1  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: What's a good wallet that I can use my mycelium seed with? on: April 14, 2015, 02:04:57 AM
Wow. I think I got it. I owe some tips.

Use the latest electrum (2.0 afaik it can restore your mycelium wallet); yes, yo can download mycelium for android and use it there. Multibit HD might be able to restore it too (but its on beta); you can also use greenaddress for computer or android.

Well, while multibit hd is syncing, I tried to download the newest electrum version. I downloaded it and opened it like I opened the last version except, this time, it says "non hexadecimal digit found" or something and nothing happens (on a mac). Maybe I should try it from a different computer.

Feel free to wait for multibit and if nothing works, give a try to GreenAddress for computer. I'm sure that it would work on android greenaddress or greenbits or mycelium for android.

Just in the off chance you know, do you know if the mycelium app required a password when you were getting your mnemonic? Everything has asked me to put a password in or make a password and I don't remember having one. I just remember having to write this down.

I just tried it with electrum 1.9.8 and it won't restore the wallet. When I enter in the passphrase, nothing happens. Am I being an idiot? is electrum bip 39?

Well, I posted a while back about mycelium messing up on my phone. I thankfully still had the series of words they told me to write down. If I had to, can I go buy a trezor/android phone and download the android mycelium wallet? Any other way to do it? I couldn't figure out how to do it with multibit which is what a mycelium help guy said to do.
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox lost 750K Bitcoins? on: February 25, 2014, 03:26:57 PM
Were they stolen and still could be in circulation?

If the background to that rumour is true and its been actioned over a long period, then it's likely the perp sold the coins as they aquired them. That is, they're not sat there holding 750k BTC but rather the price over the last few years has been depressed by those being sold. The theft then only becomes obvious now and those who thought they had coins on MtGox didn't really hold anything (flashes of fiat reality in my head), coupled with that all holders of BTC who've been spending in the real world on product or back out to fiat, have lost money to those theiving.

Which then is a good sign perhaps that the appitite for Bitcoins was sufficient to absorb that amount and still show a healthy rise. We'll have to wait and see now, if then the price of coins avaliable without MtGox interference, suggests there really is more demand than easy forged supply.

If the coins were stolen, I believe it would have to have been done in a situation like you just described. What I can't understand is the stupidity involved. In order for this to happen all the way until you have only a couple thousand BTC left to your company's name, you have to be completely and utterly incompetent not for weeks or months, but for years on end. You would have to never ever realize that "hey I am bleeding money and not making any." They have to be almost impossibly stupid for this to happen. I don't know if we will ever get the full picture.

So much energy being wasted on mining, save the planet maaaaaaannn. But seriously, there is so much energy/power being used in mining. It's an obscene amount.

How much energy do you think it takes to ship fiat currency around the world? To print it? How many resources do bank branches and sky scrapers use? These things are much more obscene in wasting energy but that is just my opinion.

BLACK AND WHITE. CLEAR AS CRYSTAL. YOU ABUSED TRANSACTION MALLEABILITY AND NOW THE EXCHANGES MUST BE SHUT DOWN, WASHED AND STERILIZED! so you get......NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY, SIR!
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why people buy not profitable hardware? on: January 29, 2014, 05:12:42 AM
I think it is just fascinating. Even if the antminer I just bought only mined 0.001 bitcoins its whole life, its just cool that it is actually mining. Ya, I could have used that gift card to buy a shitty pair of Beats headphones all the kids are wearing but I would rather get a USB mining device and learn about mining bitcoin.
