1  Other / Off-topic / Re: How motivate yourself to work? on: August 25, 2018, 10:28:34 AM
the messages on this thread have been very motivating to me. I will also add a few of my own. 1. work for  s set period of time, the pomidoro method. where you set an alarm for 25min and you do nothing else but work for 25min. I have been using this method for the last year to help me sit down and write my articles and it has greatly improved my performance. 2. when you start  working know exactly what you plan to do, have a result by the end of your set working time. if you only have 20min for example then do an activity or part of an activity that you will be able to finish in that time.
2  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cryptocurrency is Great, But How Many Persons Know That? on: August 24, 2018, 02:29:28 AM
I agree that the ability of cryptocurrency to greatly increase your wealth is big. but remember that it is still an investment product and it even more greatly depends on the investor if he/she will turn his investment into a profit. the market is only as good as the person in the market place, it is more person based than performance based. if an investor has a good strategic plan and know why he is in this business and has a  good understanding of the current market situation, then yes he can become quite successful in this type of market.
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Why spend time in bitcoins? on: August 23, 2018, 02:43:40 AM
if you have invested in bitcoin then I think thats it is just normal for you to want to follow up and know what is happening with your investment. it is also important to follow up on all other digital currencies so that you can compare and make informative choices. Bitcoin and all other digital currencies are another way of investment, another way of making money - so why not invest your time in something that could possibly make you rich in the future. I think people are also interested in bitcoin because it is something  new age and had a lot of potential, many do not want to be left behind.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: So many cryptocurrencies ! on: August 22, 2018, 03:15:06 AM
there are quite a large number of digital currencies available in the market today, and I guess more are being created every day and trying to make it in the stock market. I  would suggest  investing in the most popular ones since as a  basic rule they are the ones that have performed the best over time. But before you decided to invest I suggest you read up as much as possible on the coins that you plan to invest in so that you understand he nature of this market and that you make an informative decision. this way you stand a better chance of making it in this environment.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Current cryptocurrency market situation on: August 21, 2018, 12:25:39 PM
currently things are on a downward trend for bitcoin and all other digital currencies. but this is the normal cycle of the market. first it goes up and then goes down then  eventually it will go back up again and so on and so forth. therefore there is no need to panic and start thinking and making decisions that you might regret later. just remember the market fluctuates and therefore you should be patient and don't forget why you started investing in the first place.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market is GREEN - Do you trust it on: August 20, 2018, 04:14:05 AM
Its not a matter of trust or not trusting, bitcoin is an investment product and it fluctuates because of human emotions. when its cheap and popular everyone buys it - so the price dramatically goes up, so less people start buying it and then it goes down - then people start selling because they presume that it will continue to go down forever  - then when it gets cheaper start buying again. its like an emotional roller coaster. but if you understand the nature of this investment you see that it is a long term investment and that you need o hold for at least a few years before you can make a profit.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: August 15, 2018, 05:39:38 PM
it's always hard to use one dimension to present a variety of contradictory slants, but in short I am center right in the context of the UK and very left wing in the USA.

I hold two opinions that while not mutually exclusive, create a number of powerful contradictions. I'm not great with political terms and my opinions are somewhat complex, I'm happy to accept that I may be wrong, confused or inconsistent and welcome comments.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Politics is not necessary?! on: August 09, 2018, 04:53:24 PM
This is what came to my mind:
Why are Principals and Directors necessary in schools and colleges?
Why are Directors, Presidents, CEOs, CIOs, Vice Presidents etc... necessary in organizations or enterprises?
Why are Medical Superintendents necessary in Hospitals?
Well, I could go on and on, the list would grow.
In all these entities politics is necessary.

But the fact is that each organization needs:
-well defined set of policies and procedures
-a group of managerial cadre of experts who are responsible for ensuring compliance to policies and procedures
-a group of experienced experts who decide the future strategies for growing and sustaining the business

Hence politics is necessary for administration of the affairs of a nation / country. Politics handles both internal and external affairs.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SHOULD CITIZENS WHO DON'T PAY TAXES BE ALLOWED TO VOTE? on: August 07, 2018, 07:11:31 PM
es, non-taxpayers should be allowed to vote. Voting is for everyone and if we start limiting the voting process because someone did not pay taxes that year, then we are really devaluing the voting process in America. It is your right to vote or not so lets not start putting restrictions on that.
10  Economy / Speculation / Study Shows Forum Comments Can Predict Bitcoin’s Price with Over 80% Accuracy on: July 31, 2018, 02:42:05 PM
A research paper entitled “When Bitcoin encounters information in an online forum: Using text mining to analyse user opinions and predict value fluctuation” was published last year. Those interested can read the research paper here: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0177630#sec001

Do you agree with their finding that forum user comments can predict bitcoin’s price fluctuation with more than 80% accuracy?
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is science a religion? on: July 30, 2018, 07:55:31 PM
To some definitions of a religion, science can be considered a religion. Science is clearly not, the service and worship of God or the supernatural. But, another definition of religion is a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.
One can show that the adherents of science put their faith in it to reveal the Truth about the (observable) universe. But, there is also a faith and orthodoxy in accepting some unproven or unprovable theories, especially in the realms of cosmology. Is it a system of beliefs? Yes. Is it held to with ardor? Yes. Is there a component of faith in the unproven? Yes.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: SHOULD WE KEEP THE PENNY on: July 29, 2018, 07:56:11 PM
Lots of reasons to keep the penny!! We should keep the penny! I believe this because...

1. Prices will increase
if we get rid of the penny, store owners, and merchants will have to round UP to the nickel, forcing the buyer to pay MORE! And trust me it all adds up.

2. Charities need pennies
where would penny charities be without pennies? The answer is: not where they are today, that is for sure! Just think, the pennies you find in jars, under the couch, and every where are now useless. You cant use them to donate!

3. Parents and allowances
my parents used to give me money in pennies when I was a young child. Pennies help children learn about money, counting ,and math.
13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why people don't vote? on: July 28, 2018, 02:23:16 PM
I dunno, I think a lot of the youth just aren't interested, which is sad.

My teachers all of my school career have, believe it or not, have tried to discourage my student body to not vote. They always told us it wouldn’t matter anyway, which is so not true.
It’s called disenfranchisement, for instance it’s going on right now with the Ike victims. People are telling them they aren’t allowed to vote since they no longer have a residence, but in reality all they need to do is list their current shelter as their current residence and there’s no problem, but people are tying to tell them otherwise.
14  Other / Off-topic / Re: Self-hate is a disease on: July 27, 2018, 01:51:36 PM
Yes it is.
When the feeling of self-hatred and anxiety becomes too strong, there is a risk of engaging in destructive behaviours to deal with or numb the unpleasant feelings. Cutting or otherwise damaging the skin can be a way to relieve the anxiety and to punish the body as well. A person with self-hatred can get the feeling that the body needs to be purified. Eating disorders and abuse of alcohol and drugs are other ways to attack the body. It is also possible to develop suicidal thoughts.

Self-hatred and destructiveness cause a person to withdraw. Isolating oneself is a way to conceal one’s state of mind and behaviours. It is common to feel ashamed and then feel even worse because of this. Perhaps the person feels that they do not even deserve to feel happy. This can make them stop caring about, or even avoid things that would make them feel better, such as good food, good sleep, exercise and socialising with others.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Humans are virus for the earth? on: July 26, 2018, 09:04:46 AM
Filling ourselves with self loathing wont solve the problem Humanity has the potential to achieve beautiful outcomes. We are creative and caring beings and many of us love the planet that we call home.
To suggest that we are nothing but hateful and destructive and to turn that belief inwards on ourselves and outwards to others, leads to nothing but hate and destruction.
We need a new narrative to frame our existence on this planet and to guide us in how to treat it. You have to do that from a position of hope surely?
