New rieMiner Release – 0.91

A minor release is out: rieMiner 0.91. It brings a few enhancements, but no performance increase. A miner could as well continue using 0.9 without much issues. Find the latest Win64 and Deb64 binaries here! Updates:

  • For Solo Mining, Bech32 addresses are now supported (only P2PWKH for now though, P2WSH support may eventually come later);
  • Some minor interface changes, in particular a better estimation of the time to find a block, and there is now a proper and very precise earning estimation in Pooled Mining in RIC/day!
  • There was a bug which broke the statistics in Pooled Mining when the Difficulty changed, this is now fixed;
  • When mining using a Primorial Number bigger than 40, the base primes shown are now correct. This is important for people trying to beat records with the Benchmark Mode;
  • The memory estimation is more precise.

If you compare Solo and Pooled Mining performance, you will find out that Pooled Mining is around 10% slower than Solo Mining. It was actually always the case, due to the condition of what makes a submission a share (first number prime and at least 4 primes in total). Thus, the issue is not at the miner's end, but the pools' one, and there is no way to fix this unless pools change the conditions of what a share is. In Discord, I gave a detailed explanation of the problem.

We still reminder everyone that we are always looking for new developers so we can make more exciting releases more often!

Help Riecoin get listed on c-Patex.

Voting list is here. https://c-patex.com/voting-en.php
I already nominated and gave my 2 votes for Riecoin.
To vote you need to be a registered user of C-patex and own some PATS (their own currency). PATS howevewer are not deducted from your account after voting, so you can just buy some PATS, vote and then sell them.

Sounds good as the exchange is listed in CoinMarketCap, even though it is still one of these tiny exchanges. I might see how much a Pats is worth and vote as well.
Not much news from Guytp and Zapple nor a lot of changes since months is also a bit concerning.

Hey guys, I've been paying attention to the Hashrate Distribution of the network and uBlock.it currently has an Extraction Share of 46% of the last 100 blocks and 39% of the last 1000. Maybe someone could help steer this percentage back down? Anyways, just showing my concern. I'll try to add more power to the network here soon, but I'm just a small fish in this pond.

Unfortunately for now it is very easy to acquire enough computational power to mine a significant part of the blocks. Someone or a few people (and not a lot) is mining there with a lot of power, and as long as there are only few Riecoin miners, we cannot do much unfortunately. Spread the word to make new miners join!

The Riecoin project has been taken over by its community since a while, due to the founder gatra basically abandoning everyone.
Unfortunately, the current Riecoin maintainers are only volunteers; we are not able to contribute it consistently due to lack of free time, and the project progresses very slowly.
For this reason, we are also constantly looking for new developers.
Some were able to reach gatra a few months ago, but so far he still has yet to show that he is not just making empty promises. He claimed to come back but never did, and never paid the bounty for the clo1's work regarding the upgrade from 0.10.2 to 0.16.3. But who knows if he would suddenly come back, personally I don't have much hope...

There is no Android wallet for now, and probably not until a while unless new developers join us.

You can browse https://riecoin.dev/ to learn more. There is a (small) list of exchanges here (though basically only Zapple can be used for now). If you like Riecoin, you can contribute to get it listed in SouthXchange, which will also restore Riecoin in CoinMarketCap.
Also join us to Discord to get involved and know better how the project is going!
I don't know what is the last time you checked out Riecoin so probably the best is to catch up by yourself by reading all the posts in this topic and other social media since your absence.

Is there any plan to upgrade on 0.18 client?

See here for the current Riecoin projects.
Unfortunately, the lack of developers that have a lot of time for this project doesn't help...
Again, new (reliable and skilled) developers wanted!

I also reminder the SouthXchange voting! If you can, please help!

GPU Miner ...

I am looking for the most efficient (and easily compiled in Fedora) version of the GPU miner.

Does anyone have a complete list of the miners that are out there than can work on a GPU, and the most efficient to date?

There is no known GPU miner for Riecoin and that should never happen...

gapcoin.club Riecoin support ...

Thank you a lot! I added Gapcoin to Riecoin.dev as well.

