The original wallet downloads don't work... block 500 issue?
I just tried to compile from the source code in unix and looks like there are files missing in source code...

$ make -f makefile.unix
g++ -c -O2 -msse2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -I/home/benny/Downloads/zeitcoin-master/src -I/home/benny/Downloads/zeitcoin-master/src/obj -DUSE_UPNP=0 -DUSE_IPV6=1 -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/alert.d -o obj/alert.o alert.cpp
alert.cpp:244:1: fatal error: opening dependency file obj/alert.d: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/alert.o] Error 1

There is no obj directory and obj-test directory is empty... What is going on?

 I am told there are no missing files just :
  KimLan just needs to add an obj folder or mv obj-test obj

Thanks, I figured it out, I just copied from the obj directory from a dogecoin-git repos.

dedicatedpool was a bit of a nonstarter. And I couldn't connect with hashstrike even though the pool appear to be up and running. Now with hashrate.eu but it shouldn't have taken 25 minutes to mess around and find a working pool. Can't help feeling I've missed out now... Undecided

Ok I have got the wallet by myself working with source code myself. Of all things there is a typo in one of the forms.

In the source code ./src/qt/forms/overviewpage.ui
 <string notr="true">0 VGC  /string>

It should be:
 <string notr="true">0 VGC  </string>

That has taken me a few hours to find this.

I am no developer by any means but this bug that prevents you from installing is quite poor. To me it just looks like whoever "developed" just copied the source code and not really thought about/or tested the source code compilation.

err not sure what is going on, I set myself up at pooled.cc but the block numbers look all messed up.
I see references to LTC and in my profile it appears to be set up for PCC, even though I told it to be VGC...
very confusing. I am not sure what is happening? Huh

Thanks for the update. But would like an answer to why I get a compilation error in making source and it looks like I am not the only one...

It is not like you said: See the source code, from there linux wallets can be easily compiled.

A couple of things I've noticed.
That pool keeping dropping people off at http://vgc.weminecoin.com.

Also when I get the following error when compiling the vegascoin-qt under linux with qmake:

$ qmake
Removed plural forms as the target language has less forms.
If this sounds wrong, possibly the target language is not set or recognized.
uic: Error in line 138, column 23 : Opening and ending tag mismatch.

Any help would be beneficial!
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Dogecoin Faucets running dry on: February 06, 2014, 11:56:12 PM
Greetings,

I am just getting started in the wonderful world of bitcoins and altcoins.

I have seen tons of sites where you gather some free bitcoins.

But for dogecoins, there do not appear to be that many working sites.

If anyone has more dogecoin faucets then shout it out  Smiley

The following appear to work when I visit them (Feb 6 2014):
http://www.dogefaucet.com/
http://indogewetrust.com/
http://bartstuff.eu/doge/doge2.php
http://cryptobucket.com/dogecoin_faucet.php
http://cryptobucket.com/dogecoin_faucet2.php
http://cryptobucket.com/lottocoin_faucet.php
http://dogefoode.bidouille.org/
http://faucet.io/
http://phunsauce.com/
http://wowsuchfaucet.com.ar/

I did note that some of the above sites appear to be not paying (indogewetrust has not paid into my address for over a week now) or delaying in the case of cryptobucket.

The following do not work (either dry or site is down) when I visit them (Feb 6 2014):
http://silabsoft.org/doge/
http://www.freedoge.com/
http://freedoge.we-mine.it/
http://pawcett.com/

http://wickedos.net/
