321  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitMixList.org - Bitcoin Mixer List on: January 02, 2024, 03:58:20 AM
This site is very well made. I can tell there was a lot of effort put into providing the best information possible. There is, however, some inaccurate information I found while skimming through the coinjoin section.

Quote
Whirlpool is designed to be decentralized, meaning there is no central coordinator overseeing the mixing process.

Whirlpool coinjoins are centrally coordinated, just like Wasabi's. An article published on Foundation Devices' website contains a great summary on how Whirlpool works:

The most common type of Coinjoin is known as an ‘Centrally Coordinated’ one, where there are often many participants in each transaction. An example of this is the Samourai Wallet Whirlpool implementation. In this type of setup, multiple users connect to a central coordinator which acts as a the central authority between all participants....
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Attack on Bitcoin’ Claims Circulate as Transaction Fees Climb Higher on: January 01, 2024, 03:30:05 AM
It's all because of SegWit + Taproot. Without those upgrades, Bitcoin would've stayed a pure money system by now. Forks like BCH and BSV didn't need Taproot because they took a different approach for scaling (increasing the block size). They are safe from Ordinals. Now BTC developers would need to find a way to lower the fees without censoring Ordinals inscriptions. I know miners won't like this, but it's the majority that counts (users, node operators, businesses, etc). If a super majority approves a reduction on network fees, miners would have no choice but to "go with the flow".

I hope this issue gets solved ASAP, for Bitcoin to reach the masses. Especially people in developing countries. At its current state, Bitcoin can only be used by whales and the elite. This creates an unequal system where the rich get richer and the poor, poorer. The future is widely unpredictable, so we can only hope for the best. Grin

Bcash SV is literally just terabytes of spam transactions. The BCH and BCH SV approach to scaling just made them more centralized. Prioritizing cheap fees only makes it easier for people to abuse the network and gives more power to centralized authorities.

This obsession with mass adoption is a fool's errand. Bitcoin can never be optimized to fulfill the needs of every single person on Earth. Any attempt to do so will likely result in serious compromises that would make it hard to distinguish from fiat currency.
323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ViaBTC offers no more free TX acceleration? on: January 01, 2024, 02:14:51 AM
This is something new I hadn't seen before. At the beginning of the hour I tried to submit a transaction but when I clicked the confirmation button there was a bit of a delay followed by an error message of "timeout of 10000ms exceeded".

Perhaps due to so many requests happening at the same time it triggers a rate limit that causes submissions to fail. Refreshing the site a few minutes later showed that a few slots were still available. It might be just a matter of time before the bots adapt to this but in the meantime there are brief periods where it is possible for actual humans to use the service.

On the other hand, those who bought FUN in the early days are not at loss entirely. I mean we have been blessing with WOF rewards and 25% APY too. That has atleast blessed us to reach near BEP or above it. But yeah it needs lot of hiking to reach to next level.

In the long end you will always end up in profit, just thanks to the WOF spins. My average buying price is around 60 satoshis, bought some when they launched it at 100 satoshis, so we need a massive rise before I will end up in profit just based on the FUN price. But with the WOF spins and the increased interest, I think my investment is already paid back.

If I hadn't FOMO'd in the beginning when the price was so high I could have already had a nice profit by now. The daily interest, wheel of fortune, and FUN savings can greatly mitigate your risk if you DCA and accumulate at a gradual pace. Somebody with a large balance earning lots of interest could invest at practically no cost with the only downside being that it might just be more profitable to stay with BTC and not convert to FUN. There is also custodial risk, but that's a tradeoff many people have already accepted when they decide they want to play on the site.

All the boxers that Inoue had defeated is not on Casimero's level because the opponents of Casimero that he beat are very quality fighters.

I'm not sure if even Casimero believes this. Fulton held two world titles when Inoue beat him as did Marlon Tapales. I don't see how Casimero can be above them when he holds zero world championships and didn't look great in his previous fight against an unranked opponent. At this stage in his career the only motivation for still chasing an Inoue fight is the possibility of a seven figure payday. If we're being realistic, his chances of beating Inoue are really slim.

Since we are almost at the end of the year, who do you think should be the Boxer of the year?

Here are the list of candidates:

1. Terrence Crawford - beat Spence, another pound for pound boxer, and then captured and unified all the belts at 147 lbs?

