Bump!
2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: My idea for a bitcoin job forum on: March 18, 2019, 02:39:03 PM
I have gotten some free web hosting space and a domain name. I wanted to create a forum - like the services section - in where members can find jobs paid in any kind of cryptocurrency. I want to do this because of the state of the services section - it is too cluttered and unorganized. I don't think I will have signature campaigns on the site since that is what Bitcointalk is for - posting in topics relating to btcoin you have a genuine interest in. I know there's XBTFreelancer and other sites like that but I like the forum format better. I will mod it to include a reputation system like this forum have  I haven't given such a modification much thought but I want to be able to flag scammers, lazy employees, and people who are unqualified to do the job.

My questions are: would you use it and does it serve a good purpose?

I think it does serve a good purpose, it's similar to what we're doing at Opsonion.
Other platforms lack good UI / UX but as some others have suggested, building traction is going to be the hardest thing.

It's simple if you are a freelance website centered in Bitcoin/Crypto only payments you would only have freelancers who are interested to get paid in crypto posting for job offers in your website, you won't be having problems on people joining who are wanting to get paid via Paypal or Bank transfers. Your only problem is there is already a lot of freelance websites existing that are accepting crypto payments such as coinality and xbtfreelancer which are already popular in the freelance community, you would have a hard time getting people interested joining in your website especially if you are using Facebook/Google account log-ins in order to sign up in your website. It's sort of a privacy issue for them as they don't want their social media accounts tied to some website especially if they are new and not yet reputable.

Thanks for the response Theb!
I guess the concept is to combine the utility of Crypto with the globalised nature of fiat. We also use fiat in the background to make cross border transactions seamless and to decentralise the dispute process. Things that aren't usually done at the moment in the mainstream.

Xbtfreelancer seems to have a large community but they seem to only have 5 jobs active at the moment. They also have the concept of bidding which I'm not fond of because it quickly reduces prices which often come with reductions in quality. Coinality has posted like 2 jobs in 2 years too + it points you to a variety of websites as opposed to functioning as the facilitating platform (unless I've misunderstood).

The issue of privacy is a very interesting one, but people don't have to log in via their socials, they can login via a normal email login. The Google & FB makes it fast and smooth but I get you Smiley
I'll tell you this that if you try to tie up social/email accounts with registration this already gives out negative impressions on first glance. Why not consider on adding up a simple registration
without the need of Google and FB?It wont really hurt you out.

When it comes to the concept of bidding it does really affect the quality but we cant really deny the fact that this had been existed since these freelancing sites were created not only on cryptobased but also
on traditional ones.

Hi Stomachgrowls,

Sorry if it's not clear but there is a simple sign up without Google & FB - maybe we just need to make it clearer.

And yeah, I appreciate the point on bidding, I don't like it on other platforms either - a lot of freelancers I know have left them for that very reason.
Trying to change the way freelancing platforms operate as a whole.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins? on: March 15, 2019, 04:38:28 PM
This might seem like a stupid question But.

I've been wondering whats the benefits of a Stable-coin?

I haven't seen any places where you can pay with lets say Tether - so what makes people "invest" in this coin?

From my point of view the only rational reason to invest in Tether - is to trade for other Cryptocurencies. But then again i might've missed something  Grin

Enlighten me

Stablecoins can be useful when it comes to huge cross-border transactions. Most financial transactions are small and therefore cost nothing but large movements in money are inefficient and cost alot. This is one potential usage of stablecoins.

But in the world of crypto generally, they are useful for limiting your exposure to volatility at points and to maintain a level of value based on a chosen fiat currency.

Hope this helps Smiley

Newbies aren't allowed to post pictures, regardless if the pictures has a link or not. You need to be a Jr member to do that, or pay for a Copper member rank[1].

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investors in 2019? on: February 07, 2019, 03:16:21 PM
Happy activities for all of you, I want to ask questions and also discuss about investors this year.
1. What is the main reason for investors to leave the cryptocurrency business to date?
2. Will there be a repeat of the trust, making investors interested again?
Let's discuss it. Thank you for your attention and time.

The market crash has made investors leave however this is not a bad thing persay. Many invested without a clue what they were investing in, hence the funding of terrible projects and scams which were actually detrimental to the who cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The question of future trust, however, is a much more difficult question to answer. Markets are generally cyclical and what I suspect is that we will see a future bounce back. How big the bounce, I dunno, but that depends on how much progress the already-funded projects make and also, what's on the horizon in the background.  Cool Cool Cool
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lowering transaction fees will promote the use of bitcoin and adaptability? on: January 30, 2019, 10:08:13 PM
I know that the topic I made is very common and I just want to revive it here with new discussions since time flies so fast and we should adapt the new trend especially with the crypto market. Now, it seems that investors had gone for a while for not playing trading with bitcoin and it made at some point where bitcoin stabilizes in terms of its market price. We know that many are expecting it that somehow bitcoin market may gone good. Yet, only few are using bitcoin and promoting its purpose to eradicate high transaction fee through Peer to peer transactions. Probably only few are using bitcoin for this purpose because instead it can lower transaction fees done by the banks it made even more gone expensive because after bitcoin exchange it will undergo fiat exchange to which it will cost another transaction fee. Is there anything that this will be minimized and promote the use of bitcoin? Lowering transaction fee may do I suggest.

Lower transaction fees are to be closely coupled with the idea of a scalable solution. The faster the transactions, the more scalable > more blocks > less fees required to keep people incentivised.
