Thanks for the article link. It seems to me that the company is making good on their promise, maybe not as fast as the folks nearby would like, but still, progress is being made. Sam But at same time, they also claim noise they made is within normal range and not aware of health problem caused by their noise. To me, it seems they only plan to reduce it enough to win in a court. The health claims are subjective. The article offers no objective evidence that the noise was the cause of any ailments. But, I agree that it would be really nice to sit on the back porch and watch the sunset in comfort. That's not too much to ask in ones own home in the country. |

Well, I guess you're retired so you now have the time to wander around and do investigative reporting  . Let us know if you do that. Folks that live there may not want to sell. I wonder which was first, the power plants or homes? The article says that this is loading down an already stressed grid, but it seems to me that putting industry next to the power generation would NOT be a load on our grid since that portion of the grid is a few feet away. Also they are concerned about the emissions of the power generation, Natural Gas has far lower emissions than coal, but not as low as the nuclear reactor just west of this site. Sam |

I posted earlier that the company says that they have shut down a large number of miners, have started building a sound barrier and are converting to immersion cooling. I asked if that was true or not. Nobody confirmed nor denied what the company said they were doing, just more BMW'ing. So if the company is doing what they claim to be doing, then what more can you demand? If not then by all means continue bitching. But show me the objective truth that they are NOT doing what they say they are doing. Sam |

By all means, try Linux on that Winbloze box. I had really good luck with my Pi 4 and the R606's, btw.
Windoze is usually the issue with the USB communications. There is not a thing that M$ has touched and made better.

When I was a kid my home town built a "community support" race track at the fairgrounds. Then the community support turned into people complaining about the the noise Stock Car's make. Sounds like it could be a similar situation.

Was it the original people or did the neighborhood demographics change? I have seen that a lot the old people want 'X' and years later when they sell the new people look at 'X' and try to get rid of it because they want 'Y' -Dave Original People. The track only operated 2 or 3 season's, if I remember correctly. The neighborhoods were the same people, more or less. |

1) The amount of power that is generated is NOT the problem for the most part. It's the DISTRIBUTION that needs to be updated.
Well, it looks like power distribution is not a problem here. A Natural Gas Power Generation facility, literally, next door as well as Hydro and Nuclear in the same area. But, yes, our power grid had been maxed out for decades now and is in grave need of updating. Sam |

I doubt your laptop will provide the needed 3.1, or so, Amps. A powered hub would be better, but most of those don't provide that much current either. Sidehack makes his own powered hub for this purpose. Windoze doesn't work well, most people use a Pi 4 and a GekkoScience Hub.
Make sure you have a good fan on it too.

are you refering to zadig to install winusb to the device? if so zadig doesnt detect the device as connected so no ive not installed it. Yes, I'm referring to using Zadig to install the WinUSB driver. So if the device isn't being recognized then you must have bad hardware somewhere, miner, PC, cable, Power Supply, ... |