Could you please list FreiExchange here and on your website as one of your exchanges? We would like to get our Riecoin volume up.

Thank you.

Your exchange was listed in our site since the beginning... Don't use Riecoin.org anymore...
We can't change the first post here, but that does not really matter.

You could join our Discord server as well. It is your job to advertise (without spamming), be involved in some way in the communities which you listed the coin, and grow your exchange as owner, after all.

I have got message in my ric client Warning:Unknown block version being mined....

I am using 0.16.3 v

Hi
Make sure to update to 0.16.3.1
https://github.com/riecointeam/riecoin/releases/tag/v0.16.3.1

Inded, it is 0.16.3.1

Weird... But looks like mining_ric/RLG... is still producing signaling blocks (https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/block.dws?1124064.htm : versionHex 20000003 instead of 20000000), why?
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: June 17, 2019, 08:00:56 AM
The time of rewards are strange, as well the block heights

Block Height   Date/Time   Age                         Difficulty                     Reward
1108494      2019-06-15 02:36:10   7 minutes   1199.0   22.66666666 RIC
1108494      2019-06-15 02:36:10   7 minutes   1199.0   22.66666666 RIC
1108493      2019-06-15 02:34:25   9 minutes   1199.0   22.66666666 RIC
1108493      2019-06-15 02:34:25   9 minutes   1199.0   22.66666666 RIC
1108488      2019-06-15 02:27:41     16 minutes 1199.0   22.66666666 RIC
1108488      2019-06-15 02:27:41     16 minutes 1199.0   22.66666666 RIC

The miner is producing blocks with a dummy output. Open any of his blocks and you will see a 25 RIC and a 0 RIC outputs to RLG..., surely because of using a code with a donation address that he set to 0% for himself. So for some reason the block explorer duplicates every block in the list.

This may not be strictly riecoin and 6-tuplet stuff, but I still think this forum is the best place to post it:

rieMiner 0.9 (by pttn) set a world record yesterday, finding a 527-digit 7-tuplet in Benchmark mode.
http://anthony.d.forbes.googlepages.com/ktuplets.htm
The record attempt ran for about 1130 hours on a Ryzen 1700.

regards,

vidarn/Art3mis

Congratulations Cheesy ! I wrote a post about this.

And yes, it is definitively the right place, as you used Riecoin software in order to beat the record!

We did it! And a new Riecoin website!

The long anticipated network upgrade is finally at its end, with the miners reaching the consensus threshold yesterday. Thank you everyone for your contribution to our success! We can now move forwards and work for the Riecoin’s future.

There will still be a one-week period before the actual softforks activation, so late people have until Block 1096704 to upgrade to 0.16.3.1. After this point, blocks produced using older versions will be rejected.

Meanwhile, a new Riecoin website has been opened, riecoin.dev. Indeed, the original website riecoin.org was not updated since 2014, and there is no sign of its owner gatra to update it. There is no point in referencing Riecoin with an outdated website, which would give the impression of a dead project, and notably deter exchanges from listing Riecoin.

Also, Riecoin was proposed to the SouthXchange platform. While still a low volume exchange, it has much more liquidity than Zapple, which will certainly help to make the Riecoin price recover and stabilize it. Getting listed there will also reactive Riecoin in CoinMarketCap! Help Riecoin win the vote!

New Riecoin Core Release - 0.16.3.1

A lot of efforts have been given in order to modernize the Riecoin wallet from 0.10.2 to 0.16.3. To complete the upgrade and move forward (start listing in other exchanges, improve the proof of work and beat new records, etc.), some softforks have to be enabled. However, the activation process is getting stale. Indeed, 95% of the blocks must indicate support for these forks during 12 h, which is basically impossible because of a couple of miners. Both never appeared publicly to explain why they are not upgrading.

As it is clear that the majority of the Riecoin community wants to upgrade, and as we should not be retained by those non cooperating people, we decided to lower the threshold to 77.5% (80% might still be too much, 75% a bit low as we reached 76.5% recently). The window has been increased from 12 h to 1 week to ensure a safe activation. We also want to give everyone enough time to upgrade to 0.16.3.1.
Please upgrade as soon as possible.

