We currently have 2 DNSSeeds. I and keystroke are operating them currently.
If someone has problems to find clearnet nodes, please build from current src (master) and you should always have plenty of connetions.

https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/commit/f8848032d4491356318e65e29d87306ab58007e0
https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/commit/4ea0247c79b6fd8f702c35a454c5c87291fe180b

Glad I could help! The DNSSeed should be very stable but if there are any issues ever just message me here and I will check them out. I also have an anoncoin node running on static I2P.

I am speaking to a friend who might be able to do an Android wallet as well. (I have been looking through the bounties.)

Also, is the "Publication of an article about bitcoin-related privacy/anonymity solutions on a cryptocurrency or internet-privacy web site." bounty open? If so I will take care of that. Smiley
All bounties on the wiki are still open!

Anoncoin open bounties: SEED NODES

Anoncoin is looking for volunteers to help with seed nodes (clearnet, DNS, and i2p)

The normal clearnet seed nodes will be hardcoded into the software, and will be used by the client to reach the anoncoin network, especially in the case of a DNS failure. Given that these IP addresses (which must be static) will be hardcoded, the volunteer will need to run the Anoncoin client 24/7 for a long period of time.

Bounty: 5 ANC per IPv4 address (40-50 wanted)

We are also looking for volunteers to add their I2P public destination&b32-address to the source code as I2P seed nodes. These addresses must be static since they will be hard-coded in the software.

Bounty: 5 ANC per public destination&b32-address on I2P (5-10 wanted)

Finally, we are also looking for DNS seed nodes, which are a bit more complicated to run (see How to run a DNS seeder). For this, you must have an IP number that can be used for Anoncoin on port 53/UDP, and a domain name.

Bounty: 150 ANC per DNS Seed (2-3 wanted).

For more information, see the Anoncoin wiki. For additional questions, please contact myself, or better yet, K1773R. As always, the easiest way to get info is on the #anoncoin IRC channel.

Please send seednode info to myself by PM or by mail at lunokhod@i2pmail.org. The bounties will be paid out one month later to ensure that the seednodes are stable.

wrt clearnet seednodes, il get in touch to you about it. it is obsolete now.
To clarify: we are still looking for DNS seed nodes, as well as I2P seeders.

At Meeh's request, Cryptoslave and myself have joined the Anoncoin team as project managers. As you are all probably aware, the Anoncoin developers have full time jobs, and Meeh in particular has been having a hard time juggling his responsibilities at work, Anoncoin, and i2p. He has not been able to keep everyone in the community as informed as they should, and this will all change. Cryptoslave and I will bridge the gap between the development team and community, and we will provide much needed help in organizing certain aspects of the project. For myself, I have relevant experience as the head of a scientific research lab, so I think that I am up to the job.

We are not here to pump the coin, and ask that you judge both us and the developers based on the progress that is made, not the price of the coin. We are well aware that Anoncoin is at a low point in its history, and many (including myself) are disappointed with the missed deadlines, the problems with the difficulty algorithm, and the fact that many exchanges are not accepting deposits or withdrawals. We face an uphill battle, and it is easy to become disheartened when other so-called anonymous coins are seeing progress and adoption.

Despite the immediate difficulties we face, I still believe that Anoncoin has much to offer. To start with, it is the only coin that offers support of the i2p darknet. You have all seen the recent news of Tor darknet market places being raided by authorities, showing the need for incorporating i2p into digital currencies. Equally important, even if the Zerocoin deadlines proved to be overly optimistic, Anoncoin is still the only coin that has made progress on its implementation. Though other coins are claiming to be implementing Zerocoin as well, if you look closely, you will see that they have only copied the publicly available Zerocoin library into their code, and nothing else. But finally, all of the developers are committed to internet privacy issues, and are not in to cryptocurrencies to make money. Anyone who thinks otherwise just needs to look at the long term trend in the value of ANC...

I can assure you that progress is being made, and that both Gnosis and Meeh are working on fixing the most pressing issues (the difficulty algorithm, and an update to the bitcoin 0.9.3 base code). It is true that Meeh does not visit bitcointalk often, in part because of the rampant trolling and sock puppets, but he is on IRC, and that is where most of the core team members meet and discuss things. I would like to invite you all to join us on the #anoncoin irc channel, either via i2p, or by our new server irc.greyhat.no (port 6697). If you are really interested, ask us to invite you to join the developer channel as well. We are currently migrating the irc forums to greyhat (and leaving freenode) given the greater level of privacy that is offered (such as connections via ssl).

