1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HYPER ~The Game Currency ~ Building MMO ~5% PoS ~ Games Are Live Come Play on: June 28, 2014, 06:19:01 PM
Yet another peek at the HYPER MMO under development currently.
• This is not not finalized and changes should be expected.
• Concept art is for illustration only.

UNIVERSALIS COMPENDIUM VOL. 395c

Entry: HYPER
See Also: Black Hole, Wormhole, Kerr Theorem, nth Element, Exodus, Bridging, Dyson’s Swarm, Excaminer

Chapter 1: Introduction

HYPER, believed to have been discovered by the pre-civilized before the Exodus, is without question the most important and sought-after element in the universe. Its importance simply cannot be overstated, with critical usage in a wide variety of industries and sectors, including medicine, biotech, manufacturing, arms, transportation, and faster-than-light (FTL) travel.

Chapter 12: Natural Synthesis

In the brief moment of singularity during a supernova, the monstrous collisions of gravitational, heat, mechanical wave, mechanical work, magnetic and kinetic energies will result in the folding of time and space, effectively triggering a reverse Big Bang process. The phenomenon also creates a bridge that miraculously allows the materialization of dark energy and dark matter into solid matter, in the form of HYPERs.

[…]

In the aftermath of supernovas, the presence of HYPERs will become progressively more prevalent as the gravitational field of black hole began to strengthen.  Incredibly, HYPERs are immune to the gigantic gravitational pull of black holes…

 […]

… The very existence of HYPERs defies every laws of the physical universe. No sentient civilization have been able to adequately explain, nevermind replicate the process…

Chapter 33: Chemical Properties

HYPER, popularly known by its chemical symbol of Ħ, is the heaviest naturally occurring element in the universe. In its natural state, HYPERs typically clump together to form beautiful, free-floating yellowish-gold crystalline shapes.

Atomic Symbol: Ħ
Atomic Number: 288
Atomic Weight: 618.05938
Electron Configuration: NA (the molecular orbitals of Ħ electrons are perpetually changing, never settling into a constant state)
Melting Point: 16,600.1 K
Boiling Point: 24,651 K
Evaporation Heat: NA (HYPERs never evaporate, under any conditions)

[…]

HYPERs are usually distributed in capsule, powder and liquid form…

Chapter 71: Mining

HYPERs are regularly found scattered in a haphazard orbit located about a quarter to half a parsec away from mature black holes. It should come as no surprise then that the casualty rates of HYPER miners are exceptionally high; it is, by far, the most dangerous job out there.

HYPERs are mined using a reverse Dyson Swarm, an energy harnessing theorem that many believe dates back to pre-civilized era. A large array of excaminers are positioned in a fluid, rotating swarm around the black hole. The swarm will usually start from a distance of approximately +2 parsecs away from the black hole, before gradually tightening its orbit until the gravitational pull began to overcome booster resistance...

Chapter 92: Applications

The extremely versatile HYPER is capable of activating positive biological, chemical and mechanical reactions even at small doses. Some of the more popular applications of HYPERs includes:

• Food additives: HYPER increases immunity levels and extends life expectancy of users.
• Fuel Additives: From liquid hydrogen to helium rods, HYPERs increases fuel efficiency at an exponential rate, often by several thousand percent.
• Alloy manufacturing: The presence of HYPERs increase the strength and durability of practically all alloys.
• Agriculture: Farmlands that are sprinkled with a very light liquid mixture of HYPERs will enjoy several decades’ worth of high intensity and high quality crop growth…

I have just created a thread in the Scam Accusations section for Leptoon. Since he has confessed to his theft, I think the thread is needed.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=664250.0

For what it's worth, I trust Hyperfuture. He has always answered my questions honestly and honored his commitments.

It's always going to be a challenge to develop an MMO with a budget of just half a million HYPERs, and the theft and wild scam accusations are not making things any easier.

UNIVERSALIS COMPENDIUM, VOL. 118

Entry: Arketh
See also: Virgo SuperCluster, Arketh Collective, Arkethan, Hydrogen-based life form, Dark Arketh, Arketh Prime, Arketh Major, Arketh Minor, Ayyad

Chapter 18: General

The Arketh Collective is a star system located at the southwestern fringes of the Virgo SuperCluster. Arketh Collective consists of a single red dwarf star (Stelo), five planetary bodies (Dark Arketh, Arketh Prime, Arketh Major, Arketh Minor and Ayyad) and an incredibly voluminous presence of free floating hydrogen and helium…

Chapter 21: Stelo

Stelo is a class M spectral-type red dwarf star with a surface temperature of approximately 3,500 K. Despite the star-wide presence of nuclear fusion of hydrogen, Stelo emits very little full spectrum light. However, its 0.65 M solar mass is sufficient to create a stable orbit for five major planetary bodies. These five planets, nevertheless, are tidally locked, with each half in either constant daylight or night.

