21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC] >> Mandatory Update to new Wallet - The first POS X11 anonymous wallet on: May 29, 2014, 01:07:45 PM
- How long has the coin been in development?

Is the start of the bitcointalk any indication of it's age? That would be very young, unless there's been ongoing development in the past. But there are no such hints in the github repository.

- When if is going to be code responsible for anonymising transaction released?

Currently the repository contains no traces of any code responsible for such features.

I've heard vague claims that the XNodes features are ought to be implemented in 3 weeks of time. That's a bold claim considering there's not even a binary release of a wallet containing such functionality.

There's not even an ongoing or planned testing phase announced by the developer or community. That's pretty crucial because lots of money is at stake. Do people really want to risk their assets in the near future? What if the implementation does not reach expectations? What if the implementation is flawed or exploitable? What if the implementation is not working? What happens when it's realesed (as claimed in 3 weeks) into the wild, to a 10$ million market. There's a reason why the likes of Zerocoin take months and are still not ready. 3 weeks is not even enough to write a moderately complex iPhone app.
Who is appointed to test and audit the code? Who is appointed to verify it?

The low price is a calm before the storm. Buy while it's cheap ;-).

This coin is like dead, too bad tho.

Nah, it's just quite early. Sure, it might not be super active now, but at least this coin is not a regular clone like most out there. The 5 algos to choose from is quite interesting. Definitely a big plus for miners.

Icelandic politician and parliament member writes about Aurora coin being a potential scam:

So how exactly is this coin supported by the government? It's not.

Auroracoin is a pump and dump. Crypto currencies are illegal in Iceland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_Bitcoins_by_country) and on top of that how do you imagine, a person or a group of people not affilitated with a government to have access to the required infrastructure to actually spread the coins among citizens? You need means of veritifaction and authorization of every single person.

Even if crypto currencies were legal in Iceland how do you imagine donating money to people for free? You can't giveaway money to people for free without the government wanting taxes from it. It's no such simple feat.

The biggest misconception is that the coin is somehow tied with the Icelandic government where in reality it isn't. It makes such claims on the official page but this is false.
They are not illegal in Iceland.  You can't buy and sell Bitcoin with other foriegn currencies.  You can mine and hold Bitcoin.  And we'll be giving them Auroracoin for FREE which is perfectly fine.  Their laws are capital controls to ensure the Krona isn't dumped.

And gifts aren't taxed in Iceland.

Since Bitcoin IS considered a foreign currency in Iceland, so are other cryptos. Now the problem is what is considered a gift. I am sure there are laws that draw a line. Is $700 USD per every citizen (which is millions of dollars) considered a gift? I do not think so - but to be sure one would need to familarize himself with the local laws.  $700 USD is  serious sum by today's exchange rates.

30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Z87-G45 6 GPU Rig - Working on: February 06, 2014, 03:42:52 PM
Is this supposed to work on a 'MSI Z87-G45 Gaming' (Version E7821IMS v1.6)?

I can get myself the mobo to recognize max 5 cards, so I followed your guide.

In my case inside the PCI settings pegs are labelled from 0, i.e

PEG0
PEG1
PEG2

I set them all to GEN2.

I also used a wire to connect those pins as in the example screenshot on slot 7.

Unfortunately I am only seeing 4 cards in BIOS eventhough 6 are connected. (slot 4 I left empty as advised)

Thanks

Anyone having trouble with accessing 'http://vertco.in/' pool?
edit: seems it's back up.
