Anyone know the reasoning behind the DOS?

Pooled mining and hoarding.  Given that we expect there to be a hard limit on the number of eventual bitcoins, its safe to assume that everyone feels that this finite resource will go up in value drastically once that hard ceiling is reached (if bitcoin survives as being useful for that long).

I have a quad core i7 920 cpu overclocked to 3.6 GHz and have been running the bitcoin client for about a years time now.  I definitely don't run my computer 24/7, but I would say I average at least 3 hours per day every day 365 days a year.  The priority of the client is set to high, and the "Generate Bitcoins" thing is enabled as well.

Is this normal?  I'm sure people ask this all the time, but I feel like I must be doing something wrong to have not even generated a single bitcoin so far.

I've had the bit torrent client running for nearly a year now and no bitcoins so since the market crashed, I've decided to buy in instead.  I only have paypal though so I was hoping to post a request to buy bitcoins via paypal on this thread:

As the price of bitcoins is pretty fluid right now, I'd really like to post as soon as humanly possible.  Thanks for your time!

I have been running a bitcoin client for nearly a year now and sadly I've generated no bitcoins Sad  So I figured its time to get in on the market by simply buying my way in and seeing where it goes from there!  My computer has an i7 920 overclocked to 3.6 GHz, so perhaps I was doing something wrong with the bit torrent client?  I tried to get in on the CUDA action with my Radeon 5870 but I never got everything running properly.
