1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: September 04, 2018, 02:55:14 PM
I found the 12ngg address. Luckily I named each withdrawal address when I processed them through Kraken...this address is linked with a bitcoin atm I have used to withdraw in the past.
~
I have sent funds to this atm before from both Kraken and Coinbase only confusing part is how did the transaction #1 find its way into my coinbase account if this address is linked with a third party ATM.
if you have used it to withdraw in the past, then it would show on the blockchain
but there are only two incoming transactions on that address and both was made on Aug 9th
also if you used 2 addresses from ATM that forward to 2 different coinbase addresses,
then you should be consciously linking the addresses, do you remember doing them?
coinbase addresses 33ppd... 36ii5... 3BnLn... was created in the same day with those transactions
they were done on August 9th, were you also using the ATM that day?

I also had a third transaction that same day...this transaction occurred 2 hours earlier
~
does this transaction look normal? This also went into my account no problem!
so you have 3 withdrawals to 1xxx addresses which get forwarded to your 3xxx coinbase addresses
one thing for sure it worked only for the first tx on each address and ignore the second
are you sure those addresses related to the ATM, I think they are something else
btw what is the purpose of that ATM? it accepts btc and send out btc? (less 10k sats txfee)

Lot going on here...the 12ngg does belong to the bitcoin atm. I had sent money to it before as a cash withdrawal. I have no idea how transaction #1 for $600 roughly was forwarded to my coinbase account...although I have used coinbase to withdraw to this coinbase atm as well. Transaction #2 is for sure stuck on the chain and I talked with the bitcoin atm, the 12ngg does belong to them and they are working on a solution today to get me my money. I assume as I sent to this address on accident that they were not looking for funds so they did not do anything with them
2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: September 03, 2018, 03:12:28 PM
I believe I stumbled upon the answer in my Kraken account...

You can save wallet addresses when you withdraw money...I found the 12ngg address. Luckily I named each withdrawal address when I processed them through Kraken...this address is linked with a bitcoin atm I have used to withdraw in the past. Essentially I selected this on accident...the atn company has the private key correct? They were not expecting the money to be sent to them, why it is still sitting on the chain

Would it be as simple contacting them and having it sent back to me? or how would this process work?

Yes, the ATM provider in this case has the private key to this address.

You might try to contact them, but if this address isn't actively a deposit address for your account, they probably won't do much for you.

It would be still worth contacting them.

I have sent funds to this atm before from both Kraken and Coinbase only confusing part is how did the transaction #1 find its way into my coinbase account if this address is linked with a third party ATM.

This seems really weird. There is no practical reason for the atm provider to forward your payment to your coinbase account..

Would you think they would release the private key to me? So are these funds sitting in that wallet address or still on the block chain?

If they want to help me are they capable of sending funds back? Or how would they help me in this case
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: September 03, 2018, 01:27:39 PM
And there is no possibility that you have confused the deposit address from coinbase with a 'wallet' address from coinbase ?
Did you ever use an 'online wallet' (from coinbase) ?

Can you tell us which version of the coinbase app you are using on your mobile ?

I only used the wallet addresses that were created inside the app...

I believe I stumbled upon the answer in my Kraken account...

Those addresses are the same when I copy them...they do not change
Have you upgraded the wallet since the first transaction?

I have not upgraded the wallet at all..I went through every account on coinbase I have and the 12ngg does not appear in anything. Only the 36ii address appears...

I also had a third transaction that same day...this transaction occurred 2 hours earlier

The address that shows in my Kraken account as where the money was sent is the following...
1AFqDhC98SnqtTYoRG68SLu2qNCnUdfeNh

Now this 1AF is also not associated with my coinbase account...the address below is what is associated with this deposit into coinbase...

0.06001968 BTC to
33ppd1SMCU63yQCKyhoX8ZVf1ZQX67VS8H (spent)

does this transaction look normal? This also went into my account no problem!

Could something be up on Kraken end?

So we can eliminate there possibility of malware, can you please try the following:

- open coinbase wallet
- get deposit address like you did previously
- copy/paste that address into another app (like email or browser or notepad)

Is that address pasted identical? Or is it changed?

Those addresses are the same when I copy them...they do not change

this is just my little tx forensic, may or may not be correct Tongue
as you can see above, both transactions TX1A & TX1B was confirmed in a single block 535949
TX1B is moving an unconfirmed utxo (at that time) and using a default txfee of 10k satoshi
it's unlikey done by coinbase (like TX1C), or any exchange or online wallet
exchanges would wait for at least 1 confirmation before moving fund

Thanks for the input...not sure what any of the tx forensic means?