2. Devin Haney - undisputed at 130 lbs beat Loma, move up in weight and then dominated Prograis to win the WBC belt?

3. Naoya Inoue - move up in weight, challenge the best champion at 122 lbs in Stephen Fulton, then unified the belt against Marlon Tapales, second man to do so, unifying belts in 4 belt era in 2 different weight classes, second only to Crawford.

Devin Haney is a distant 3rd for me. His win against Loma wasn't convincing. It's a tossup between Inoue and Crawford. Inoue was more active and won all 4 belts in a year. Although I consider Spence a manufactured champion who was protected from Crawford for many years, due to PBC's influence with the sanctioning bodies, he was still highly regarded. Crawford beating him so brutally gives him a slight edge over Inoue in my opinion.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I dodge KYC using the his medium. on: December 30, 2023, 11:10:33 PM
If you get on an airplane with a suitcase full of $9000 dollars in cash, you are still technically in compliance with anti-money laundering regulation but it might raise some red flags and you might be questioned by airport authorities. It would be similar with casinos. You might not be doing anything illegal so they will let you withdraw a small amount today without KYC but eventually your account could get flagged if your withdrawals become too frequent or if you exceed a threshold within a certain timeframe.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees have disappointed me today on: December 30, 2023, 10:34:56 PM
Ok, let's forget Binance withdrawal fees. If I want to make transactions from the ledger, then the transaction has to arrive in 15 minutes. I am pretty sure if I want to ensure the time frame, then I have to spend similar fees, even from Ledger. So it's become hard to pay $17 transaction fees to make a $50 deposit.

The transaction just has to be broadcasted and detected by their system within 15 minutes. It is not necessary to be confirmed in that time because sometimes there is more than 15 minutes in between blocks.

Do they still accept Bitcoin via Lightning Network as payment?
Probably they removed this method because I did not see Lightning Network on their website.

I was curious about this as well so I did a test by topping up $1 to my account and BTCPay only had onchain BTC as an option but BitPay does create a lightning invoice if you select a lightning wallet, like Blixt, from their options. I was afraid BitPay would ask for KYC but all they asked for was an email — you can use a burner email if you want — and my transaction was completed within seconds.

There is also speculation that Binance will delist privacy coins. They previously reached out to developers to try and get them to implement some sort of transparent address but that’s obviously not going to happen with Monero.

It also seems like even no-KYC instant exchangers are distancing themselves from privacy coins. Monero is no longer available on Sideshift and on FixedFloat when you try to swap for XMR it says “Network temporarily suspended for maintenance”. Maybe FixedFloat will enable Monero again but it seems strange that one of their most popular coins is under maintenance for such a long duration.
331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Pacquiao vs. Buakaw - April 20 on: December 30, 2023, 08:51:17 AM
I saw this news a few days ago and wasn’t sure if it was credible. There have been so many rumored Pacquiao fights that never really materialized like the ones against McGregor and Ryan Garcia.

If it is legitimate then it should be an interesting bout. Buakaw is not some random youtuber or some undersized guy going up in weight. He is a recently active fighter with some experience in bare knuckle boxing. Although Pacquiao should be the favorite, I believe Buakaw could still be somewhat competitive against him.

With exhibition matches we don’t really know if it is a scripted result or not so there might not be many casinos taking bets on this fight.
332  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Freebitco.in Reviews || Scam? || Multiple Ways To Earn Free BTC || (Updated) on: December 29, 2023, 11:40:45 PM
Be careful, I was there since 2016 and I had more than 100 referrals and they scammed me anyway. I invested $700 dollars in fun tokens and on my next withdrawal; The bitcoin never reached my wallet and my account credentials were deleted. In the end they scammed me. It is a totally fraudulent website, it lets you withdraw some crumbs at the beginning; so that you trust them and invest, and then they rob you. IT'S TOTALLY A COLDLY CALCULATED SCAM  Undecided Undecided Undecided

According to your own post history you admitted to abusing the site by bypassing the captcha and automating your free rolls.

You are to blame for your own misfortune. I have a similar amount invested in their token and have made multiple successful withdrawals since then. I have yet to see a credible accusation of them scamming. It is almost always cheaters who got caught and didn't want to accept the consequences who make these claims of being scammed.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bounty really pay? on: December 29, 2023, 06:20:50 AM
A couple of years ago it was a great time to do bounties, the pay was higher and there were more good campaigns arounds. Nowadays, you don't find a lot of good bounties anymore and if he get lucky to be paid, most of the time the coins you receive are useless as they will never be traded on (big) exchanges. I don't think it is worth spending time in doing bounties anymore.

