101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does holding really make us avoid losses? on: November 17, 2018, 06:36:21 PM
As a trader I can say that Holding is the best and safest way to avoid our losses. You can hold untill you get your target price. If you can control your patience then your all losses will recover very nicely.
It isn't always the case really, you could also hodl and incur losses, its actually the easiest form of trading but I wouldn't call it the safest,in my opinion every method of trading embodies it's very own risk..
Hodling just make things a bit easier, but most people have hodled and ended up selling lower than they bought...
So every trading technique has had individuals who've been on the wrong side of it
102  Other / Meta / Re: What is this forum for? on: November 17, 2018, 06:30:55 PM
Isn't it obvious that there happens to be no chance in hell you're getting your account back, really I think ban appeals need to be stopped, and the reason/link to the plagiarised post be written in the banned message for the banned user, that way we apparently wouldn't be going back and forth on the same issue every single day

Note: If this post is helpful then Give me Merit, Thank you.
You actually came up with a guide on how to earn/increase merits and ended it up begging for one..
Going through your post,i can't find were you wrote begging for merits is one way to earn some.
Your guide is basically what everyone knows and I do not see how helpful it really is..
And more so,you wouldn't be earning any merits for it, maybe not because of the low quality but for the merit begging at the end
104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do i need an advisor for Bitcoin on: November 17, 2018, 08:53:37 AM
Hiring an advisor or a tutor maybe a little bit out of the box, especially if you're investing with a low/considerable amount of money
You could also tutor yourself, this forum is one place to enable you get started, also online articles, youtube videos etc, the internet embodies all information this days and I do not see any reason hiring a paid advisor..
But if you feel comfortable with one, hiring a trusted one would be beneficial, but play safe with such advisor, they could be fraudulent and scam you based on your ignorance and low level of intelligence on the network
105  Other / Meta / Re: Are sMerits replentished periodically? on: November 17, 2018, 08:43:36 AM
Smeriits are definitely replenished for every user on the forum, but much more quicker and easier for merit sources/good users/members,but hardly ever replenished for shitposters if they were lucky to make one good post,or plagiarise to get one, as they hardly ever get another..

Merit sources get theirs replenished monthly, with or without earning any from another user, its a reward for their contribution to the forum(searching for meritable posts)
Good posters get theirs replenished easily also,as the very sources/members are always willing to hand out merits to them for quality posts, which leads to more merits, hence more Smerits
106  Other / Meta / Re: Merit against spam: reward spam reporters & punish spammers on: November 17, 2018, 08:35:35 AM
So in conclusion, if getting rid of ALL spam is not the plan, please remind me why I should continue to report ANY spam.
The forum is never going to be an utopia,as there happens to be no utopia world/organisation,but that doesn't mean we wouldn't do our best to make it come close to that,so making reports and clearing up garbage to at least a reasonable level is quite acceptable..
No system or rules can be put in place that'll totally end spam on the forum for good
107  Other / Meta / Re: Feature to Filter out ICO from the Altcoin Announcements. on: November 17, 2018, 08:26:48 AM
Let the signatures be only seen or limit on Meta or where serious discussions pop up, rather on the boards that only care for their post counts, that would stop all the problem. ICO will be lessen too day by day.
That will lead to an influx of spam posts in meta, and considering the fact that spammers are getting more and more upgraded by the day,as they no longer post one liners, but long unmeaningful replies,it will almost be impossible to clear the trash that'll will be dropped off in meta
108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What a Jr. Member rank should look out for before promoting ICO's on the forum? on: November 15, 2018, 09:08:08 PM
The only issue with promoting ICO's on the forum,is that most users do such with low quality content/posts,it either they are in haste to meet the requirements on all their alts or simply laziness and negligence..
So I think the most important part in promoting an ICO has to be doing something with high quality content..
If only the bounty managers can take a closer look at posts quality, then it'll do the forum a whole lot of good, post doesn't have to be the best in the world, but something meaningful/readable.
109  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin discussion on: November 13, 2018, 05:40:31 PM
We've been over this Altcoin discussion board over and over again with yet no resolution, suggestions upon suggestions have been brought out on how to end or at least reduce the level of spam in there, but no action has been taken just yet,..
Something really has to be done sooner or later
110  Other / Meta / Re: Hi! Newbie here, kinda need help on: November 13, 2018, 05:37:33 PM
so my question is: are merits and trust important?
To come up with the preceding sermon, and then end up with this is rather funny and heartbreaking  Grin

Merits and trust are actually the most easy rules to understand on the forum rules,as there happen to be no complexities, and if there was,it definitely was broken down so even a lay man would understand..