New miners are welcome, and additional mining power from the curent ones as well, in order to reach this 77.5% threshold and definitively make 0.10.2 a thing of the past. We can do it!
New developers are more than welcome too. Bitcoin just released 0.18.0, and Riecoin shall never be outdated again like it was in the 0.10.2 era.

You can get the latest official binaries here: https://github.com/riecointeam/riecoin/releases
No further action have to be done, other than replacing the wallet binaries and restarting it.
That said, always make sure that you have backups of your private keys.

Join our Discord server to get even more involved! https://discordapp.com/invite/2sJEayC
With some new rules in the server, invite links can now be freely shared.

What pools have switched to the new version of the wallet?

Both XpoolX and Ublock.it upgraded. RiePool did not.

Hi
We updated the node to 0.16.3
RLGzidMRkhfqE...

Everything works

 Smiley Smiley Smiley

Thank you very much! Nice to know that most of the big miners cooperate!
If possible, could you please also remove the dummy 0 RIC output to save some blockchain space?

Remaining outdated big miners are RG6ZoZ... and RiePool... Please upgrade!
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: February 21, 2019, 07:41:45 PM
Thank you RSoTqU... for upgrading! Though, if only you could stop using a dummy 0 RIC output (RF85xK...) to save some space...

Great, the miner actually did this! Thank you a lot!

What has to be done to expose RIC more to the people?

There is no simple way to do that... Except maybe Guytp later if Zapple grows well, nobody from the community has any significant influence in the cryptosphere, so it will be very hard to promote Riecoin and earn it a decent place.

  • If there are bloggers or Youtubers here (that have not just a 2-digits or less readers/subscribers), you are welcome to spread the word about Riecoin;
  • Buy a good domain name for Riecoin and make a nice website for it, that would replace the outdated official one;
  • Talk about Riecoin in topics/articles compiling lists of CPU coins;
  • Try to beat any world record using the rieMiner's Benchmark Mode;
  • If you have some store, accept Riecoin as payments and even make more advantageous to pay in Riecoin. Or make any useful or entertaining service/game using (not just small amounts of) Riecoin;
  • Find good exchanges that don't charge much in listing fee and get Riecoin listed there;
  • Just spread the word yourself to your crypto and nocoiners friends, geek or social butterfly friends.

More generally any suggestion to the current software, and better, actual contributions, are welcome.
Create a thin/Android wallet may help to attract new people too. Motivated, skilled and reliable people are always welcome to contribute to Riecoin.

Cool Cheesy ! 112/218 blocks signaling support!
Thank you RSoTqU... for upgrading! Though, if only you could stop using a dummy 0 RIC output (RF85xK...) to save some space...

And indeed, Cryptoid is saying "Warning: This version is obsolete, upgrade required!".
Whoever is owning this site, please upgrade and update the "About Riecoin" tab.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: February 15, 2019, 12:13:14 PM
Someone knows what are the future plans?

Besides softforks there are some discussions in Discord of improving the Riecoin proof of work to not be stuck with only 6-tuples (there would be a hardfork for that like there was for the SuperBlocks).

Just to note that I'm observing (via getblockchaininfo) >10% of blocks are now signalling CSV/Segwit. That's a bit of progress from the last few weeks. If you're a miner and wish to try out the new version at https://github.com/riecointeam/riecoin/releases/tag/v0.16.3.0 your feedback is welcome.

It looks like that it is due to RGsGkJpmb4eQATbskACNW1Azyumxp1PbTt upgrading. Thank you whoever you are for upgrading.
XpoolX upgraded since long too.

Unfortunately none from All Others/RSoTqU.../RLGzid.../RG6ZoZ.../RiePool/GpuPool/Ublock.it upgraded...
Please everyone upgrade to make 0.10.2 a thing of the past and fully benefit from the new features.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 22, 2019, 11:47:38 AM
Works. Merci.
had to add to the rieMiner.conf:

Code:
#256 Men in Black
PrimeTableLimit = 268435456

512 MiB didn't work

still states "using >1100MiB" which is funny since RPi3 only has 1024 MiB, but hey, it works...
Hashrate is >340 kH/s (says my pool)

Glad to hear that, I wonder how much RIC/day you are earning. At least the RaspBerry Pi uses very low power.