Back in 2017 even Jr Members and Members could earn a good amount from bounties. I participated in a few gambling related bounties myself. After the ICO hype died down there wasn’t as many good bounties available. There is also better methods of distribution for new projects nowadays. Instead of giving away tokens to spammy, low rank forum users and their 10 alt accounts they can partner with DEXs to offer high APYs for providing liquidity and staking on their platform.

335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins on: December 28, 2023, 10:54:39 PM
The cryptocurrency landscape is gradually taking a new turn and am loving it already. It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.

When people talk about BTC dominance they are usually referring to it's market cap relative to altcoins and in that regard Bitcoin is doing fine. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that it was winding down when it has in fact been increasing for the past year.

Altcoins have also performed well but that is a side effect of Bitcoin's rally. Bitcoin's momentum has been positive for altcoins. Altcoins won't disappear anytime soon because their adoption is also increasing but they won't be displacing Bitcoin either.

336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ViaBTC offers no more free TX acceleration? on: December 28, 2023, 09:23:18 PM
I was also under the impression that they were only allowing paid accelerations but over the holiday break, when there was less activity on the network, I was able to get 2 transactions accelerated.

It seems that they stop accepting new transactions once they reach a certain size of transactions waiting to be mined freely.
Of course, nothing has been mentioned on their website and I don't know the exact amount. I just know that it should happen very rarely. ViaBTC has around 10% of the total hash rate and it's estimated that they mine 1 block in every ~ 100 minutes on average.

This is quite interesting. I have noticed a few times that there are slots available at completely random times when you would expect them to already be taken. I guess they sometimes pause it for a while once they've reached a certain quota and restart it when they find a new block.
337  Economy / Services / Re: FREE/PAY BITCOIN TRANSACTION ACCELERATOR on: December 28, 2023, 06:07:41 AM
Can anyone help with this one? It's been pending for a loooong time like close to a couple months ....

9ed7d1eb257082c6b0ca0579f2daee5751d2d9857cbe9303346436333ab00ff2

At 6 sats/vByte this transaction isn't even eligible for acceleration from the ViaBTC website, unless you are willing to pay money. RBF isn't enabled either. Your best options are to use CPFP, assuming you control the keys to the receiving address or the change address, or you could double spend the input with a higher fee and broadcast it to a node which supports the full-RBF policy. Even without this policy many nodes will still relay a replacement transaction because of how low the original fee is and how long it's been pending means that most nodes already removed it from their mempool.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 28, 2023, 05:34:57 AM
I also want to see Dmitry Bivol VS Artur Beterbiev but it needs a lot of talks and there are promotional companies that are  involved so it will be a hard thing to happen, all we can do is hope, but the Dmitry Bivol fight here against Lyndon Arthur is a great event even though it was a decision win for him Dmitry Bivol have shown that he is still ready for any fight given to him,

Also love to see Bivol and Beterbiev unifying the four belts at the 175-pound division but it seems their promotional companies are the ones keeping them to not fight each other.

I have read news/rumors that Canelo is eyeing a rematch with Bivol at 168 lbs to be held on May but with that potent rehydration clause which for me Bivol's team will reject as he will be vulnerable if he can't bulk-up.

Yup! They have some issues with their promotional companies so this fight is really hard to make if there is no big money involved but if the Saudi Arabian wants a Bivol VS Beterbiev fight to happen I think they can get through with money,

Boxing politics often deprives us of seeing great matchups but if these Saudi events have shown us anything it's that promoters are capable of putting their differences aside. Bivol and Beterbiev are not very popular fighters. Maybe it's because of their nationality or because of their personality but they just don't sell. This has made it hard for them to reach an agreement because promoters don't want to lose money. It might come down to whether the Saudis or another rich Middle Eastern country is willing to bankroll this fight. I think this would be the prefect co-main event for something like Joshua vs Ngannou in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 28, 2023, 05:17:34 AM
$2000 is almost 50 mBTC. That is still a considerable amount of Bitcoin that you can afford. There are many people who started in Bitcoin only doing $10 weekly buys and after many years it has come to be worth a significant amount. It is not about how much money you have today. You have to think ahead for the long term. DCA'ing is a popular strategy that doesn't require a large amount of money. You could even find ways of earning Bitcoin in your spare time to supplement your investment.