Our first priority will be to put together an Anoncoin development schedule, and the community will be able to use this to see the progress that is being made. We are tentatively planning on three releases, one to fix the immediate problems, a second to implement fully i2pd and other features, and third zerocoin. This will likely require 2 hard forks. We are also planning on rolling out a new forum as the trolling at bitcointalk is becoming annoying to everyone. I expect to share the development schedule with all of you in about a weeks' time.

Finally, I would like to remind you how you can keep informed on the Anoncoin project. The best sources of information concerning anoncoin:

  • The #anoncoin IRC channel (and corresponding developer channel)
  • The Anoncoin wiki
  • The AnoncoinNews and AnoncoinProject twitter feeds.
  • The Anoncoin reddit page
  • and lastly, here.

Stay tuned...

Message from Meeh

Meeh has asked myself (lunokhod) and cryptoslave to take a more formal role in the Anoncoin project as project managers. This move is designed to give the other developers more time to concentrate on what they do best, all while bringing in extra help to aid in dealing with general organizational and PR issues.

We will provide a more detailed statement in the next 24 hours as to what this will mean in practice. You can rest assured that development is continuing and that the project has not been abandoned: If things were not moving forward, we would never have agreed to take on this responsibility!

Wow so much newbie activity over here  Wink

If you are dismissing my concerns can you please explain why they are not troubling to you?  If you have any information please share it with the community.

1. K1773R is still blaming the transaction problem on cryptsy.  There have been bugs found in the anoncoin code and cryptsy is compiling from source.  Other exchanges and even desktop qt clients are having the same problem as cryptsy.  So this can't be a cryptsy problem.  I would really like if the devs would work on this problem seeing as a cryptocurrency with transaction problems is obviously really bad.  What are the devs doing to fix this? We need anoncoin back on exchanges asap.

2. Meeh has been working on myriad auxPoW for the past month but recently asked what myriad auxPoW is.  Since he can't develop something he doesn't know about what has he been doing? An update on the supposed "imminent" hardfork would be great.  The sooner this hardfork happens the sooner anoncoin can fix the difficulty issue.

3. Anoncoin code is still based on bitcoin 0.8.6 which is almost a year old at this point.  Why hasn't the anoncoin code been updated? Bitcoin is currently on 0.9.3 and there have 4 updates in between 0.8.6 and 0.9.3.  Why has anoncoin missed all 4 updates?  Gnosis recently posted that meeh was working on updating the code to 0.9.3 but that concerns me because meeh was also supposed to be working on myriad auxPoW but seems to not be doing too well with that either.

4. This conversation with ian miers of zerocash is also troubling.  He doesn't seem to think our RSA UFO's are strong enough.  https://twitter.com/secparam/status/449576116161089537

Doesn't matter if the account is new if the points he raises are valid. These are all perfectly valid concerns IMO.

Yeah, I have to agree.

First Bluetrade, then Cryptsy, then CEX. I think that the verdict is in: the problem is with Anoncoin and not the exchanges.

The last Anoncoin release (based on bitcoin 0.8.6) was Dec. 24, 2013. Though there has been a lot of bull-shitting and promises made, nothing has been accomplished in almost a year. The code base was not kept up to date, and now we are at the mercy of those exploiting flaws that were fixed long ago in other coins.

Now, if this was just some software project, so be it. However, Anoncoin is supposed to be a cryptocurrency, and the current market cap is about half a million USD (it used to be, and should be, well over million). It doesn't matter whether you own a lot, or just a few coins: the lack of action from the lead developer is causing the value of whatever you own to plummet. On top of that, even if Anoncoin were a store of value, there is now little utility in holding ANC: you can not exchange it, and you can not transfer it with all the craziness in the network difficulty.

So, is the verdict that the Anoncoin experiment is a failure? Or will Meeh actually wake up and patch his sinking ship?
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 29, 2014, 10:22:39 AM
I am using v.0.8.8.1.

That is too old. You need to upgrade to current version from the OP.

Then wait 24 hours to see if the transaction eventually goes through.

If not, then backup your wallet and then delete the wallet.bin file (not .keys file) and restart the wallet. The coins will be returned to your balance.

