come back to test this 350 level again.
I covered my shorts yesterday once we got into the 340 range, Looks like this accumulation will continue for a while so I am starting to nibble in the area in case of another run to $470+

I have been shorting as well....  I went back in at 344 and sold off yesterday at 346.... Waiting to re-enter - I thought we were going to fall again and from the looks of it we are simply going sideways.   I might buy on the low end today.   Hopefully.

anyone having luck with the sp31 or ship date on sp35?

My SP31s are working great.   What exactly do you need to know?

167  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market price and speculation around the price drop (December 9th 2014) on: December 09, 2014, 05:21:51 PM
That must be because you are The Manipulator.

Whoa there cowboy.   I ain't trying to manipulate anything.

For every public BTC address, there is 2 to the power of 96 private keys that FIT. - True or false rumors?

This is true.

There are also significantly more than 2^255 private keys that DO NOT fit.

This means that if you choose a private key at random, you have a 1 in 1.46X1048 chance of choosing the private key of a specific address that you are attempting to attack.

That's a 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000068% chance of success. (6.8X10-47%)

Of course it is impossible for there to EVER be more than 251 bitcoin addresses that simultaneously have a balance in them (specifically there will never be more than 2,099,725,475,410,000 addresses that simultaneously have a balance in them).

Thanks for clearing this up... I just kept on reading this morning about people talking about this and making it seem like it is breaking news.

Cheers

There is also speculation/rumor that just came out - For every public BTC address, there is 2 to the power of 96 private keys that FIT. - True or false rumors?

link? or else you're just a bear spreading fud
thanks

That is what I am trying to figure out here..... Looks like we have a rebound on the way?
170  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market price and speculation around the price drop (December 9th 2014) on: December 09, 2014, 04:14:16 PM
What is causing this to happen?  Seriously?  There has really been no bad news yesterday except for the fact blockchain.info got hacked NOT the blockchain itself.  I don't think this is manipulation or China going crazy.   I think people are getting out or getting out for holidays?

There is also speculation/rumor that just came out - For every public BTC address, there is 2 to the power of 96 private keys that FIT. - True or false rumors?

Any comments/feedback appreciated.   I think we are all bears at this point.

Who said price is going down?  It has been going up for me?  Do you have any valid information other than just saying price is going down?

It appears that price is going back up.  Rebound in the last 30 minutes or so... Right when I posted this?  Thoughts?

Yes. It is true. There are ~ 2160 addresses and ~ 2256 private keys
256 - 160 = 96

So.  With that said.  Can you explain this in english to people that don't understand?  I think we need to make people aware of this....

Thanks
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: scrypt asics - what one have you ordered or using? on: December 09, 2014, 03:54:09 PM
They're all horrifically overpriced. I'm out of the mining game until prices come back in line with reality...which may be never.

I saw that... some 200+/MH miners for 2,000/5,000USD?  That is insane.  No thanks.   Price does need to go down - they are all smoking glue or something....

Subject says it all - who here has one of the latest scrypt asics?   I was wanting to gather some more information and get some review in this thread.   Thanks in advance.

SP35 hashing video: http://vimeo.com/113517265

A real crowd pleaser ... looks like it mines very quietly, couldn't hear a sound  Grin

I'm guessing it will be no different than an SP30\31. Fans at 90% in this demo.

When I installed my SP31's they ran default @ 70%

To the SP20 owners.  Question - Are you happy with it?  Any objections?  Given current difficulty?  BTC yield?   Are you in it mainly for the hobbyist factor VS going a mini farm?

177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you buy on Bitcoin Black Friday? on: December 02, 2014, 05:52:08 PM
Nothing with my bitcoin, but i spent some fiat for xmas gifts
Its hard to do shopping with bitcoin in France ....not a lot of choice

That is a big problem everywhere.  Adoption and simplicity needs to come first.

Congrats - you are insane to have that many tabs open in chrome BTW Wink
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Scrypt ASIC mining on: December 01, 2014, 08:35:15 PM
Who here has?   If  you can provide me with some links of reliable suppliers/manufacturers that would be great.

I am assuming they are all pre-sale too?

Thanks in advance