Stelo’s dim emissions are dominated by infrared-heavy, zero ultraviolet light spectrum that appears almost pitch black to retinal-based eyesight. In addition, visiting off-worlders must wear specially coated infrared goggles to prevent permanent blindness...

Characteristics:

Variable type: Flare star
Spectral Class: M2n
Mass: 0.63 M (887,841,718,507,711,800 km3)
Temperature: 3,500 K
Age: 5 – 7 billion years

Chapter 33: Arkethan

Arkethans are one of the most unique life forms in the known universe, and likely the only hydrogen-based one. Arkethans have reportedly no solid natural form (citation pending), but possess the ability to increase its gaseous density and consequently, mass, at will to mimic shapes and perform kinetic-based movements.

The exceptionally-intelligent Arkethan race is also currently recognized as the earliest known spacefaring intelligence in the known universe, predating humanity by at least a million years. In spite of this, very few off-worlders have seen Arkethans in their natural state, owing to the widespread use of exoskeletal suits. These interchangeable and highly-adapted suits, which typically measures up to 2.5 meters in height and 500 kilograms in weight, gives Arkethans an incredible level of physical strength, dexterity and versatility...

Anthropologists almost unanimously agree that Arkethans have never developed eyesight or a system of speech, at least not in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, they create atmospheric reverberations which capture an ‘image’ of surrounding environments. These same pulsing echos also serve as a mode of communication between Arkethans. In both instances, Arkethans are capable of ‘seeing’ and ‘communicating’ at distances exceeding 300 meters.

While Arkethans can successfully comprehend the speeches of almost all extra-terrestrial races, their method of communication and vision remains an enigma for the rest of the universe. Interestingly, Arkethans have great difficulty interpreting the concept of colors...

Chapter 38: Arketh Prime

Arketh Prime is the sector’s financial and trading hub (the political and administrative center still remains in Dark Arketh).  The planet has been extensively terraformed to enable extra-terrestrial occupation.

Over two hundred gigantic habitats, which shields visitors from Stelo’s vision-impairing rays, houses several million off-worlders at any given time. An artificial ecosystem - gravity, light, temperature, vegetation, atmosphere – was created with almost zero external input…

Chapter 59: Reproduction and Social Unit

Very, very little is known about the Arkethan reproductive and social structures as visitors are strictly prohibited from entering their home planet, Dark Arketh. It is worth noting that the Arkethan population in the other four planets all originates from Dark Arketh. Further, despite numerous requests, Arkethans have refused to disclose any biological, physiological and psychological data concerning their species...

Folks, a peek at some preliminary pieces of the HYPER MMO under development currently. Needless to say, this is not finalized and changes should be expected.

CONCEPT ART (for illustration only)

UNIVERSALIS COMPENDIUM, Volume 2328
Entry: Virgo SuperCluster
See also: SuperClusters, Messier Catalog of Nebulae and Star Clusters, The New General Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars

Chapter 61: General

Diameter                       : 33 megaparsecs (2062.6 x 105 AU)
Solar Mass                    : 1015 M
Cartesian Coordinates     : SGX = 0 Mpc, SGY = 0 Mpc, SGZ = 0 Mpc

The Virgo SuperCluster (VSC) is a narrow band of space stretching approximately 120 million light years from one end to another. It is consisted primarily of a thick cluster of galaxies, gaseous continents, stars, planets, planetoids, dark matter, dark energy and space debris. Despite being only one of trillions of superclusters charted, the VSC thus far remains as the only cluster that contains sentient life forms.

Located in the massless void between the Centaurus and Hydra SuperClusters, the VSC is home to approximately 117 trillion humans, Protos, Gaians, Augments and various other carbon, hydrogen and helium-based life forms. Currently, less than 0.00003% of the hundreds of millions of galaxies inside the VSC have been terraformed for life.

