warning my friends and family to avoid BFL like a disease-infested hooker, I'll take my leave of this thread. :-)
I should have listened to this post before placing an order. It's been almost 7 months since I ordered and paid for my miner and still nothing. Even their own customer service's blog (BFL_Jody) is false. They claim they have shipped ordered that they have not.
Now they have the audacity to ask for more money to upgrade to their newest miner. I'm so done with this company and based on the response on their own forums, so are hundreds of other customers. There is no SINGLE POSITIVE post that I came across in the customer service section.
If you're thinking of ordering from these people, trying calling them to see if you can get an actual person on the phone. Then read a page or so from their forums. Then if you still think they will deliver on time or provide any customer service, go ahead and order.
Someone mentioned a "small but vocal" group of unsatisfied customers. Based on past experience and BFL's own forums, I would say the vast majority of their customers are angry and vocal about being lied to and mistreated.

I had such high hopes for this company when I placed my order in March. They kept saying they would ship in a couple of months, but it's October now and still nothing. You CANNOT call anyone and they don't respond to emails anymore. They have a blog with a so called shipping status, but it's not based on reality. They claim they have shipped orders dated late March, but mine hasn't even gone into production and I placed my order at the beginning of March.
Do yourself a favor and avoid dealing with these clowns. Don't believe me, go read the horror stories on their own forum. Critical posts mysteriously disappear regularly, but they can't delete all the negative comments because there would be nothing left.

DrHaribo,
Have you set up a donation mechanism? I want to support you and your miner. It just runs and runs without any issues or many rejections. The only time I had a problem, it was caused by the terrible Catalyst driver upgrade procedure.
Thanks, Ali

What is your "Power Control" setting in Catalyst Control Center? It's under Performance->AMD Overdrive. Just wanted to say hi. Moved one of my smaller rigs over to Bitminter to try it out. I like where you're going with this. It is a 6950 with a ..slight.. overclock. I'm seeing almost EXACTLY the same M/H as I did with guiminer/poclbm ~378 Mhps.
Will check out the IRC channel see if I can catch anyone there.

I've been using Bitminter for the past 3 months. I think there was a problem with Catalyst 11.8 or the upgrade to that version. Since I updated the drivers to 11.9 this morning, it's been running fine. The two times the program stopped working, it did so after less than 200 proofs. Right now, it's up to 508. I think I'll keep the OC setting where they are now and see if the problem occurs again. If it does, I'll lower my settings. Im pretty sure it is the overclock. I get 100% the same thing if I overclock too far. Overclocks dont last forever, as the card gets older and more abused, max stable overclocks get lower. Also, bitminterIts a different app as what you used previously, uses the gpu differently and more efficiently than most other miners, that means more heat and more stress. Trust me, just try reducing your clocks. I bet you a bitcoin the problem will disappear.

I've been running with this setting for over 3 months with no problems. I doubt is the OC because this problem has never occurred before. My temp rarely gets to 70, and that's only when the ambient temp is over 85.

Sorry, I got two things mixed up. I thought the "Work units started on" was the "Spare work units on hand" because they share the same icon. Yes, the power meter gets stuck on a value and does not change. Catalyst recently offered to upgrade to 11.8 and I let it. Something may have gone wrong during the upgrade. I downloaded 11.9 from AMD and installed it manually. Hopefully it will fix the issue. Having more proofs of work than work units is actually pretty good. But I guess the screenshot was taken shortly after things locked up.
Does the power meter get stuck at the same value as well? If so, I guess it is drivers locking up like you suggested, DeathAndTaxes. I'll put that on my TODO list - detect GPU driver locking up, and possibly try to restart.

Hi, There is something wrong with the new client. After working for a few minutes, it stops working. The program doesn't crash, but it just sits there without any error messages. The number in the "Work units started on" keeps going up, but "Proofs" don't increase. I shut down and restarted my computer, but it happened again. Thanks, Ali

The new client looks good. Now I can keep it in performance mode and still be able to see the number of units completed and start/stop the operation. For the next update, is it possible to add a minimize to tray option? Thank you for all the work. Ali

How is the approximate mint speed calculated? I understand it's just a guess, but was curious to know what factors are taken into consideration. The speed was pretty close when we got paid for the third block, but the fourth block's payment is about 1/3 of what I had expected based on the mint speed. This is probably due do the increase in the number of participant, but my mint speed has not changed.

Along the same lines, I was under the impression there were a significant number of people who only get ~360 out of 6970's... Is that not true? Am i doing something wrong? I followed all the advice in this thread, but phoenix only boosts it to ~370-380.
I thought it was my newer pcb design causing my comparative slowness. I found there are two reference board designs, and the second generation seemed to be the only thing i could get toward the end of may when i bought. Ideas?
Did you change the "Power Control" settings in AMD's Catalyst driver and overclock your card? I have a newer 6970 and get 420.

Hmmm, I wonder how long it will take to find a block since we don't have that much hashing power My guess is once every couple of weeks.

This is a very nice guide. I'm sure it will be helpful to new miners.

So, who is the lucky recipient of the donation?

Make sure you set the "Power Control" setting in AMD Catalyst to +20%. If I leave mine at 0, I get a speed increase up to 900 MHz, but then the speed goes down. With the "Power Control" setting at +20%, I can overclock to 950 with 70 degree temps and 420 Mhps using the bitminter client. Check out this thread: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=22432.0

How do you set your memory to 350? I use MSI's Afterburner and I can only go down to 685.

:-) as i side very good package 11.7, currently play wow and lotro, and never lockedup, also the lowering of mining performance is not that high, 732-735 is lowered to 676-690 mhs during play.
Me too. I just installed 11.7 and my computer no longer locks up when I try to play back video, both local and web flash.

I'm in the top 10! I better enjoy it before the pool gets bigger.
