121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt mining hardware on: February 12, 2014, 03:35:41 PM
Your motherboard has:

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1
1 x PCIe 2.0 x4

Which means it actually can support 3 GPUs if you use an adapter like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-E-1X-to-16X-Riser-Card-Flexible-Extender-Cable-Cord-Molex-Capacitor-/281257445352

It can support even more with other hacks but they aren't as cheap.
Brilliant, thanks for the very helpful reply. I really appreciate it.
Will the cards run smoothly using these adapters at normal hash-rate?
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Scrypt mining hardware on: February 12, 2014, 02:32:35 PM
I'm going to hong kong next week, I'm assuming it'd be cheaper to buy a new graphics card out there.
Will all the internal plugs on the graphics cards bought there be the same as if I bought them in England right? I'm planning on buying a r9 280x, or possibly some other radeon card. I've printed this list https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison to take with me.

I have this motherboard: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61MX/
Asus p8h61-mx usb3 for those that don't want to click links.
It looks as if it only supports 1 gpu, if this is the case. Is there a cheap fix I could implement to have two gpu's running?

My smc deposit still isn't showing after 830 confirmations......
I posted about this yesterday, I'm surprised it's still not been fixed.

how many coins can i get with a 4Mh/s GPU in an hour? now, i'm mining with cgminer in 1G pool. help me with further informations please.
What GPU are you using? 4mh/s on this is very low, hash rates on this are much higher, given the current difficulty you'd struggle to get shares before blocks are found.

WTF with payouts on maxcoinpool?
Is it still set to auto only? Initially when it launched you could do manual payouts but had to confirm via email for some reason lol. I have like 0.5 stuck in that pool for that reason.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 09, 2014, 11:41:42 AM
Please, could somebody post an working maxcoin.conf ? I've added a lot of addnodes posted here, but still "0 active connection(s) to MaxCoin network".

Left rcpport and rcpconnect out, not sure if you need them unless your solo mining, let me know if it works for you.

fuckin shitcoin i will never buy a single one
This coin is a total failure:

  • developers never heard about testnet, and launched coin in real net
  • released untested binaries, that simply don't run, because developers haven't ever heard about static linking
  • they don't know how to make releases using github release system, and just push zipped binaries
  • they don't know how to prepare source code for compilation, and then push unprepared code to repository (figuring out how to compile that code took me about 15-30 minutes, and I'm one of those "skilled nerds")
  • think about all other people who wanted to participate in launch, and don't know how to compile code
  • official pool "max.rocketpool.co.uk" is stealing maxcoins http://www.reddit.com/r/maxcoinproject/comments/1xcfu2/maxrocketpoolcouk_are_currently_thieves/
  • the only pool that really worked (for me at least) was max.1gh.com until it was DDoSed to oblivion, and official twitter response: https://twitter.com/maxcoinproject/status/431571916764483585  - that it is a scam. You call that a good communitation between developers upon launch??
  • how hard would it be for maxcoin to reach out for people who wish to cooperate before launch. But no - it is better to find out live, who is interested in creating pools.
  • majority of miners are botnet owners right now, I don't want to see the crash when they decide to cash out. I will not be here anyway.

I'm out. If I ever see any article about maxcoin in any major outlet, my response will be exactly what they deserved.

You can quote this whole post on every new page in this thread, and give an address. I will send you 1 MAX to first person on every new page that quotes this. But what's the point, these MAX are worthless anyway. I have about 50 MAX to spend on that.

EDIT: I don't attribute to malice that which can be equally well explained by stupidity. But effect is the same: maxcoin is a failure due to incompetence, not due to malice.

Thanks for the coins

My maxcoin wallet will not connect to net work any ideals?
thanks
Go to
C/users/pc>appdata>maxcoin
add these to the conf file, if you don't have one make one called maxcoin.conf you may have to unhide hidden folders to find the appdata folder and possibly your user which I think is crtl + h on windows.

So do I have to input my max-coin receive address anywhere in the .bat file or just the same user/pass from the maxcoin.conf? My wallet is currently showing 0 hash p/s is this because I'm not using the built in cpu miner or have I messed up my settings?
Also thanks to op for updating the cudaminer client for this new coin.

How many confirmations should you get for receiving blocks?
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 31, 2014, 12:47:33 PM
I have a few questions about nxt if someone could clarify that'd be great.

When I click the peer tab it shows a list of not only names but IPs is this just people hosting or everyone connected to the network at the time?

Why Java? Java often has exploits, it's not something most people want on there pc.

Security, is it being worked on? Even if you don't want usernames, two passwords would be a drastic improvement. Even possibly a second password where it asks you 3 random characters of it, like character 1,4,7 like some online banks use.

Nxt forging, correct me if I'm wrong but when I see the unconfirmed transaction tabs all transactions seem to have a 1 nxt fee, regardless of the amount, based on that it doesn't seem to make sense why the bigger share holders forge drastically more, maybe it should be transaction based? The more you send and receive the bigger chance?

Will there ever be an offline wallet?
Thanks in advanced for any reply, what I said above wasn't supposed to be negative. I bought some yesterday as I think it has potential, it just needs work.

Paypal is dreadful at virtual goods, even if they send it as a gift you can lose out. Skrill works well for virtual goods from my experience.

I've used this service a handful of times, really good service. Transactions are fast and the prices are better then other UK Bitcoin sites from my experience.