[…] Chapter 62: Etymology

The VSC is believed to be a term originally used by the pre-civilized. While there have been several documented attempts to rename the VSC, its voluminous use in almost all pre-civilized literature…

[…] Chapter 65: Major Galaxies/ Star Systems

• Milky Way
• Andromeda
• Norma Cluster
• Pleiades Star Clusters
• Triangulum Galaxy
• Wolf–Lundmark–Melotte
• Antlia Dwarf
• Leo A
• M84

[…] Chapter 69: Milky Way

… Its G2V star is believed to have gone into supernova (Type II) approximately 10,000 years ago, a peculiar incident since it was a relatively young and an exceptionally stable star. The collapsing core is slowly devolving into a black hole, and has consumed several of the observable outlying planets and solid bodies.

… The Milky Way is commonly cited by conspiracy theorists as the location of the original home planet of humanity. However, there exists no credible evidence to supports this theory.

Hey guys.

I am Mystical Potato (no relation to Joe Satriani, though I do fly in a blue dream sometimes Wink), and I am part of the writing team for the Hyper MMO. I'm an experienced copywriter and editor, and I've also published a sci-fi novelette a couple of years ago (sold a few copies, but I've a nagging suspicion that my mum was responsible for most of the purchases).

Needless to say, we are aiming at creating a universe that is at once rich, exciting and beautiful; a universe that will hopefully keep the average bear entertained for years.

We will be developing the plot and lore meticulously from the ground up, so it will be a challenging project. Hyper community members are most welcomed to contribute their ideas (especially those that can wear Princess Leia's slave costume well Wink), so don't be shy.

Drop by at the Hyper official forum and say hello. Bring some beers though. No one likes empty-handed guests. Grin
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Expedia Starts Accepting Bitcoin for Hotel Bookings on: June 12, 2014, 07:39:39 AM
Expedia, the big online travel site, announced on Wednesday it will begin accepting bitcoin for hotel bookings through its website.

Thus it is becoming the first major travel-agency to take the digital currency.

If the reception is good, the company said it expects to bring bitcoin to its other service lines as well.

Quote
Expedia is the latest big-name retailer to embrace bitcoin. Overstock.com started accepting it in January, and the Chicago Sun-Times began accepting it in April. Dish Network announced in May that it would start accepting bitcoin. There are other travel-related services out there that take bitcoin, some smaller individual travel agencies and 9Flats, an online apartment rental site. CheapAir.com began accepting it in November. But none have the size or exposure of Expedia, which bills itself as the world’s largest full-service travel site.

Don't tell me this isn't great news!  Grin  Grin  Grin

Unfortunately, it isn't.
Walk-in rates at hotels and direct airline and vehicle bookings are almost always cheaper than booking through sites like Expedia.
Frequent travelers rarely use Expedia. In fact, first-time users are usually crestfallen once they see the prices when checking in at hotels.
There is a reason why Expedia, Orbitz, Agoda, etc are all struggling - they do not have the volume to negotiate larger deals within the very fragmented travel and tourism industries.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Capitalism and immorality on: June 02, 2014, 01:13:32 PM
When the US was formed, capitalism flourished briefly.
The economy of the colonies flourished because of the support of merchant princes. These new breed of economic barons became wealthy as a result of the Industrial Revolution. The revolution, in turn, was financed by the taxes generated from the Jamaican sugar industry. Post independence, the American socioeconomic model is extremely socialist - especially for entrepreneurs.

Capitalism, as we know it today, only emerged in the mid-19th century when more businesses began to emerge independent of the arms of the aristocracy and its proxies. However, its incredible success was achieved on the back of low-to-zero labor cost of slave laborers and an enormous amount of natural resources and land.

The issue is a complex one.

OPEC Coin goal is to provide petroleum exporting countries an alternative way to receive payments for oil that they export. We believe that this ambitious goal is quite achievable and OPEC Coin dev team along with OPEC Coin community will do our best in order to get there.

Considering OPEC net oil revenue is in excess of $1 trillion annually, this is by far, the boldest and most ambitious objective of any coin I've ever seen on Bitcointalk.  Cool

This is mere Compaq rip-off. And a crappy one at that. Shame on you.

That's uncalled for.
If you put both logo on top of one another, you can clearly see they're different.
They look similar, I'll give you that. But it happens sometimes (http://www.logoguru.co.uk/blog/identical-logo-designs/) - just like how a couple of other designs in this thread looks similar to Quicktime and the Pac Man inverted designs.
In any case, considering the hours I spent carefully perfecting the design (since I didn't use a font), I really have nothing to be ashamed about - and I have the design files to prove it.
You, however, do owe me an apology - for your scathing, over-the-top remarks (don't worry - not holding my breath).

