Bitcoin Festival Lands in Shoreditch with Aim of Increasing Adoption of the Digital Currency
Friday 12th September - Sunday 21st September
Shoreditch, London

Opening Night Drinks on Friday 12th September

http://blockstock.co.uk/#registration

BlockStock, the UK's first Bitcoin festival, starts on Friday 12th September, in Shoreditch, to raise awareness of bitcoin as a digital currency. The ten-day festival is a celebration of Bitcoin as well as a series of events, activities, special offers, seminars and exhibitions interconnected with everyday high street businesses such as shops, pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes.

Created by two Bitcoin enthusiasts and supported by the London Borough of Hackney, BlockStock takes place in the heart of Tech City, Europe’s largest tech hub. Bitcoiners and those interested in Bitcoin will be able to purchase tickets to gigs and comedy shows, dine out, buy coffee, book yoga classes, attend creative workshops and a whole manner of ‘everyday’ things with the digital currency during BlockStock.

Bitcoin accepting businesses for the BlockStock festival include The Brew co-working spaces that has five locations in Shoreditch; Gallery and restaurant, The Proud Archivist; bar and live music venue Zigfrid von Underbelly on Hoxton Square; The Dictionary Hostel on Kingsland Road, plus many more.

198 businesses accept Bitcoin in the UK[1], though the majority of these are based online. BlockStock has been encouraging ‘real world’ businesses to accept Bitcoin and to benefit from the digital currency’s zero/low transaction fees, it’s risk free environment (i.e. chargebacks are not possible), and uplift of sales from Bitcoiners looking to spend their Bitcoin.

BlockStock co-Founder, Justina Cruickshank said:
“BlockStock is about showcasing how normal Bitcoin is. Hopefully, we’ll see more people reading about Bitcoin, exploring its features, and buying the digital currency as a result of the festival.

"Because as a technology, Bitcoin is incredibly useful and has vast potential for a variety of political, social and economic reasons. So, we'd also like to see participating businesses continue to accept Bitcoin after the festival as it'll help encourage more of the public to take the very simple and easy step to being part of the future of money.” She continued.

For more information about the merchants accepting Bitcoin and the events taking place during BlockStock, please visit www.BlockStock.co.uk

7  Bitcoin / Meetups / Cryptocurrency Mining Conference in October | Early Bird Tix Available! on: June 25, 2014, 04:44:23 PM

The first global conference dedicated to cryptocurrency mining, called Hashers United (www.HashersUnited.com), is taking place 10-11th October 2014, at Tuscany Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The conference will bring together professionals, hobbyists and vendors from within mining and throughout the wider cryptocurrency sector.  Attendees can expect over 35 workshops and sessions, and more than 25 speakers, including Vitalik Buterin (founder Ethereum) and Charlie Lee (creator Litecoin), specially selected for their expertise and commitment to mining and cryptocurrencies.

Whether it is Bitcoin, Litecoin or any other altcoin, at the core of a cryptocurrency are the miners. Hashers United has been created to provide a face-to-face learning environment that offers not just the benefit of networking with peers, but practical tips and guidelines on enhanced methods of coin selection; improving efficiency; beating the onset of increasing costs and generating greater profits.

The conference will feature key figures from tax, legal and regulatory bodies from the United States to provide important updates. In addition, speakers will cover topics including protocol scrutiny, algorithm analysis for better strategic planning and operations; more effective rig building; live mining demonstrations; and workshops covering profitability, investment, cryptocurrency management and more.

The team behind Hashers United is mining contract company Final Hash LLC (www.FinalHash.com) who has rig facilities based in Houston, Texas. Commenting on the launch, Executive Technical Director, Marshall Long, said: “We’re in contact with miners every day and their needs just aren’t being met via current conferences or even online.  It’s time for a ‘real world’ forum where everyone, no matter their experience, can have an open and frank discussion about the key issues they are facing and how as a community we can help each other to overcome them.”

Early Bird tickets at $199 for miners (instead of $349) and $499 for vendors (instead of $599) are now available to purchase at the conference website www.HashersUnited.com. For a limited period, Early Bird tickets have a 5% discount and can only be purchased by cryptocurrency (over 20 to choose from including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Peercoin, Darkcoin and more). Fiat currency bookings will open at the beginning of July

8  Bitcoin / Meetups / Meeting miners in the real world! on: March 31, 2014, 04:15:32 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm a massive Bitcoin enthusiast and working on an event for miners to meet and learn from each other. So I wondered how many of you have met up in the real world e.g. gone to a conference or an event etc. I have a few questions and if you could help by replying, I would greatly appreciate it!

1. What's the biggest problem you face as a miner?
2. If you could hear anyone speak at conference, who would it be?
3. Have you been to any Bitcoin conferences? If yes, which ones?
4. Have you been to any conferences at all? If so, which ones?
5. Would you pay to attend a three-day networking event that included speakers, mining bootcamps, parties etc - basically jam packed  with useful info and opportunities to network and learn from other miners? If yes, how much?
6. Which town/city are you based in?
7. Is there anything additional you'd like to add about your experiences of being a miner, what sort of mining help/advice you'd love to  hear, any events you've been to, or what you'd like to see in an event if you were to attend?

That's it. It'll only take five minutes and would be of tremendous help to me so that I can ensure I get this event right for you. If you don't want to post your answers here, please just PM me..

Thanks ever so much!