If you didn't get what you needed to understand in there, then sadly no one else can explain it better to you
111  Other / Off-topic / Re: Preparation of a series of interviews with forum users on: November 13, 2018, 04:55:36 PM
Definitely an interview with forum members will be an interesting one, and fun I must say..
Considering members on the forum are anonymous,it will be actually cool to get to ask some few questions out to some willing members and get their opinions on some matters
112  Other / Meta / Re: the loss of users without merit in circulation changes everything on: November 13, 2018, 04:53:07 PM
It has been said about a million times already that the forum cares less about quantity but quality...
So losing quite a few shit posters would not be of any harm but good to the reputation of the forum in general
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [BTC inspirational] Whats ur BitCoin Business success story? on: November 11, 2018, 01:53:33 PM
I've not really being on the bitcoin network for long,i Just got introduced barely 4 months ago,and I'm still yet to earn from the system.

I'm currently apply the hodl technique, and I do hope it comes out good for me as I understand that it really takes time,as trading isn't for the weak minded, so I'll simply leave my coins in my wallet till there's a considerable rise

Maybe then I'll have a success story to tell
114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fear about merits. on: November 11, 2018, 01:49:31 PM
Right now merits is as difficult as mining bitcoin or gold here, Everyone is scrambling for it and it seems the difficulty level is building up as the days unfold. However, I want to implore high rank members to issue it out where it is deserving as some people go as far as selling it.
Really, high tech, mining rig, impeccable electricity, highly brainy dev/miners to solve cryptographic puzzles etc, that's what it takes to mine bitcoin being compared to just reading, learning and making a helpful contribution for either a merit source or a user to hand out one,and with constant quality posting, more and more comes..

Really your comparison makes the merit system look really impossible...
Merits should actually be compared to a walk in the park on a Sunday evening
115  Other / Meta / Re: Ranking based on Merit received by distinct users. on: November 11, 2018, 01:41:04 PM
I'll have to agree with you, and I think it counts for much if a user is merited by distinct/different/multiple users on the forum, its not like it changes anything
It simply shows that such users posts is widely appreciated and accepted by a wider audience on the forum...

50 merits from 50 different users is no small feat, and it simply shows consistency in quality posting
116  Other / Meta / Re: Top 30 Merit givers per board - Interactive Tool to spot possible Merit Sources on: November 11, 2018, 01:30:59 PM
for those local board which are still lacking merits, this could give you a hand in identifying possible local merit source candidates.
You'd statistics and work put in will actually be of help to them really, lately we've been getting some "we need merits sources in our local board" kinda thread, so I think with the possibility of identity the most generous merit givers, then they could just be identifying potential merit sources...

You're really putting much work into this I must say, kudos mate!!!
117  Other / Meta / Re: MYTHBUSTERS: Only high ranked users are rewarded with merits on: November 11, 2018, 01:25:01 PM
While definitely merits isn't only given to high ranked members(everyone is aware of that), merits is definitely handed out based on quality contributions, and thus whoever such contributions come/is coming from ought to be rewarded with a merit of the sources/user feels so irrespective of ranks or what have you..

So many new/demoted users have ranked up quickly, and some have even ranked up quickee than the others(the OP is an example)
As of this moment I cannot really see anything wrong with the merit system, the merit sources are doing their possible best to fish out meritable posts, and it's definitely not an easy task in the forum this days
118  Other / Meta / Re: If merit is like A lottery jackpot then it could be so hard to acquire! on: November 11, 2018, 01:14:28 PM
Merit is,and cannot be a sort of lottery, just as you and all others have said, now, what's the purpose of putting so much work into what you,i,and the two million users on this forum are all aware of
119  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible for the newbie to get merit?? on: November 11, 2018, 12:51:01 PM
But for newbies keep working hard to get merit the right way. believe me someday you will get it
Apparently you're aware of this, then why come up with this sort of post, instead of getting to work, and working hard just like you said yourself...
It's basically almost impossible to earn a merit with this sort of post you just scribbled out here, it'll more or less earn you a place in most of our users ignore lists...

IMHO,i will advice you lock this thread as soon as possible, and get to work trying to earn a merit the normal/right way
120  Other / Meta / Re: Is the new ERA of merit dying again? on: November 11, 2018, 06:07:26 AM
it is quite likely that a new rank above Legendary will be implemented in the future, and I suppose the merit requirement for that rank will be very high, like 2500 merits at least.
I honestly doubt the fact that an extra rank could be added to the forum..
Legendary rank to me should be the final rank attainable, and it doesn't come at an easy task,so we do not have the usual high numbers getting up to that rank, considering how many merits one has to earn.
I doubt theymos is actually thinking about this, there could be other tweaks, maybe a badge, wreath, crown etc on people's profiles when they reach such amount(2500 merits), but I think they'll still be legendaries(i can't think of any more suitable name than this)
