1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ ZEIT ★ [COMMUNITY & KNIGHTS] [ULTRA LOW INFLATION] on: February 27, 2018, 09:33:22 AM
So, you've proven my point, Zin-Zang, ZEIT has no USP, it's just a MeToo Crypto with it's roots in TZM (hence the ZCM) but no intent to actually DO anything, it's utterly worthless and therefore a waste of electricity & storage/network capacity.

I posted again for those with more patience for such selfishness and greed than I have and unless I'm banned before the interests of Crypto and social change come up again, I'll post here again when I see fit.
But thanks for that explanation of what ZEIT is, which could be used for just about any of the other hundreds of Cryptos but nothing that distinguishes it from them.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ ZEIT ★ [COMMUNITY & KNIGHTS] [ULTRA LOW INFLATION] on: February 26, 2018, 09:11:07 PM
No one gives a Crap about Peter Joseph.
TZM lost its way, they are a useless organization now.

ZEITCOIN is making into a reality what they promised and TZM has absolutely nothing to with it.

Did you really not know that?   Cool

Well, that's clearly a dumb statement

From my experience, Zeitcoin lost it's way in the first few months, being guided down paths that would ensure profit for those involved and if any good comes of it for other people, well that would be a bonus (if only to justify why a few were making big profits).

Nope, didn't know that, still don't. What I do know now having tried to do a quick bit of research from this reply is, Peter's account blocked me on Twitter around October and I only just found out (though really can't figure why other than a minor sparring over not a lot a month earlier).

I don't know what I know, I'm not omniscient.

Just in case noone's left that actually gives a crap about TZM and therefore this doesn't get posted.

Zeitgeist/Peter Joseph talking Blockchain (I've only just started watching so I don't know where it goes).

Anyone having problems with minting CASH!!

Was 'pretty much' fine until around 11:30am on the morning of 23-01-2016 GMT, since that time only around 5-10% have confirmed (with all those I've glanced at having 0 confirmations).

Is a node down and there aren't sufficient number operating? I'm not sure on the mechanics at that level.

Thnx man, that's really great of you to help out first, then ask for donations.

Until we have someone who can tell how innocent/nefarious your changes are, I'll be holding off on donating, however we are looking for someone to bring this wallet up-to date as the original dev buggered off.
There is a kitty, so if you're interested, please let me know.

E2A:
I had a glance through the changes and nothing jumps @ me as being obviously bad but I know VERY VERY VERY VERY little about coding, so if you're going to try it, please, you're doing so AT YOUR OWN RISK.

It's an arms race in the GPU market too. Given the relatively MASSIVE efficiency improvement nVidia have brought with their Maxwell architechture, AMD will hopefully be following suit, so the next or next-next line will be mining the same hashrate for much less power too. That's what happens in the tech industry, things are out-of-date really quickly on the enthusiast end.

I've start mining again when it's cold, it's a heater that helps pay for itself.

I personally like the inverse reward to difficulty level, when the coin starts moving again it'll attract ASICs which cost far less in electric than GPUs so the high difficulty will be a good feature then. The facat that the reward is so high is because the coin appears dead.
That of course brings the subject of scrypt, should it be changed for one of the newer Xxx algos instead.

I personally want to see ASICs running blockchains, they use far less electric to run which is far better for the environment but it means distribution of the coin is more limited.

The checkpoint is used to provide extra security to the coin, this uses an external checkpoint server, when the dev abandoned this coin that stopped being updated which is why you get that error.
It will still work, but it means we have lost one extra layer of security for the coin.
I'm assuming a new checkpoint server is part of the plan if this coin is going to be saved.

That's TBD.
Checkpoints AFAIK are both a security feature and security flaw as they're meant to protect against POS attacks, but they're also a security flaw because they're centralised (think about setting complex unique passwords for every mining pool, exchange, forum, email supplier etc..... then having them all saved in a txt file in 'My Documents' as 'passwords.txt' and printed out and left on your computer desk).

I would expect we'll keep the checkpoint feature for a while until the coins are further distributed and then remove it when the coin's mature enough.

Hey everyone, Nut0.1's asked me to pop by and let you know where we're at.

A new VPS has now been sourced to host all of the things again, we've grabbed one that accepts bitcoin so we'll be looking to have a donation ticker on the new website to show required amount each month and amount raised (for those that don't want to look at an explorer), along with another domain that we'll be directing towards it.

A web dev has (hopefully) been pinned down, just need to let him know what we're looking for and pin down a price (he's happy to accept CASH and has been a bitcoin supporter from way back when it was <$10), but we still have yet to nail down an actual wallet developer. We have someone in mind, but they're cautious about taking over someone elses coin and steppin on their toes. Given that the OG developer's a scammy douche and not logged in for > 6 months, that shouldn't be hard to sort out. However, if anyone has any recommendations, please let us know soonish.