Thanks, I just upgraded to 0.8.8.4-release, and replaced all my wallet files with backed up versions. Everything synchs up fine, and my balance returned to what it was before.

However, now, when I try to make a transaction, I get this error message

Code:
Error: transaction <764cee70aaf2d9c320a9578efe5cc3f5fc43304a173f56bd6792172a8755b93f> was rejected by daemon with status "Failed"

and in the deamon, I get

Code:
2014-Oct-29 11:15:17.503604 [RPC0][on_send_raw_tx]: Failed to process tx

The same thing happens if I use the official osx binaries, or if I install by brew. Any ideas?
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 28, 2014, 04:50:43 PM
I'm hoping that someone can help me with a transaction I sent, but that appears to have disappeared. This is my first ever transaction with monero, so perhaps I have done something stupid.

So, I sent some XMR to an exchange (poloniex) using the command

Code:
transfer 0 47sghzufGhJJDQEbScMCwVBimTuq6L5JiRixD8VeGbpjCTA12noXmi4ZyBZLc99e66NtnKff34fHsGRoyZk3ES1s1V4QVcB 20.06 c64549c6664a13a100a325d75cd61d74fdd9a11924973e844b0d0c4df8d4a675

and I got the response

Code:
Money successfully sent, transaction <7b25c9881c5fc89b68c6ae253402073fdf6b72891c26e4685f609574e4796fb1>

After almost three hours, it hasn't shown up at the exchange, and if I use the command

Code:
payments 7b25c9881c5fc89b68c6ae253402073fdf6b72891c26e4685f609574e4796fb1

I get the response that there are no payments with that ID.

Yes, I refreshed the wallet, and the amount was debited from the balance of my wallet. I am using v.0.8.8.1.

Thanks for the help

Still no apology or an actual steps to remedy this situation like showing some work being done? And by work I mean code, not a list of things anybody can pull out of their ass. A trusted person from the the larger bitcointalk community would be sufficient to take a look and give a brief summary.

Btw, its quite funny how they point to donations that have not been touched meanwhile big bucks where behind the recent p&d enabling them to take huge profits.

If anybody knows a team of devs working on a zerocoin implementation (not zerocash) let me know, I would very much much like to support them. I am really not interested in sociopaths, scammers or young boys learning to program. It is obvious Gnosis knows shit about programming and even when he finally implements ZC, the code would be shit and it will get hacked in no time.

Come check out SDC - Shadowcash, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=745352.0 . Check out the roadmap and look at the projects released thus far. Head into IRC channel on freenode #shadowcash or #shadow on irc.anonops the dev is active and avail usually everyday if you have questions.

This is the only other promising altcoin developing ZK that isn't a scam. With ANC's 2-3 month delay this leaves only SDC with the ability to release ZK in the short term.

Did I forget to mention I am not interested in scams?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=818939.0

Also, I was interested in zerocoin, not zerocash which needs a trusted setup of the initial parameters - if I understand things correctly - I would certainly trust zerocash more (even if NSA evesdrop) than some shadowcash people who could generate infinite amount of coins.

So because of that thread you denounce the entire project?

Shadows implementation, will be trustless on the initial setup parameters.
Shadowcoin/shadow send is not 100% anonymous. Please discuss that coin on that thread. Not here.

Does anyone have a chart of the total number of ANC in circulation as a function of time?

I could be wrong, but I think that about 300,000 coins have been minted in the past couple months in relation to the difficulty algorithm problems. If that is true, we will burn through a million coins (1/3 of total supply) by the end of the year.

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 12, 2014, 09:04:50 AM
Greetings.  So I've been trying to figure out what exactly zerocoin is etc and since you guys seem to be the only ones actually doing anything with it, I'm hoping you can answer my questions about it.

1. The first question is about this statement "Using 8 cores on a 2.4GHz Core i7, Zerocoin spend transactions would take about 3 seconds to generate, and about 0.5 s to verify."  What sort of time frames would that be for more a "mainsteam" system like maybe an I3.  Or, and this wasn't clear to me from the various things I was reading, are those transactions actually done by the miners and so it doesn't actually apply to regular users?