Try to figure this out, how many bitcoin wallets do you have?

I only use Coinbase and Kraken. That is it...I have a few diff wallets within coinbase but none show a balance.

Hope this helps and I appreciate your help or advise/help

Also, all the different wallets you have in coinbase, does any address start with a 1?

I use the app for iPhone. The wallet where the transaction #1 was deposited into starts with a 3

My other two accounts both start with 1 when I get a wallet address

Looks like I am screwed. Damn can’t afford to be out this money!

I wouldn't say the money is gone yet, it is still on the block chain in the same address you sent it to.
You just have to figure out who has the key, you or coinbase.
If it leaves that address, then you could say it's gone.

Appreciate the optimism. I only operate with Kraken and Coinbase, I don’t know that I have a way of figuring out where 12ngg came from as I do believe it was coinbase. How else would deposit #1 find its way into my coinbase account? Thinking back to that day I did call coinbase a few hours after the second transaction hadn’t posted...the person who answered the phone had mentioned there was an issue with bitcoin that day not sure if it was coinbase related or not. My only thought is that the coinbase app gave me the 12ngg somehow and I used it...but then where does 36ii come from!? Has anyone ever seen what happened in my transaction? Where I send to one address and then it ends up going to a second address?

The two transactions were 15min apart and I did not go into my app and regenerate a new wallet address, I simply pasted the previous (12ngg) and sent deposit #2 which did not get picked up and sent to 36ii

What is a private key? And how does one obtain it!?
10  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: September 01, 2018, 11:19:37 AM
Any possibility that this is a new variant of the clipboard virus that remembers the original address that it is replacing... Waits for the transaction to be created and if the value is below a certain value it fowards the payment to the original address to try and avoid detection?

I'm thinking this isn't likely, as the OP claims they did all this on an iPhone... And I am not aware of any current iOS clipboard malware.

Very strange that the Coinbase app would give a 1-type address... They were supposed to be switching to P2WPKH-P2SH SegWit addresses.

@OP, what happens if you got the Coinbase app and try to get a deposit address now? What sort of address does it generate? "1xxxx" or "3xxxx"? Huh

Looks like I am screwed. Damn can’t afford to be out this money!

But to answer your question it is spitting out addresses starting with 3, wish there was someway to pull the money off. I would gladly pay if someone knew what to do.

Sad

Ok, after take a look to the addy ( https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj ) we can discard:

1.- Addy typo.
2.- Two deposits on the same transaction.

I don't have much experience with coinbase, but some exchangers change your depo addy after make a depo, you can verify if this is the scenario on the deposit tab in coin base.

The step to fix it, is to send a mail to coinbase support, and give them all the info you show us. Should be something like:

Quote
Hello support

10 days ago i make a depo of 0.094 btc to my deposit addy, 10 minutes later i make another depo of 0.62574.  The problem is i only receive the first one in my coinbase account but the second one doesn't show in my balance, i verify the blockchain and both transactions has been confirmed: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj

Hope you can help me to fix this issue and recover my money, thanks.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input...only problem is that my coinbase account wallet address history only shows 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE this address. After I sent the transactions to 12ngg wallet address the first transaction was immediately sent to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE and entered into my account at coinbase...second transaction was not ever put into coinbase
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: August 31, 2018, 03:07:12 PM
Kraken says the transaction was successful so they cannot do anything on there end...Coinbase says that the wallet address is not linked to my coinbase account...however this is not true as transaction #1 for $600 roughly went into my coinbase wallet...transaction #2 is still sitting on the block chain and is roughly $4,000 which is a lot for me.
then you need to address this to coinbase support
make sure you pointed out you are receiving the 2nd payment on the same (previous) receiving address
I suspect this is a 2-payment-in-1-txid issue, which sometime the 2nd not get picked up by the system
by any chance you are willing to tell us corresponding address and both transaction ids?

How would I go about fixing if it is indeed a 2-payment-in-1-txid issue?

I copied the address from coinbase and pasted into my kraken withdraw...then sent again 15min later without going into coinbase and generating a new wallet address...sometimes coinbase gives you the same wallet address when transactions are close together
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: August 31, 2018, 02:45:33 PM
I think I got a hint on this.
Because the transactions and your statement can be linked in a "scenario".

But before that, just a list of possibilities:
  • Those SegWit addresses (inputs from [f1c52f3edd8]&[afc314f97a] tx) belong to Kraken which are the two withdrawals that you've made.
  • After 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj received the first transaction (0.09481172 BTC) you/he sent it immediately to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE which belongs to your Coinbase account that surely reflects as balance.
  • Now that you're convinced that it is "legit" you've sent the actual amount that you want to move to coinbase (0.62574 BTC) to 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj again.

