1  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bully Problem on: August 30, 2018, 09:41:18 AM
I find your first statement really unsettling. How can your bullies be your true friends? I know friends especially children intentionally get on each other's nerves. But I think in a situation where you feel you're being bullied, the case is already totally different. Bullying is a really disturbing social vice. No one should tolerate it or hang out around people that make them feel emotionally upset. News came in recently of a 9-yr old who committed suicide because he was being bullied for being a gay. So, these are extremes this issue might reach. As a matter of fact, the only solution is standing up for your own self.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: What should we focus on more? Demand or Supply? on: August 30, 2018, 09:34:15 AM
I've been a student of Economics for some time now. Not in an academic setting by the way. But I have undertaken studies of Economics individually. In this time, I have never seen a case where hoarding any product has worked for good. It always end up more like a lose-lose situation. And this is a strategy only amateurs engage. I totally agree with the poster. The only way to improve Bitcoin prices is to create awareness to induce the public's interest. In other words, only increased demand ever benefits a particular market.
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to become patient? on: August 29, 2018, 09:11:18 AM
Patience is a really beautiful virtue. But it is also very hard to cultivate as a habit. The first step to take is to identify the need to possess it. I believe it is a very important sign of maturity. And we all must go through the process of developing it. After identifying the need, then you must be open to big plans and projects. When these projects appear, do not shy away from them. I believe it takes hands-on experience to develop patience. And this is what big tasks present to us. Because without patience, you really can't achieve much, engaging in big long term projects with a consciousness of the importance of patience will help to bridge this character gap. No matter the amount of books you read and lectures you attend, you can never learn patience if you don't go out to do stuff.
4  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Walmart,Multinational Retail Company Filed Patent for a Blockchain-Based Market on: August 29, 2018, 09:03:13 AM
This is great. I always like forward thinking. All these big corporations owe us that much. There are too many benefits with the Blockchain technology for it to go down. They should actually be in a contest to be first to implement it. But of course there is a lot of bureaucracy involved. I sincerely hope innovation wins in the end. We should only be moving forward now and not remaining stagnant.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Asking stores do they accept bitcoin on: August 28, 2018, 09:30:45 AM
In the country where I live, this will be totally pointless. Most of the cashiers surely can't relate. I'm sure they've never even heard of Bitcoin before. And they mostly don't convey information up the ladder. So, your request might likely end with them. The strategy sounds really good though. Especially useful in better climes. Will most certainly yield great results.
6  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what is the fate of Zimbabwe after Mugabe's exit? on: August 28, 2018, 09:23:09 AM
After few months, the celebration has surely died down. The reality has now set in. Celebrating Mugabe's Zimbabwe resignation is like celebrating Wenger's Arsenal resignation. There is truly no assurance of better times. Repairs after a major plummeting will not come so easily. So, we have to give them a couple of years. I just sincerely hope they are now stirring in the right direction. Though honestly, I cannot boast that this is true. The Crocodile doesn't seem any different from his former boss.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BECOME A POLITICIAN .. on: August 27, 2018, 06:51:43 AM
This is very negative thinking. I totally understand where you are coming from. But I still completely disagree with your perspective and reaction to the status quo. If we encourage this kind of notion, then things will only get worse daily. And not all politicians are thieves by the way. Some are really fighting for the interests of their people. They are surely in their minority but they exist. We need to see politics and politicians differently. It will help us to set the right standards when we want elect officials.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Trump just a puppet? on: August 25, 2018, 07:10:16 PM
Trump's Presidency is one of the weirdest things in the world presently. Trump might be anything but to call him a puppet will be doing him a lot of injustice. The man is just absolutely unpredictable. Too unpredictable to be a puppet in my opinion. The way he is even consistently attacked by the media simply reflects that he is hurting some strong power base. His relationship with Putin however is incomprehensible. He literally becomes a totally different man when he's around him. There's definitely more to his Presidency than we all know.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: INVEST AND DON'T HAVE REGRETS !! on: August 23, 2018, 06:07:21 AM
This has been my opinion for some time now. It's good to see someone saying the same thing. It is necessary to invest only what you're ready to lose. I think this is the only way to enjoy the process. Putting in what its loss will cause you to be bankrupt is really far from wise. The risk in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is really high. There's no denying that. I don't think we can get rid of that volatility. And this is more reason why we need to be careful in order not to end in regrets.