2. Is zerocoin basically just a "mixer"? i.e. you can't actually do transactions with other people with them? The zerocoin site is somewhat confusing as it talks about both zerocoin and zerocash but everytime it talks about transactions, it references zerocash.  In addition, the zerocoin whitepaper's example is of a person minting and then collecting their own coins.

3. Is there a record on the blockchain of how many coins an address minted or collected?  It would seem to me that one way or another, there would be a balance reflected on the blockchain that others could see.  So let's say I wasn't all that bright and I minted 133t coins from one wallet address and collected l337 coins on another.  In this case it wouldn't be all that hard to "track" what I was doing correct?

Here are some partial answers:

1. Not sure, but lets say that on an old system the times are 10 times slower: half a minute seems like a small price to pay for anonymity.

2. Zerocoin is in effect a mixing pool. However, the mixing pool contains everyone who ever bought a zerocoin. The size of this mixing pool will be many orders of magnitude larger than those used with other coins.

3. You are right about this example. I suspect that the wallet will have a check to make sure that the user doesn't do something stupid like that. Another potential problem is a timing analysis. If you buy some zerocoins, and then immediately redeem only a portion of them, this might look suspicious in the block chain. As far as i know, these are the only flaws with the zerocoin model: timing analysis, and minting/spending the exact same amount.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 07, 2014, 01:52:13 PM
Been reading through this thread and interested in Anoncoin, apologies if it has been answered before.

I have seen that Zerocoin has an issue with its proof/transaction sizes which will cause significant blockchain bloat. This would cause scalability/adoption issues in the future.

Has Anoncoin done anything to rectify this issue?
Yes. This has been rectified, there will be no bloat to the blockchain. The proofs are stored off the blockchain in a separate database that will be deleted periodically. You can read more about this here

74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 07, 2014, 11:41:00 AM

I know about that list if you look at my previous posts im asking where the other 95-96% of the hashrate is because you only find a few % on
those pools on that list combined.
No one seems to know or want to provide an answer to that question..
What other pools are there out there, is AnonCoin 95%:ed by chinese datacenters or!?

There have been problems recently with the hash rate going up and down by large factors when multipools join and leave. This is supposed to be fixed in an upcoming patch to the KGW algorithm that sets the difficulty. In fact, given that we are burning through 10 second blocks again, the current hash rate is likely from a multipool. About a month ago the hash rate was only a few GH/s.

If you find out the answer, please let us know. If this is a result of solo miners with scrypt asics, I don't know how you will ever find out who is responsible.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 07, 2014, 09:58:19 AM
Who are these 95% then in your humilde opinion? Ghosts miners?

Typical AnonCoin community behavior instead on entering a url or two he enter a picture and write something "funny"..
Hi RedZeppelin,

That message is from a new account with only 3 posts. Since you are new here, I would suggest that you simply ignore new users; over the past month we have been experiencing problems with trolls and sock puppets. If you didn't get the response you were looking for, it is probably because many of us now just assume that newcomers to this thread are here only for the purpose of causing problems.

The best place to get information is the anoncoin IRC channel. The devs respond within 24h (most of the time they are on line), and there is always someone there who is willing to help.

Also, as you have probably realized, the anoncoin community is very small. If you find the answers to your questions, you could help out by updating the wiki. Just PM me and I'll set you up with an account. Two pages you might want to work on are

Mining pools, and How to mine Anoncoin.

As I am not a big miner, these pages are in need of help!

Cheers,

wrt Cryptsy Xactions, @K1773R knows how to fix them ....

One I had stuck had 400 inputs, I think K1773R rebroadcast it ... not sure, maybe that's something a cron script anywhere can do ... just my bit's worth
No, the person with the stuck tx (sent or recieved) has to rebroadcast it, so i recieve it. all i did was changing max tx size and block creation settings. i pointed this out at some other posts already.

I've only had issues with transactions originating from cryptsy; never between wallets or friends. Just my $0.02. And I thought I saw a post about Darkcoin/ #drk, going open source? Does anyone else find it amusing that, (if it's true and they finally released the code) they took these steps now; with just a few weeks left until fill implementation of ANC/ZC? Just thought the timing was interesting... lols, there can be only one...

I've been hearing 'within weeks of zerocoin implementation' for ever. Is there an actually date yet?
Please be so kind to READ THE FAQ.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 02, 2014, 09:31:31 AM
SOMEONE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS.