The real question is: where did you get this address: 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj?

BTW, Only OLD Coinbase addresses starts with "1"

Can you help me out with this? I am not sure what to do

Thanks

So what I am grasping is that I am out of luck?

If my second transaction is not posted but still showing on the blockchain is there anyway to access it?

On my kraken account both withdrawals were indeed sent to this address:
12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj

Transaction #1 was then sent to
36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE....which is linked to coinbase but was not the wallet that the official app generated

Transaction #2 still sits in limbo..any ideas or thoughts on what I need to tell or ask coinbase? Also is there anyway to access these funds or use (CPFP) or (RBF) Methods

Can Kraken cancel or pull back the transaction at this point?

Any and all of your help is much appreciated!
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: August 31, 2018, 02:19:41 PM
Not sure this helps, but if the address you used(12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj) was a one-time address from coinbase. Then coinbase would have the would have the private key to address (12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj), depending on their program, they should be able to sweep it again into your account.

This could be the issue...how do I know if it was a one time address...I do not believe I was scammed. I generated the 12ngg address sent the first transaction and without going back to coinbase to generate another wallet address for the same account I used the 12ngg...could this be the problem? The main concern is that coinbase keeps saying it isnt linked with them...when clearly the first transaction went through but was rerouted? to another address beginning 36ii5

The real question is: where did you get this address: 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj?

OP has mentioned that he got that address from his coinbase mobile app (on his iphone).

I am still waiting for the answer whether he is using the official ios app from coinbase.

Either it is a malicious application or OP did use a intermediary wallet. That's all i can think of.

BOB I did use the official app...what is confusing is how one transaction makes it into my coinbase wallet and the second transaction did not. I am royally screwed if I can't figure this out...greatly appreciate your help

Could it be a coinbase error with the wallet address they provided

The 12ngg does not show in my coinbase wallet history...I don't understand this? Only the 36ii5 address does...
Could it be 12ngg~ is one of your own addresses? Have you checked all other wallets you use?
My guess is you withdrew to your own wallet, then forwarded it to Coinbase, and forgot to do the second step when you did it again.

Note that it's always recommended to withdraw to your own wallet first, instead of sending coins from one exchange to another one. By sending it to your own wallet, you can always prove ownership of the address if it's needed later on.
The question is: do you own 12ngg~?

What do you mean? Sorry I am a noob...

I only have Kraken account and Coinbase account...I do not show any balance on either

The 12ngg does not show in my coinbase wallet history...I don't understand this? Only the 36ii5 address does...

This does make sense.

From the coinbase FAQ:
Quote
Coinbase began implementing SegWit across our platform on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. We will progressively update all customer Bitcoin addresses to be SegWit-compatible (SegWit addresses) over the following week.

So, the 12ngg.. is somehow a different address (not from coinbase).
Did you use any software wallet on your PC / mobile ?

I did everything on my iphone...I have the coinbase app where I generated the wallet address...after I copied it I then went to Kraken on safari and pasted into the withdrawal form.

What is confusing is how did the first transaction make it into coinbase? On Kraken each withdrawal shows that I sent to the same wallet adress..that being the 12ngg
20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP on: August 31, 2018, 12:34:55 PM
Yes I copied the 12ngg...into Kraken to send funds to this coinbase wallet...how does the 36ii5 come into play?

The 12ngg does not show as a coinbase wallet in my wallet history..but 36ii5 does?

Did you directly copy the deposit address from coinbase and pasted it into the withdrawal field on kraken ?

Because somehow there is an intermediary address (12ngg..) between your withdrawal of kraken and the deposit to coinbase (36ii5..).

Edit:
Yes I sent from Kraken to Coinbase...the 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj is where I sent both transactions...

I thought this is what was given to me by coinbase when I copied and pasted from my coinbase mobile app into Kraken, I did send the transactions 15min apart..what do I do?

Thats weird. But i believe coinbase switched to p2sh segwit addresses (starting with 3..) ? Or am i wrong here?
Did you use the official app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinbase.android) to get the deposit address??

Yes I directly copied from the official coinbase app...I have an iphone. I went into coinbase and selected the account I named "Cash Out Account" top right of screen there is a button you hit which pulls up a screen saying only send BTC to this address...I hit show address and copy the address from there. As far as I am concerned the 12ngg is from coinbase? As the first transaction made it successfully into my coinbase account