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You Waste Your Life On The Internet? on: August 22, 2018, 06:29:16 AM
I think control is key. No matter what it is, only you can decide how it affects you. Even a blessing can become a curse if it is not properly managed. So, the internet on its own is nothing. It is what you do on it that matters. There are people that make tons of cash on the internet. This is even true about social media too. So, if you do business or something profitable online, then there's absolutely no problem with staying online. Each one to his own. Some people still waste a lot of time gossiping and wasting so much time even in the "real world"
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Man walked 34 kilometers to office at age 47 on: August 19, 2018, 06:09:10 PM
Why do I find this hard to believe? Forty seven kilometers is a lot of distance! My problem is not with being able to walk such a distance. But really, the issue is that he was going to WORK. How late would he turned up? Or did he plan the trip and left well ahead of time? Still, imagine how fatigued he must have been after walking that sorta distance!!! How much of the day's work would he succeed in doing? I guess it's just one of those tales elders tell us Grin
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Conservatism spreading across the globe? on: August 18, 2018, 07:05:47 AM
There's one major principle in play here. I think it is one of times and seasons. Ideologies and their prevalence go round in circles. I think in the late 20th Century and early 2010s, liberalism gained a lot of ground. Then what follows is that people get fed up with the downsides of the ideology. All the PC garbage, loose borders amidst other points that liberalism sold are actually getting people sick. What we see with Trump and these other elections are just little signs of revolt that are bound to be experienced in most generations. Conservatism will also do its time, get people fed up and then the whole cycle continues
13  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin - a financial pyramid: true or myth? on: August 17, 2018, 07:28:48 AM
I think it is this kind of opinions that create bad publicity for Bitcoin. It is just not justifiable. How can cryptocurrencies be referred to as a financial pyramid? It just doesn't make sense. The basic principle behind pyramids is the introduction of new investors. And this is not so with cryptocurrency. Once you know what you are doing, one wouldn't make such remarks. If it were a financial pyramid, it won't have lasted this long.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Turkey vs Trump on: August 16, 2018, 06:35:55 PM
Erdogan and Turkey had better learn something very fast. Turkey is no match for the US. Either on an economical or a ballistic war front, US still has the upper hand. The earlier they realize this, the better for them. It appears to many people that Trump doesn't know what he is doing. And that there is what I think is his strength. He acts sporadically in a way that makes people underestimate his capabilities. The dollar might eventually lose its strength but that might not happen anytime soon.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Why spend time in bitcoins? on: August 11, 2018, 06:50:14 PM
Yes it is rational. Mainly we spend time n things that bring us some sort of benefit, in this case profit. And spending time on earning bitcoins for profits or money is the most rational choice. Remember the saying "Time is money",and so is bitcoin.
Wasting time will if no benefit is realized from the time input you have invested in bitcoin. But all in all. If one understands bitcoin, that person will never waste time if its invested in bitcoin.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the world ready for cryptocurrency? on: August 07, 2018, 09:25:56 AM
I think not yet, the world is not ready. And this is because the majority of people listen to people in public offices, and this means that many governments must be convinced so that their follows can be ready for it. But if you look at it now. Getting your head around cryptocurrencies was hard enough before governments got involved. But now that policy makers around the world are drawing up fresh regulations on everything from exchanges to initial coin offerings, keeping track of what’s legal has become just as daunting as figuring out which newfangled token might turn into the next Bitcoin. And the rules vary wildly by country, given a lack of global coordination among authorities. So it will take some time.
17  Economy / Economics / Should the U.S. stop importing from China? on: July 30, 2018, 12:52:02 PM
I thinking on this matter is don't stop, but slow it down. I don't think we should stop imports from China at all. I do believe that we should cut down a bit and start making our own products. We were a country built on manufacturing. What happened? Did we get lazy and in good times we decided buying cheap would be faster? This is a major reason the economy is where it is today, we stopped making and chose buying.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there good sides in a war? on: July 29, 2018, 12:35:11 PM
The only "good" thing about war is when it ends.

War means a lot of misery and death for a lot of people, but sometimes war is a necessary evil. It can end oppression, tyranny, and injustice or create an environment thereof.

Basically, whether or not a particular war is a "good" thing depends on which side your ancestors were on and how long after the particular war it is.
19  Other / Off-topic / Re: Transgenders. on: July 26, 2018, 03:18:16 PM
I think it's something that shouldn't be judged by the opinions of other people but by your own heart.
Personally, I'm bi, so I will grant you that I'm already not in the majority because I don't find either standard arrangement yucky (quite the opposite, in fact), and I'm female so it's more socially acceptable for me to be in a non hetero-normative relationship. So I can't say I have as much riding on my answers as most of the people (guys mainly) here, but I would definitely date a transgendered person.
Heck, if we consider the term "gender" as meaning compliance with the classic long hair and dresses versus frat boy, and "transgender" as noncompliance with those standards (which is in fact what the term gender means... societal roles of people biologically sexed one way or the other), then there is a certain set of "transgender" lesbian women who dress and act like gentlemen that I find extremely attractive.
I think it's interesting how many people are willing to be friends with a transgendered person but not date them. Yes, the "acceptable company" bar is much lower for friends than it is life partner no matter what issue we're talking about, but I find the contrast between the "HELL NO" and "It might be awkward at first but I think I would get over it" average response to the two questions is an intriguing dichotomy. If the answer to the second is true, why can't it be the same for the first?
20  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people go into prostitution? on: July 25, 2018, 12:43:52 AM
There are many reasons why people go into prostitution. Some possible reasons are:
1) Being physically abused as a child
2) Being sexually abused as a child
3) Being involved in drugs
4) Prostitution isn't always a choice though. Sometimes people go into prostitution due to being forced.
5) Sex work also be a lucrative business depending where you are from. Those are not academically capable may choose such a practice as a means to make more money.
So despite the sexual drive, the main reason for prostitution in all groups is money.