The memory estimation is not really accurate for now, especially for lower amounts, it just gives a rough estimation. I opened an issue about that if someone is interested in improving this.

Anyone wanting to contribute to rieMiner can read its issues.
If new features are wanted, one can also open another issue.

Is there a chance that coinmarketcap will track RIC again? Or am i only doing Mathematics a favor now? Tongue

They might consider tracking again if Zapple's daily volume for RIC/BTC ever reaches $1000 equivalent like asked in their Request Form.
Zapple will only start advertising on Summer once they are ready, we can only hope that they will find a place in the competition, or that we get listed in another important exchange.

Else not much is happening in our community sadly.
Some social activity like Medium articles or posts/comments in CPU mineable coins compilations are welcome.
Or someone can try to break any tuple world record with the rieMiner's Benchmark Mode.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 19, 2019, 01:24:07 PM
Hi,
do you guys can make an estimation if the rieminer would/will work on RPi?
cheers

I compiled rieMiner in a Toshiba AC100 (Armhf CPU, Ubuntu 16.04) without any issue, so rieMiner should work in a Raspberry Pi with Linux. Note that you need to use the Light branch. Also be sure to read properly the README.md (in particular, 32 bits compilation instructions and reduce the PrimeTableLimit for less memory usage). If you need help, please post questions here.

Unfortunatly i can't compile rieMiner on my Raspberry Pi3b - Screenshot:....
Looks like that there are some issues with including cpuid.h?
(https://github.com/SoftEtherVPN/SoftEtherVPN/issues/574#issue-343408913)
(https://www.reddit.com/r/reddCoin/comments/688ya8/compile_reddcoin_on_raspberry_pi_b/)
btw, i am using pi64-lite as OS

cheers

As pi64 seems to be Debian based, you should not encounter any other issue.
Someone else was able to make rieMiner work on RaspBerry Pi without any issue.

Code:
# apt install g++ make git libjansson-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libssl-dev libgmp-dev
git clone https://github.com/Pttn/rieMiner.git
cd rieMiner
git checkout Light
make -j 4

Enjoy.

I don't see anything waiting for a rc0 release. If there are any miners that want to try pulling from the master branch and confirming you can mine some blocks feedback would be most welcome (block number would be excellent).

Will probably tag a rc0 release shortly.

Block 1021045 mined successfully with Commit 545fadbc.

Version 03000020 (536870915) with vanilla rieMiner instead of 00000020 (536870912) so far with previous commits.

Should we start over Testnet? It is now saying "unknown new rules activated (versionbit 1)"
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 08, 2019, 08:54:36 PM
Is it pool mining? and rieminer 0.9?

Solo mining with rieMiner 0.9, though you should earn roughly the same for both pooled and solo.

Found first block with 1700x Smiley after 4 years with rieminer 0.9

Congratulations for the block Cheesy ! Thank you for participating, keep supporting the Riecoin network!
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 08, 2019, 06:09:57 PM
Any advice how many RIC can be mined with 1700x and 1950x? Which wallet to be used 0.10 or 0.16?

I am mining ~80 RIC/day at Difficulty 1386 with a 2700X @ 3,5 GHz. Earnings are proportional to frequency and number of cores for a same architecture so you can estimate yourself for 1950X.

For personal use, you can already start using 0.16.3, just backup your private keys to be safe.

A first bęta release is planned for soon and starting from this, upgrade can reasonably be considered safe for most people.

It's beyond a joke that these math / data cryptocurrencies - with actual world record breaking technology have largely been ignored - by both the "Bitcoin" community and crypto / press / media at large. Folks would rather mine Dogecoin !

Riecoin and Gapcoin are just not fun enough, we have to find some stupid prime number jokes and start memes to overtake Dogecoin Roll Eyes ...

Let's hope that 2019 will be better for both.
