What are the temps before the screen goes blank? The card could be overheating.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate of Sapphire R9 280X Tri-X OC 3GB GDDR5 ??? on: February 13, 2014, 07:47:45 AM
In the 730-760 kH/s range.

Possibly more with custom kernels for the 7970/280x cards.

With a 6 card setup you would need at least ~140A combined on the 12v rails.

I'm running a 4x rig with 2 Antec 650W to power the cards and 1 Corsair CX430 to run the board/cpu/risers etc.

so i put the 7970 in by it self and it fires up but after 15 min screen go's brite and wont come back but my pool says it's mining

What OS/drivers are you using?

What are the temps?

It is enough power to run.

I personally don't like to load a PSU more than 85%.

There is no advantage to run one big PSU with that many cards.

Those PSUs should be fine to run the cards.
They would be near the limit though the cards pull around 17A-22A each depending on the OC.

You might need 1 more small one to run the board/cpu/hdd etc and power the extra Molex adapters.

Do you plan on running multiple PSUs or just one big one?

How many PCI-e slots do you have on the board?

Risers are fine and you can spread the cards out so they run cooler.
Make sure to get powered ones so you don't blow out the board.

You might need to disable the second card.

Try running these settings
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
C:\path\to\cgminer.exe --scrypt -d 0 -g 2 -w 256 -I 13 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 300-1070 --gpu-memclock 1500 --auto-fan

pause

You need to change the -g.

You can't run two different gpu thread values. You can have 2 separate cgminers running one for each card.

Also if you add "pause" (without quotes) at last line in the .bat file it will allow the CMD window not to close so you could read the error.

what are the other settings you use in cgminer?

My settings:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192 --auto-fan --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 300-1070 --gpu-powertune -20 --lookup-gap 2 --auto-gpu

That gets me 710kh/s

I remember seeing some custom .bin files out there for the 7970/280x. They are supposed to get more out of the cards.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire r9 270 can't go over intensity = 13 on: February 07, 2014, 01:13:19 AM
you could try either -I 17 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 12000 or -I 19 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 16384.

that should give you a good base line. you probably need to tweak the settings a bit though.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4x R9 290X Rig? on: February 07, 2014, 01:02:12 AM
I don't have a 4x 290x rig; however I have 4x 280x rigs. I just bought powered risers.

I'm running a cheap H61 board with a 16x and 3 1x slots and 4 500w psu's (I already had them laying around)
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP Mining with xfx r9 280x tdfd on: February 07, 2014, 12:50:06 AM
If your using the rig while mining the hash rate will be a bit lower.
What are your core/mem speeds? The boxes look like artifacts maybe the clocks are too high.
What are your temps for the GPU/VRM? The card might be throttling.
What driver version are you using?
I have 1 of those cards in one of my rigs. I can only get 700-720 kh/s without the card's VRMs overheating.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4th GPU crashing CG Miner (4x Gigabyte R9 280x OC edition) on: February 06, 2014, 11:15:29 PM
What version of windows are you using?
How much system ram do you have?
Are you running CCC and all the other stuff or just drivers only?

I had a similar problem running 3 Sapphire 280x, The main display card would crash and lock up the system.
I went up to 6 GB ram and the driver stopped crashing. I had 2 GB and added a 4 GB stick. It might work with just 4 GB.