When the wheels start turning properly and there's proper news to reveal we'll be grabbing Twitters, FBs, a new BTC thread (this one will need to die as we're unable to get the permissions transferred to allow us to update the OP) along with other forums and such, if you're very active around CASH (more than myself lately), willing to help out, trustworthy and all that good stuff, let us know, we'll need people to keep those outlets up to date and replying to queries.

It's still going to be a while until things are updated, under control and moving smoothly, so you may want to take the time to snaffle up whatever CASH you can if you're looking for a store of value here as we'll hopefully start getting the market cap back up to a reasonable level in good time after re-launch.

Best person to speak to about general CASH stuff is still nut0.1 as he's the one keeping me engaged lately, for the more technical stuff, I'm the one apparently to speak to, at least until we have a wallet dev nailed down.

I've not kept up with this thread so I may have missed such talk, but what are people wanting to have on:

The website (explorer (and which one), list of and links to merchants, games, currency exchange calc, mining calc etc...)
The Wallet (news feed, auto updates, new algo, mixing service etc....)
Bare in mind, the more complex and the more that's changed, the longer it'll take and the more it'll cost.

I was about to sign off with "so long and thanks for all the fish", but I figured that sends entirely the wrong message, so I'll say.

YAY, things are still happening with CASH \o/

Hey guys,

Will be grabbing a new server to take over from Paul on Monday (don't want a recurring payment going out just before payday), should then be switching it over sometime after when we can then see about getting things moving again.

Further to Tmuir's (almost) spot on reply Smiley

Yes, you could stay on the current wallet and continue to mine coins with that wallet, however you would only be able to exchange those coins with other people on that version. Any OLD coins mined after the fork would show in an updated wallet as greyed out and unable to send/mint or do anything.

That's the side of open source that's groovy, if you want to roll out a change, you need to get a sufficient number of people to to use it. So if this dev turns out to be a crook and puts some code in the new wallet where 30% of mined coins are set to his personal wallet, we can all just swtich back to the current version and his mischievous endeavors would be for nothing if he can't convince ~80% or so of us that it's a good thing Smiley

Open Office is a good example. People weren't happy with the direction that was going in, so a group formed up to fork the code and it became Libre Office, which is now the go-to for many pepole, leaving the OoO guy's holding their hats.

If forking, what happens to the CASH coin already in people's wallet today?

Nothing changes, you'd still keep it all.

I was meant to have been given admin for the new FB page (even set up an account for it), but it never happened.

If/when forking the chain, we just need to get the exchanges and pools on board (and let as many folks as possible know ahead of time), it'll make the current chain obsolete, no point mining on a chain that's not recognised by the exchanges.

The problem with public polls is they can be abused and allows idiots/trolls to vote which skews the results. Tried it before on another coin and it got screwed up taking the coin in a bad direction.

It's times like this, I wish Google Wave hadn't been shut-down or the open sourcing of it had gone better.

Hello TuxNut! Smiley

I think the first step needed is to form a team to go over it all, they are all valid question and while I am happy to push aspects to get the project moving, i do not think i (Alone) can make the call on all the questions Smiley

re USP, i think cash coin (or alike) is great, the "Crypto" word is thrown around alot now, so nice to be different! Smiley

Thank you re the MSI idea, i can def look into the wallet idea, just for now wanted a faster way to get people to download / install and this seems the best method! Smiley

Paul.

It wasn't specifically targeted at yourself, rather all those here to get everyone that's here to think about it and respond.

I've found an in ability to get a new wallet to connect, if I download the chain from a different machine, it connects and syncs. Had the same on 3 different machine(s)/Install(s), don't know what's going on with that.

Hi Paul, thanks for Throwing your efforts towards CASH, needed someone with skills and motivation to get this thing started again.

Great call with the .msi, it really bugs me that it's not written to do for us, what would be nice though is if the user was able to specify where to save the wallet file, having it in with the chain and always called 'wallet.dat' makes automatic backups a nightmare to set up and the theft of the file from malicious software a piece of cake.

Not sure where I'll be able to help, I'm more a 'jack of many trades, master of squat' kind of guy, but if we sort out a 'jobs' page, I'm sure I'd be able to find a few things to put my name to.

I think the biggest questions are;

Stick with Scrypt and welcome the ASICs or switch to something different
Stick with PoW or go PoS only
Stick with KGW (which is known to have flaws) or switch to something newer

E2A.

I always preferred CryptoCash, but that's going to become cliche, as could CashCoin, given how many other coins, websites, services etc... with Crypto or Coin in their name. CASH is it's USP.

my career as a web developer however, my work has always been on web sites for other people instead of what I was passionate about. MyWl.lt is my first time working for myself. This is now my full time job, and I've poured my heart and soul into building a service that is reliable and secure for this growing industry.

That tells me that he has great heart, which is good, but he's still a newb from a business owner perspective. Nothing wrong with that, but building and maintaining website businesses that other people run is one thing, but being an actual business owner entails a lot more. So, he's got a reputation to build at the very least.

Me likes that quote (even though it does need some grammatical correction).
