3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Valuing your coins correctly.. on: June 27, 2011, 03:38:57 AM
i understand the whole think of being anonymous but how would ever buy anything online.....address phone number.....if you cant buy anything that isnt shipped to....that would restrict bitcoins beyond belief
and i have already seen sites that are issuing actual cards.... well thats not very anonymous either

on the newegg i apologize i had just seen it on the merchant list.....more feees boo.....

i like the whole no regulations on bitcoins more than the anonymous part of it....

and i think Bitcoin is going to have to get out there more.... whether its miners telling people....merchants or the news stations....
if all we can do is trade back and forth for other currency then it wont be worth anything

I think the bitcoins will go up....but the speed and how much would depend on what you can buy.

right now there are consumers accepting bitcoins.....but mostly tech guys....bitcoins will go up when you can
buy stuff from places like walmart.com....i do like that Newegg is starting to take them.....

I think bitcoins needs to get out there....the only way to find info on it is on the forums.....

there is no site with bitcoin news....consumers can advertise...etc.........

untill we get mainstream i dont think the price will get very high

12  Other / Beginners & Help / graphics card in PCI x1 on: June 25, 2011, 08:30:57 PM
I had heard that you could fit a PCI x16 card into the PCI x1 slot.....i know most poeple use any exterder but i dont have one yet....so i looked it up all you had to do was have alittle fun with the drimel tool and it would fit....

so i did that....i have a 5830 in the 16 slot....and a 5770 in the x1 slot....but its not showing up my device manager ....or in guiminer....

is there something i have to do to make it see the card....

the 5770 is just to mine of course

i know this is more of a tech problem...but can only post here

(some how the post thought i was finished so it only posted half so i am reposting it)

Introducing myself...."I am your father"....Almanter.....i am still new at bitcoin mining running 400m/hash (2x5770 (one just got started yesterday)) with a 5830 on its way....

LET THE QUESTIONS (aka. n00bness) BEGIN

so mining has been pretty easy...we are now up to about 1.3btc....deep bit was telling me with just my one 5770 i was getting about .24btc/24hr .......does that sound about right?

my stats so far are

1st 5770
Shares: 23928
Stale:   (2.15%)

2nd 5770 (just started)
Stale:   (1.81%)

also the 2nd 5770 is running about 30mash slower than the 1st 5770...they are on different computer bother with windows 7 and guminer....i know its not much
but is there anything i can try?

Are these stat about regular? if not how to i change that?

Also
I am running guiminer on both machines have had a connection problems but i think mostly Deepbit fault

2011-06-22 21:41:32: Listener for "Default": 22/06/2011 21:41:32, Problems communicating with bitcoin RPC

but it looks like it reconnects itself.....

There are a few errors that Guiminer console has but not sure what to do about them if anything about it
I like to be very effecient....i am not always infront of my computer so i dont like having to baby my workers...i do have to say that deepbit looks like its getting smoother....

We are also trying to get a card working on a linux machine...we have been using LinuxCoin 0.2A on a usb drive.

I boot up and then I accept the agreements. I then open terminal and type start_mining and go through the prompts. when I get to the last one it opens a second terminal window and gives me this error message.

Exception in thread Thread-2: Traceback (most recent call last):   File "/usr/lib/python2.6/threading.py", line 532, in __bootstrap_inner     self.run()   File "/usr/lib/python2.6/threading.py", line 484, in run     self.__target(*self.__args, **self.__kwargs)   File "/opt/miners/poclbm/BitcoinMiner.py", line 272, in miningThread     self.loadKernel()   File "/opt/miners/poclbm/BitcoinMiner.py", line 373, in loadKernel     binaryW = open(cacheName, 'wb') IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'dcce8da3d60a84c022cc4b67611b4972.elf'

Any help would be very appreciated.... thanks