The issue seems to be continually ignored and is of extreme importance for Anoncoin. Before Zerocoin is launced can we please try to fix whatever bug in the Anoncoin code that is causing transactions to get stuck?

Cryptocurrencies are worthless if they cannot be used in transactions (without getting stuck). Merged inputs occur and are not an excuse to ignore the issue.

Ok lets clear this up once and for all.

I have NOT modified our daemon in anyway. We have built directly from source with no changes. Anoncoind is creating these transaction and paying the large fee required. yet they are not being accepted into the chain. As you can see by my previous post.

Hello everyone,

Im currently investigating an issue with our ANC wallet where the blockchain isnt picking up the majority of our send transactions. We apologize it took us so long to spot the issue. But we are working hard on correcting it and getting the unconfirmed transactions pushed to the blockchain

Some of them get confirmed after a simple restart of the daemon but others do not/ Ill keep everyone informed when I find the solution

Thank you for your patience Smiley

UPDATE:

I think it comes down to transaction sizes. Our daemon is sending transactions that are too large to be accpeted into the chain. Im basing this on the fact that all unconfirmed send transactions have unusually high fees paid. Our default Txfee is .01 ANC and the mean over the last 1000 transactions is 0.10169169169169 which is why our withdrawal fee is set to .1 ANC

Code:
anoncoind listtransactions "" 1000 | grep -A 1 -B 4 '"confirmations" : 0,' | grep fee

Our daemon is up to date so ill be going over the source to see if I can find anything that would cause this

As you can see from my request to the daemon:

Code:
anoncoind listtransactions "" 1000 | grep -A 1 -B 4 '"confirmations" : 0,' | grep fee

I grabbed the last 1000 transactions and searched for any with "confirmations" : 0, and grabbed the fee for the transaction.

All of the unconfirmed transactions in our wallet paid a high fee suggesting its due to block size.

To counteract this until the issue is resolved by the developers i have merged any input in our wallet less than .1 anc ( about 50k of them ) into inputs over 1 ANC. These may have broken down to some smaller ones now so ill likely have to run it again

Here are some others with the same problem

Same Problem.

It makes me mad all the time  Angry

And It's not good at all for beginners who want to buy into ANC when there are problems with Buying and Withdrawing.

Same problem. Tried to withdraw from bleutrade 2 days ago and the transaction still havent gone trough. To fix this should be highest priority.

Anyone else with the following problems with ANC?  My multipool operator sent earned ANC to me on August 18 at 2:01AM CDT, was not received and posted to my wallet until August 21 at 13:58 CDT.  The multipool operator states:  "The transaction hasn't been included in a block yet.  It should make it into a block eventually and be confirmed.  I have no control over this.  It's been an ongoing issue with the ANC network for a few weeks now."  That would seem to be a very strong negative against this coin.

Yes, I am on the anonmining.com pool and it took a couple of days for an autotransfer to actually post to my wallet.

It was only 5 ANCs.

What gives?

In conclusion this is not a problem with cryptsy or "craptsy" as it is being called. It seems meeh and k1773R are aware and getting these transactions to confirm eventually so i see no reason to suspend the wallet as suggested above

K1773R claims that the problem is with Cryptsy, and that he is not interested in fixing their problems.

Well Mullick (Crytpsy rep) disagrees. The point is that it needs to be fixed. If ANC wants to attract new investors we cant have transactions getting stuck. Stuck transactions = unusable currency.

Zercoin is what we are looking forward to. But we need to fix our current codebase. If people start buying ANC during Zerocoin beta and get transactions stuck faith will be lost before public release. Since our code is open source, others will steal the hard work of Gnosis on Zerocoin and implement it without the bugs (stuck transactions) that are currently being ignored.

This needs to be top priority.
I wish that this were fixed as well. However, if the problem is Cryptsy, then investors should lose faith in them, not Anoncoin.

Everyone on this thread agrees that Cryptsy blows for reasons other than the stuck transactions. Have you ever dealt with their "customer services"? Have ever noticed the large number of scam coins they are dealing in?

Looks great! As soon as Geekz enables images on the wiki, we can add a copy there as well.

Hey lunokhod2,
Images have been enabled for over few weeks now. I told n00n on how to use it.
Hi Geekz, as we discussed on IRC as few weeks ago, the image upload is not working. When I try to upload an image, I get the following error:
