For adding POS mining we have to make hard fork, there is no other way. But we won't revert any block. Benefits for the devs? We're working on this project from 1 year and we didn't sold any single coin.

What do you think about using premined (genesis) coins in a POS systems, it is the same as cloud free mining, mining without having any cost?
It seems that you are replacing a problem with another problem, but you personally benefit from this.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: October 24, 2018, 07:12:44 AM
It seems that for the past weeks, the webdollar network has been exploited. This is huge news. Cannot believe the devs were hiding this. This is great for adoption, really.

Many CPU coins are mining in cloud and we don't agree this. Is not normal to mine without having any cost.
What ? Cheesy
Why did you called mining with Google Cloud an exploit ?) It's not a bug or vulnerability. The only reason is because they get Google Cloud for free ?)
Don't you think that it's not your business, who and how mine ? Don't count other people's money!
If they get chance to mine for free, they will do it.

So if we should follow your logic, if suddenly Microsoft Azure starts distributing free dedicated servers,as an advertising campaign, then you will ban Azure servers, because people will mine your WD "without having any cost".

I don't know what using premined (genesis) coins in a POS systems is called, if not mining without having any cost?
Webdollar is full of decisions that benefit the devs, all we need know is a hard-fork to revert blocks mined using free cloud.

This thread is losing steem, it has been a while now that no relevant discussion about Webdollar has taken place any more - just the nuissance background noise of a few detractors. I'd suggest the team to publish more updates on Bitcointalk on what's going on in their project. After all they are seeking adoption - aren't they?

Hi. Now we have been tested POS&POW from our hybrid mining and it works perfect. Now we're testing on our test network the transactions in order to improve the max tx/s accepted by WebDollar. After this we have only to add POS rounds mining also in pools and we will be ready for a release. Not to much to say because we're really focused on code in the last time in order to overcome the free mining exploit using google cloud.

Interesting, can you provide more info about the exploit? You devs didn't say anything about the exploit until now, when are you posting a disclosure on the forum? The community needs to know about this exploit!!!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: September 01, 2018, 04:51:30 PM
use for a while the genesis to mine with POS (which will be ~30% from all coins mined every day) and all mined webds to be used in very big bounties campaigns using our automatic bounty system, which will lead to mass adoption.

So you want to use PREMINED coins in a POS system? This is a real theft.
This will lead to centralization (rich get richer) as currently the devs have the most WEBD.

Adding POS to a PREMINED cryptocurrency is the end of it. The devs have 1 year worth on mining funds, no one has even close to that. They want to use premined coins to mine even more (through stake).

Man, this is extremely shady.

We truly belive this is the best solution in order to reach mass adoption

LOL. Do not insult our intelligence, please.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar Cryptocurrency HACKED - The Inside Job on: August 30, 2018, 05:25:41 AM
TL;DR: The Webdollar developers staged a hacking event. We found out and they try to cover the story. SHADY
Or: Lead developer gets scammed and issues a hardfork to undo his fuckup.

Events:
Quote
WebDollar.io - Alexandru Budisteanu:
A few days ago we encountered 2 types of attacks.

1. One out of 40 Genesis wallets was stolen - via a malware we believe now.
2. Botnet attack for increasing to ~ 1 GB/s the Global Difficulty blocking network for 2 hours. This had been done by somebody with a powerful Computation Power. After 60 hours of straight coding, we were able to finally solve all the attacks damages. We did an update on experimental pools and now in the main network too. The update contains two updates 1. Hard fork to "cancel" the effect of ALL transactions sent by the attacker using the Stolen Wallet. 2. Network optimizations for preventing other 50%+1 to change the Network Global Hashrate (difficulty). Right before doing the update, someone which was in our intranet did cut our internet connection and then after we connected directly to the internet our computers was attacked with ddos.

Quote
WebDollar.io - Alexandru Budisteanu:
WebDollar had a series of attacks organized by a big network of hackers and those did the followings:

1. Hack our local network where they found a wallet from genesis.
2. When we announced we can get back all funds which were theft from genesis the attacker started to make crazy transactions for lost the money track and make our recovery work harder.
3. After we developed and pushed the recursive transaction software for recover the funds the attackers used a boot net to rise the difficulty from 30 MH/s to 900MH/s which did cost few tens of thousands dollars for keeping the attack 5 minutes.
4. Before pushing the code, attackers did stop our internet connection.
5 After we connected to the network the attackers used ddos on our devices.
6. After 1 day the attacker started to mine blocks in the future and we fixed this issue.
7. Then he started to create his own forks with consecutive mined blocks and then propagate them into the network.