You copied the Q from an old Compaq logo and used it. That's it. It's not "similar", it's not a coincidence, it's the exact same thing. And you want apologies? Please.
As a matter of fact, I do want an apology.
Did you try laying it on top of the other like I suggested? You would instantly realize you were wrong if you did so.
Further, your silence on the two other design similarities I've mentioned is deafening. I do hope you're not an alt.
In any case, I'm not holding my breath.

there is very little law enforcement going on around crypto in general that is why crooks from all walks of life are stealing from newbies on daily basis.
Was Mark Karpeles a poor man living in a poor country? how about Ross Ulbricht, Trendon Shavers or Charlie Shrem?
How did Charlie end up in the list of three, mate?
As far as I am aware, he was accused of money-laundering because he failed to report to FINCEN the high volume of BTC purchased by of one of his clients (who sold it to his own clients on the now-defunct Silk Road).

Just saw this a few of hours ago, and as a tattoo lover (I have three), I just have to participate.
The first time I decided to get a tattoo, I designed a complicated one featuring the Liverpool Liverbird and the five Champions League stars. Thankfully, the artist advised against it, and gave me some guidance. The key, he said, was to have a core theme, keep it bold and simple, and make sure you won't be embarrassed displaying it in public.

As such, after mulling over your list of requirements (Alêya Lovi Thai/21.1.12/heart shape/font continuity), I came up with the below. Hope you like it!

Design: https://i.imgur.com/g5GqIah.png
Mock Up: https://i.imgur.com/xiPeuWg.png
Also, one with Michael Cera  Wink: https://i.imgur.com/tVILYGH.png

Cheers.

ps: Regardless of your final decision, please consider posting a photo of the tattoo once you've got it done. Luck!

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ANY coin even Attempting Mass Adoption, Seriously!!!! on: April 06, 2014, 08:52:20 PM
Obviously you can see I am new around here. I have heard about Dogecoin on CNN, Bitcoin is always in the news. What about all the other coins? I am sure all the coins want the general public to learn about them. Can anyone tell me a coin that is marketing itself to the general public in any meaningful way? One that has a real plan? I am really surprised I am asking this question!!! Shocked

Don't be surprised - I've also asked myself the same thing. To answer your question, unfortunately, no (aside from BTC, naturally).

With the staggering amount of brainpower here, it is sometimes surprising to see the lack of real focus on developing an effective marketing strategy (and no, a dice game and an explorer does not constitute a comprehensive strategy). There is a reason why sales and marketing personnel are among the highest paid in most organizations in any industry.

Nevertheless, there are probably a few coins that could conceivably make the push to prime time, but lack the impetus.
Furthermore, the centralization of executive power and share of the economic pie also discourage community-driven initiatives.

there is nothing to market and if they attract smart people out there they may find themselves in trouble exposed for scammy behavior for the coin their pushing.

advertising and marketing is garbage it's why i stopped turning on my TV years ago and yeah i have a huge TV and cable
and i turn it on prob for an hr or two two watch the news or something every month or two or 3.. then commercials sicken me beyond comprehension and i shut it off.
there is no web sites i see with ads either i use Adblock plus and adblock element hider to add custom rules on Chrome and Firefox to strip it all out !

also so called Marketing is all we ever get around here.. it's non stop hype.
it's abused to the point where we're fed up with it.. we're sick of having coins pounded on us non stop.. NEW ones.. one after another. that provide nothing new !

marketing isn't going to save squat.. a product WORTH marketing will.

You're looking at it from a conventional standpoint, buddy. Product quality and value propositions are not prerequisites for successful marketing campaigns.
In addition, traditional advertising and marketing channels are no longer strategic gospel - they are part of the equation, a much more dynamic, responsive and scalable equation.

Let me give you some examples.

Venus Factor (venusfactor dot com) and Tao of Baddass (thetaoofbadass dot com/special/) are among the top selling products on Clickbank over the last couple of years, with each netting in revenues in excess of several million dollars annually. The secret behind their success? Certainly not the ebook customers are paying for. The key lies in affiliate recruitment, perfectly copywritten video content, guerrilla social media marketing, carefully developed SEO strategy and constant refocusing of target demographics.

Here's another example - the Dollar Shave Club (dollarshaveclub dot com). The company's CEO, Michael Dubin, orchestrated a carefully structured video viral campaign costing only 4,500. The ROI? 12,000 subscribers within the first 48 hours. 13 million views. Seven months later, a $ 9.8 million venture capital-funded expansion.

I could note down dozens more examples, but the single common denominator here is the marketing strategy.
