I'm not sure why you would get this error unless A) There are no OpenCL compatible  GPU devices on that machine, or B) an old version of OpenCL is installed (I test with OpenCL v0.92)

Does install complete, or does the entire install process halt?

If it completes, you can add your devices manually from the control screen.

I am hashing no problem on slush right now.  I do the full install and it doesn't see the cards that way either.

How can I verify opencl is installed?

I am running three 6970's and gett 1.2GH at slush as we speak.

Also, my AMD proc shows up as an open CL through phoenix

Adding available local devices. Please be patient...
No protocol specified
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./smartcoin_devices.py", line 5, in <module>
    devices = p.get_devices(device_type=cl.device_type.GPU)
pyopencl.RuntimeError: clGetDeviceIDs failed: device not found
done.

I am getting this during the install process.  Any ideas?

why not use ubuntu 11.04?  i understand linux coin makes is super 'easy'.

also make sure you have the latest and greatest version of smartcoin, and the stats ONLY show up properly with phoenix miner.

jondecker76 - are you saving hash rates to the db as of yet?  any logical data from the hashes either (ie - accepted/rejected/temp/load/cpu load/fan speeds?)

I would be willing to help create some type of visual history system if you were to store that?  such as spit it out to rrd graphs?  then people could scp into their boxes or do a push to an sftp server somewhere and visually see the graphs or heck, even install apache on the main box(as you are writing it for a multi-box style if i presume?)?

i always like historical data, it tells me where my boxes have been and shows me if/why i was doing poorly or well at any given day.

i currently am utilizing much code from another project that i have taken the code from and smashed it together to make it more friendly to my liking.

anyone have any interest/thoughts into this?

i could even setup a small server to send graphs to test it prior to instructing people to install more software on their boxes.  apache is great, but if not configured right, then it can be an open portal as most are aware.

It is hard coded that way for a reason.  He tells everyone to download it into their home directory.

Smartcoin.sh gets copied over to /usr/bin/smartcoin which is the initial script source then calls the rest form the users home dir

if you run it as root, just make a symlink to the directory for management sake.

i do believe he said he is going to add an option to change install location at a later point in time, which will take out all of the hard coding and turn them into db calls i would have to assume

have you attempted to trash the whole smartcoin install including removing the smartcoin in the other dir and then redoing it from ground up?

just trying to help.

same as imacros

quite personally, i just have my own scripts that poll a site for whatever change i see and then it sends me a txt msg.  that way i get it even if 3g isn't avail (yes there are places without 3g still! ARGH!)

have you tried

sudo smartcoin

?

i have the issue running it 'headless' with aticonfig calls and writing to certain dir's with ubuntu 11.04

I would say you would want the following as your first script(I removed stuff that wasn't needed and set fanspeed to 90:I don't like running fans at 100 personally):

Code:
#!/bin/bash

export AMDAPPSDKROOT=$HOME/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx64/
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${AMDAPPSDKROOT}lib/x86_64:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}

export DISPLAY=:0
aticonfig --pplib-cmd 'set fanspeed 0 90'
export DISPLAY=:0.1
aticonfig --pplib-cmd 'set fanspeed 0 90'
export DISPLAY=:0.2
aticonfig --pplib-cmd 'set fanspeed 0 90'
export DISPLAY=:0.3
aticonfig --pplib-cmd 'set fanspeed 0 90'
#Overclock GPU to 875Mhz
DISPLAY=:0 aticonfig --od-enable --adapter=all
DISPLAY=:0 aticonfig --od-setclocks=875,1000 --adapter=all

#Go into the smartcoin dir and then execute smartcoin
cd $HOME/smartcoin/
/usr/bin/smartcoin

Then your second script looks ok to me.  I have yet to test it, as I don't run 100% headless.  I don't have a monitor installed, but I do use the above, but sudo all my commands to make sure aticonfig doesn't blow up.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which of these Bitcoin investments is more profitable in your opinion? on: June 28, 2011, 10:56:36 PM
i would go with option 1.  i am mining on hardware i didn't purchase, but someone who wanted to mine had the cash to build the machines.

What are the fan speeds?

We started really getting into BT about a month ago, got our first rig fully going a few weeks back and switched over to a pool from solo as the difficulty was just killing us (rather have income then nothing).  Our 2nd rig should be fully built within a week, and will be pushing out around 4000MH.  The joy we have, our eletrical costs are 0, as we are in a municipality.  I basically see that we will make the money back from the hardware and have two killer gaming rigs (not that I game) or we can keep putting away with these machines or go ahead and use the rigs to help find a cure for cancer or something.

We need a world-wide network of bank teller window suction tube things...

I'd be selling $5 Footlongs all day long for BTC.

I would hope that we could figure out micro sized teleporters rather than tubes all over the dang place.  Can one say nightmare!
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introducing BTCnames on: June 27, 2011, 11:47:13 PM
sounds like a potentially promising notion.

i'll keep an eye here

I agree.  This must be 'crap', or as some call it 'spam'.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to invoke this miner...? on: June 27, 2011, 11:41:45 PM
i'm fairly new to btc and have yet to get anything running except the official bitcoin client.

i just ran entered all commands from the first post here:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=2636.0

and i do not know how to execute the installed miner (or did i just install a miner?  Roll Eyes) oh boy... feels good to be a noob again lol

xubuntu 10.10
i386

Did you setup your bitcoind to be a 'server' to have an rpcusername/rpcpassword?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bincoin miner as a windows service on: June 27, 2011, 11:38:52 PM
I agree with the scheduled task option.  Just make a batch file and put your whole command in that, then point the scheduled task at the batch file.

Somebody should create and promote peer-topeer bitramen...

I TOTALLY AGREE! We might as well solve the world starvation problems while we are at it, and somehow magically create clean water for everyone too! Smiley

I would hope I was not taken seriously!