Their story is a big lie:

Quote
1. Hack our local network where they found a wallet from genesis.
So the genesis wallet is kept on plaintext files? No password/passphase protected? Smells like an inside job.

Quote
2. When we announced we can get back all funds which were theft from genesis the attacker started to make crazy transactions for lost the money track and make our recovery work harder.
So you were communicating with hackers. This is not plain incompetence, is another mark of an inside job.

Quote
3. After we developed and pushed the recursive transaction software for recover the funds the attackers used a boot net to rise the difficulty from 30 MH/s to 900MH/s which did cost few tens of thousands dollars for keeping the attack 5 minutes.
Again this is a lie. Botnets are cheap and renting does not cost $X0,000 for 5 minutes. This really unfolds like a fantasy story.

Quote
4. Before pushing the code, attackers did stop our internet connection.
So the hackers had full root privileges (you need that to configure network settings) on your network? Seems improbable unless you are really incompetent. Again this seems like an inside job.

Quote
5 After we connected to the network the attackers used ddos on our devices.
So you managed to connect back? So some hackers managed to hack your network, find plaintext wallets, transfer funds, cut your internet, but you managed to get back online? The hackers do not seem incompetent, they would have wiped out your PCs. Again, this seem like a fantasy story.

Quote
6. After 1 day the attacker started to mine blocks in the future and we fixed this issue.
7. Then he started to create his own forks with consecutive mined blocks and then propagate them into the network.
So webdollar had some serious bugs. It seems that you use this fact to socialize the hardfork which recovered your funds.

Really, this is just a fantasy story. There were no attackers with big networks, insane hacking skills and tens of thousand of dollars at their disposal.
How can you lie like this?

The devs are changing the narative, it's Linux fault now.
I have explained everything that the wallets were not encrypted with any password and stored on my personal computer and somebody exploited a vulnerability in my linux machines or the local network. There were no problem with the code and you can check the github repository. There were no issues with the code and nobody can steal money from an account with 51% attacks. They can only invalidate transactions usually to attack exchanges.  Somebody had got remote control of my computer and had stolen the wallet from my personal computer. Regarding Linux - have a lot of exploits. Checking this database https://www.exploit-db.com/platform/?p=linux different distribution of Linuxes had over 2777 exploits which were publicly published. The wallets were recovered entirely and it didn't affect the network in any way.

Team are still collecting data from attacks to open a criminal file for theft and unauthorized entry into a computer system, wich in Romanian law conduct to jail.
Where is the data? What really happened? It has been weeks since this event? What is the status?

On bitcointalk When they don't like the question, they don't answer.

On telegram if they don't like the question they delete your question.

The only purpose of this project is to make(the devs) tens of millions of $$$$ out of thin air.

We're answering at all questions we're seeing. I don't know why new accounts like yours appears like from nowhere and start making FUD.

This is a lie. You just delete questions about things that are sensible (hacking story).
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: July 22, 2018, 02:29:22 PM
and this month the first exchange should be here too.
Also can you please confirm that the first Exchange almost ready because only 8 days left until the end of July ?
And have you already written a website, code, rented dedicated servers, hired support staff for the first Exchange ?

Do you think that devs confirmation actually carries any weight? After all the delays and straight-out lies?
Do you really think any exchange will accept this untrustworthy project?

If you are lucky, they will build a private exchange with very low liquidity. At least they can issue hardforks when their exchange will get hacked.
But pretty much the webdollar project is going to fail. Don't waste your time & cycles on this.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: July 15, 2018, 08:32:24 PM
So, what's the ETA for pools?

They were announced as very very imminent several times, but it seems more time is needed. I'd recommend the team not to make ETA promises that they cannot keep. It gives a negatve feeling to the public. I know what the team is doing is great, however do not make promises you are not 100% sure you can keep, this can only spoil your project.

Yeah, this is a good advise. Thank you! We will come up with surprises at this deploy and immediately afterwards to offset the waiting.

I know what was happening: there was no theft, the devs tried to bribe the miners and not publish pools because big miners are mining big time. That's why the funds from the genesys wallet got to the miners wallets.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: July 15, 2018, 08:21:03 PM
Where is the exchange?

Without cold storage functionality there is no way to build a secure exchange. No exchange wants to list webdollar because they are exposed to risk of losing funds.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: July 14, 2018, 08:07:43 PM
Webdollar currency is not trustworthy. Developers are incompetent and liars, how can somebody trust them with anything?
The big problem with webdollar is security, hackers laugh at webdollar, someone with a 5$ botnet can ddos the shit out of the network (huge scalability problems).
Webdollar does not have cold storage: ability to sign transactions offline such that the private key never touches an internet connected machine. Private key export is not enough.

Nimiq is secure against hackers of all types and never had scalability problems, the best web browser cryptocurrency.
They have a real bug bounty where vulnerabilities are disclosed by white hat hackers. Webdollar is shit, it's just a matter of time until they will lose everything (trust me on this, I have good sources).

The blockchain was secured and resisted all the above attacks. Everything works perfectly fine now and the script that "cancel" the effect of the transactions was in place during this fork. I want to add the fact that the transactions are still on the Blockchain because even we can not alter the Blockchain, but the new set of rules "cancel" the effect of those transactions and recover the entire sum.

He used over 300 addresses in order to wash the money
So the attack was very professional, exactly like on Ethereum with the DAO
But in our case, the attacker definitely underestimated our devs so we were able to create an automatic script which tracked all the transactions down in and out automatically directly on the blockchain when the hard fork happened.

By this way we were able to recover all the funds

In order to wash the money, exactly like the Theft happened at Ethereum Classic (before it was called ETH) he used also the addresses of real miners who got over the night a lot of webd. The WebDollar team was able to recover the entire sum from the attacker

https://i.imgur.com/ckkRLu0.jpg

This is bullshit.

The most important thing is that funds were stolen from devs wallet and they issued a hardfork to get their money back.
No details are given about the thought process behind this (which signals that is a lie, a facade). Instead, the devs are giving a lot of details about DDOS attack to distract attention from the main fuckup.
This behavior is common among pathological liars and alexandru.b is a crook.

The blockchain is not secure, money was stolen from a wallet and they don't even know if it is a bug or it was malware.
Maybe they are stupid and downloaded malware (why bail themselves out?) or maybe there is a bug that can be exploited in the future and they don't know about it.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: July 13, 2018, 11:47:24 AM
Nothing funny.
You're missing the point. It's an open source project, anybody can add code. It's up to the network(miners) to accept it or not.
Even now, the miners could have just continue to use the old code and different fork, but they chose to update. This is quite decentralized no matter how you twist it.

Quote
There is a choice when asked a question and there are options for choosing.
I don't remember a question from you about what we should do. You told us about hack and hardfork only after you made it.
Just read NXT forum, XEM forum, ETH ETC forum.
There were big discussions.

There was no discussion because the theft is a lie (a facade).
They were panicking and the decision to invent an excuse was taken on the spot => hence no discussion, just announcement.

This is all smoke and mirrors. They are lying about the theft and they want this to be an excuse for not developing the pools. It's a well orchestrated scheme.

They have no proof that they were hacked. This is just a bunch of incompetent kids.

Strange how you made an account just to bash on this project, we get the idea, webdollar is nr.1 for you.

No, nr. 1 is https://nimiq.com/
Nimiq has a real bug bounty program that is used to improve the security of the code. Webdollar spends funds incentivizing people to create spam, great bounty program.

This text has been captured in the Telegram chat where things have been probably explained in an unclear way. An official statement would probably been redacted better.
Even if the mechanics of what has happened is not totally clear from this text, my personal impression is that the competence and proactivity shown by the team to successfully repair the damages of the attacks are quite obvious, which is proved by the fact that everything's fine now.

The team has shown that they are incompetent and now they are lying to the community.
There is nothing unclear, they said that a 51% attack was used to steal funds and this is a lie.

In the text is never mentioned that the 50%+1 attack was used to steal the wallet.
Having also a 50%+1 happening while wallet has been stolen, they had to fix both things, obviously

This is complete garbage coin, the developers are using their authority to hide their incompetence.
Why was a hard fork necessary? You click on malicious URLS / download malware ==> you pay the consequences, why should the code be updated to accomodate your fuck-up.
In the future, when a member of the community gets scammed (or downloads malware), will the devs implement a hard-fork for him?
How do we know that this is not an inside job, devs spend their money and then they bail out themselves?
You are right here.
When 50 000 000 NXT was stolen nobody made a hardfork. But it was 3355.73 BTC or roughly USD $1,701,015.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/breaking-bter-hacked-50m-nxt-stolen
Also there was a community vote and discussion.

Or $534 million in NEM.
And there are a lot of other examples without hardfork.
You talk about decentralization and anonymization, but you take the sole decision about the hardfork. It does not work like this.

And what is very strange in this situation is that the 51 % attack and the wallet stolen occurred right before the release of the pool. So suddenly and unexpectedly.
Yes, now are stable. We will release this night referral experimental program for preparing the main release.
We're working to finish pools this week for the official pools with referral release and bounty program and this month the first exchange should be here too.
As you can see in next 12-24 hours pool had to be started.
And boooom. Attack and stolen. I do not believe in such coincidences.
Also if you fixed all issues, where is the pool, referral programm ?)
Something is not right here happening.
