2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Consider the Forks on: May 20, 2021, 11:58:03 PM
I always try to avoid the forks of the major cryptocurrencies unless they are forks that are well known and have survived years with different market conditions as a major crypto. Bitcoin has over 70 forks and there have been some cases of newbies trying to invest in BTC but due to one reason or the other, they end up buying a worthless BTC fork because they thought it was cheaper.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USDT keeps getting better on: May 20, 2021, 11:41:04 PM
USDT will always be a great coin, this project first introduced the concept of stable coins before a lot of other projects joined the wave  and in the midst of all the several controversies the project has faced in the past, it has always survived.
As with its advantages USDT helped me to control the dip in the value of my portfolio in d past few weeks now, i have bought back some of my coins for lesser price than i held initially and USDT made that possible
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it risky to invest in new crytpo coin/tokens??? on: May 20, 2021, 11:01:31 PM
It is always risky to invest in cryptocurrency is because 90% of the market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies is based on speculations and a lot of projects like the fundamental attribute to back up their market capitalisation this means that everything and any project can liquidate at any time when the community realises that they cannot fulfill the promises they made when the project was created however the crypto-currency market also have a lot of potential in the future development of blockchain technology so it is also a good investment but a risky one
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Real fact behind crypto ban in Nigeria on: May 20, 2021, 10:37:57 PM
It is absolutely unacceptable for any government to cripple the earning and economic potentials of their citizens just because citizens of another country has fallen victims of criminal activities of a few people.
The united states itself has not banned cryptocurrencies and have many big companies who are already adopting cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology.
The smart thing to do is to devise means of apprehending that criminals responsible for the criminal activities
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: End of memecoin season by Vitalik Buterin or not? on: May 20, 2021, 10:25:50 PM
I liked the way Vitalik handled the situation.
What i Really see here is meme coin project teams trying to trick people into investing in their project by involving Vitalik in some way and banking on the credibility it will give them.
Vitalik showed that he didn't want to play a part in such projects and it was a good move to tranfer the gains to an humanitarian cause that is in desperate need of funding.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto and energy consumption on: May 19, 2021, 11:28:14 PM
People are always quick to point fingers to cryptos  for high energy consumption but almost everything we benefit from in this technology age consumes energy and has resultant effects on the environment. Even the so called electric cars consume as much energy in there production as the carbon emission cars.
Cryptocurrencies consumes energy due to mining, but it is not as serious as it is made to seem.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should you take loan(s) to invest in crypto? on: May 19, 2021, 10:52:51 PM
Taking loans for investment reasons should be done only when the assets to be invested in are guaranteed or very likely to reap the intended rewards after a specific period of time.
That assurance does not exist in the crypto markets and i think it is unwise to take loans to invest into cryptocurrencies
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Have you given up on airdrop? on: May 19, 2021, 10:29:12 PM
Yes i have given up on airdrops, they have become so pointless that i wonder why some projects still do airdrops.
Most airdropped tokens always sit in people's wallets because they will have to pay a transaction fee that is higher than the value of the airdrop in order to send it out to an exchange
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Be Prepared for the big dump. on: May 19, 2021, 10:00:09 PM
No one can tell for sure if the dump is over or if it will continue, nobody knows that for sure so its best to be prepared, if youre trading futures, make sure you set your protective stop loss to minimize the potential losses you'll make
If you have crypto holdings, then you have a decision on your hands, to decide if you will take partials out or continue to hodl
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not panic sell when there is dump on: May 19, 2021, 09:54:23 PM
Panic selling can be both a good and a bad thing, i know some people that hodl their BTC when it started to dump from 19k+ in early 2018 and they only had regrets in the end because Bitcoin did not recover that price again for almost 3 Years.
So in a generally bearish market condition, it helps to minimize your exposure to loss, sell some portion of your portfolio yo avoid making a bigger loss if the market doesn't recover
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want Tesla to accept Doge. on: May 18, 2021, 10:47:39 PM
With the recent news about Tesla stopping to accept BTC before ill consider a news about Tesla or any other big company like that accepting cryptocurrencies as a good news, there have to be a certain assurance that they wouldn't just pullout the rug from underneath their potential customers in the same manner they did with bitcoin because if this repeats itself, it can easily be the biggest pump and dump scheme in the world
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot is the Real Ethereum killer? on: May 18, 2021, 10:16:00 PM
There is nothing like an ethereum killer, ethereum is the second top cryptocurrency for a reason, its versatility in the development of smart contracts gave birth to most of the cryptocurrencies we have in the market today, including the great Defi projects like polkadot itself.
Defi is just a niche of decentralized projects and there will still be a lot of niches, but there will only be one ethereum.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge is to hold should not be trading on: May 18, 2021, 09:59:31 PM
There is no cryptocurrency that cannot be used for trading purposes its just a matter of having the necessary skills to trade the financial markets.
Trading is not just a thing that anyone can do, it takes learning, knowledge and a lot of practice to master it, when you master the art of trading, you can trade any financial instrument
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not panic sell when there is dump on: May 18, 2021, 02:40:23 PM
Price corrections is an integral part of market structure and price movement and it is not everytime that there is a dip in price that it is actually a dump, sometimes its just a period of Retracement before price continues its move in the desired market direction.
So it is not everyone that you see a drop in price that you should panic and sell, unless you're making a conscious decision to sell and buy back at lower prices
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A common enemy in the crypto world--Elon Musk! on: May 18, 2021, 02:26:03 PM
Making investment decisions based on an influential person's opinion is never a sound way of investing because it doesn't always end well. In truth Elon never told anyone to buy BTC or doge but most people bought up these coins because of what they see as a likeness from a top tech guy like Elon.
I also dont get all the outrage because the markets has dipped a lot more in the past and will still likely dip more in the future, irrespective of if Elon tweets in support or against BTC
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will another altcoin rise to overtaken Bitcoin? on: May 13, 2021, 11:48:40 PM
I don't see this happening. It could happen maybe in 100 years time when cryptocurrencies are as easy to spend as our fiats today but realistically, BTC has always maintained a little over and under 50% of the total market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market.
With The 21 million total supply and 18million btc already mined so far, there will be more scarcity and this will increase the price more.
I cant see any cryptocurrency taking over BTC as the top cryptocurrency in the Blockchain space.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New meme coins 😂😂😂 on: May 13, 2021, 11:29:13 PM
Someone told me about Shiba Inu coin and when i did a search on coinmarketcap and i found over 10 of such coins doing massive gains in less than a week. I don't know what yo make of these coins because i think it defeats the purpose of true decentralization and will bring back the pump and dump reputation of the cryptocurrency market.
Some people will make money now in the short term, but in the long run most of these coins will fade away, so be careful if you are investing in such a project
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dump just after a new listing? on: May 13, 2021, 11:12:18 PM
A coin dumping immediately after listing isn't necessarily a bad sign, some coins can remain undervalued for a long period of time before eventually reaching for higher prices in the charts. What is important is that the project team keep working on their product even if the price dumps in the chart
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: taking profit can be hard sometimes. on: May 13, 2021, 11:01:41 PM
Taking profits should never be a hard thing for an investor especially if you want to be a successful investor, profits on paper means nothing if you are still exposed to the volatility of the cryptocurrency market and such profits can be taken away from you if the price dips, which can happen at any moment.
So its best to take profits as you see positive gains, keep your profits in stable coins and you cab reinvest when you see better lower prices
