fact is mat you had btc exposed on the web with nothing but a password protecting them...

sorry the system failed you.

Yeah on this occassion, only a single password stood between thieves and my BTC. This is something that Kraken are busy pointing out to all their customers who got robbed. As for thier robbed customers who pointed out that they had 2FA activated, only for the thieves to deactivate simply by using their Kraken password to disable it, Kraken are telling those folks that this is also their fault for not having 2FA log-in enabled.

But that was just this occassion.

Plenty other incidences of exchanges robbing thier customers in crypto land where the only way the customers had of protecting themselves, would be to not have funds on the exchange.......that is all well and good, but if it isn't safe to keep funds on exchanges then it isn't safe to trade Bitcoin (or crypto) and no traders means no liquidity and no liquidity greatly undermines any crypto project.

>10% haircut must really suck, especially right before the greatest pump of all time...
I sympathize, and i wish every exchange was rock stable, extremely secure  and idiot proof. but fact is its dangerous out here.
I hope you dont abandon crypto because of this. just get away from here for a while... this place is toxic to most humans.

now, everyone go hit those buttons mat neglected to push. apparently even 2FA isn't all that safe if your computer is compromised.

Nobody appreciating Blockstream corporation's new acquisition?

http://www.coindesk.com/blockstream-wallet-greenaddress-sidechains/
Blockstream is a giant decentralized stream of blocks and private individuals. You should stop thinking of it as a corporation.

Looks like 656 is the new 666.

i guess theres some truth to that... even the "CEO" is unwilling to speak on the behalf of his "employees"

People should start to realize that an exchange isn't the right place to keep bitcoin or FIAT  money, an exchange should be used only to 'change' your bitcoin for fiat or viceversa (or also altcoin).
Mt.gox docet....

sure, but exchanges should also realize that they arnt e-wallets. allowing unprotected accounts to withdraw btc to any address without email confirmation, is probably a practice ALL exchanges should review...

Its hard to place blame on kraken, its a gr8 exchange and they have lots of neat features like that "account lock down" feature mat should have used. but i think there is still some room for improvement.

its pains me to hear these stories every once in awhile.

i can feel the train coming.

I did a 20x long on my entire life savings based on this comment... got margin called and now i'm applying to jobs at mcdonalds

where is the train??

the train is rolling around the bend, but I'd feel more bullish if you could get a better job.

I woke up to bitcoin price of $645. On my way to work I thought...I should go long. I get to work and the price is $654 already.

I normally dont play with leverage
But I figured out how to short ETH on Kraken, its so easy!
felt kinda bad, shorting someone else's market... you know? feels evil.

maybe going long on bitcoin, using someone else's dirty fiat to bump price higher, probably feels different  Cheesy

bitcoin is such a buy right now its not even funny.
despite being at in a relatively new range 666's, We see strong support.
i get that charts addicts might think a nice red candle down to high 500's is more than likely
but.... charts are lying right now. short term may or may not give a F about charts, long term certainly does not.....

It sure looks like it needs to go UP so badly!
FTFY

It sure looks like we have media coverage on the Florida court ruling about "BTCitcoin is not money!"

I feel like Florida will be buzzing a hype train, where people are encouraged to invest more without consequence!  Grin
I can already see drugs being sold in a more fashionable manner!!! Viva la Cocaina!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy ... Florida the new hub for doing white powder business!

I think the market cap on cocaine and all the other heavy drugs are more than 10$ billion.. right?

*Edit0: And edit... LOOOOL ... it just hit me... THINK ABOUT ALL THE COPS AND POLICE ORGANISATIONS having to catch them big drug deals with BTCitcoins ... The US gov will invest at least a few hundred millions if not 1-2 billions in coins for the DEA / FBI and other undercover drug spies... Hahahaha .. this is priceless!!! Cheesy

LOL
your really high right now aren't you.  Tongue

pot alone is estimated to be 10-100billion dollar market ( its hard to get a good estimate on an illicit market )

mean while, the effects of a contentious SF are still very much a fucking mystery.

not really, there have been several soft forks already and none of them had 100% support ... there's always some drooling idiot standouts who refuse to see logic or have their own logic 'construct' that escapes all others ... either way, if you don't like the soft fork code, don't run it.

i'll run it when my node no longer functions properly because it thinks >25% of the TX happening on the network are anyone-can-spend TX.
