21581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fliers? on: June 26, 2011, 05:44:29 AM
I almost didn't read this tread because it didn't have MtGox in its title.

Design it and I'll post it in several locations here in the community I live in. Even take a pic or two to share with you folks.

I wonder when the first billboard will have a bitcoin ad.

Here's a market who's demographics would use bitcoins: NASCAR. Image bitcoin sponsoring a car with a...wait for it...woman driver.

My brother told me today that he designed and built the machine to package nickels to go inside PayDay candy bars as a promotion. That got me a thinkin': How about a chance to win a free bitcoin inside a package (or written on the inside wrapper) of Bit-O-Honey? Of course many would read, "Sorry! Please try again. Visit Bitcoin.org for the promotional details." (or something like that)

Sorry for going on a tangent. Just food for thought.

I look forward to seeing the flyer so that I can download it and starta plastering.
21582  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make it 100 posts to get out of here. on: June 25, 2011, 04:19:34 PM
Its been hard enough to get the amount of posts I have now with out just making spam posts that don't contribute anything.
Eventually ill get board and leave this forum and im sure a lot of other valid members will do so as well.

Maybe a better way to get rid of unwated users would be a knowledge test or proof in some other way.

Like a litmus test?

Unrealted, but read my last post, then check this out (not spamming or trolling): http://www.lexifab.com/2010/07/stylometry/
21583  Other / Beginners & Help / Satoshi Nakamoto is... on: June 25, 2011, 04:15:30 PM
How did you first hear about bitcoin, and then how did you hear about the Bitcoin forum (BitcoinTalk)?

It was June 13, 2011, a Monday morning, when I first learnt of Bitcoin and BitcoinTalk (BCT) at the same time. I was on my laptop while taking a long shit  Shocked, exploring the feasibility of amassing copper US cents (pre 1983) as an investment opportunity. Due to certain keywords I was using on Google, the search results kept suggesting Bitcoin, of which I dismissed at first. Finally, curiosity got the best of me and found myself reading some post of some thread on BCT. Eight hours later I was still reading treads on Bitcoin's only forum at the time. The next day I immediately went back to BCT and read threads for at least another eight hours. Same true for the following day. On the morning of June 16, 2011, I signed up on the forum under the moniker Phinnaeus Gage so to interact with what I believed at the time to be a well-educated group of posters.

Would you mind talking a little bit about how/why you got "doxxed"? Everybody (most people) on the forum knows who you are now, but it wasn't always that way... What happened?

Don't mind at all. It was during a late spring morning a few years ago when I was taking a long shit ...  Roll Eyes Seriously, one word - Inaba (aka Josh Zerlan of the now defunct Butterfly Labs). For some reason I gave Josh my vitals via PM on BCT, whereupon weeks later when I inevitably pissed him off one too many times, he opted to publicly release my vitals on BCT as payback.

How did you become an acquaintance of Charles Hoskinson / Charlie Shrem / Roger Ver? (you can mention just one, two or all three if you want)?

It was during a July morning when I was taking a long ...  Tongue

I first met all three on BCT, each of them all contributing to Bitcoin 100, crypto's first crypto-accepting charity which I founded. Charles Hoskinson was the very first Bitcoiner I met in person at a conference hosted by BitPay in Atlanta, in front of BitPay's office upon exiting the elevator. Quick aside, I'll be speaking at Charles' IOHK Summit in April and will be manning a booth representing YuTü.Co.in, also founded by me. I first met Charlie Shrem at the same conference in Atlanta. I've never met Roger in person cuz of all the conferences I've attended where he was scheduled to speak, he pulled a George Jones and didn't show. #Sad!

What/when was your greatest feeling of victory, like a moment you knew when you really nailed somebody or took down a scam project?

There are so many, I truly can't name one, looking at all of them as victories, though Black Arrow, BFL and EthTrade definitely come to mind. I do get a kick on how Leroy Fodor, Marshall Long and Nick Spanos ALL claim to have been mining and trading bitcoins in 2009 when BCT was the ONLY source of info in the space back them, it having ONLY 17 registered users (none them) and the first exchange had yet to be created, let alone envisioned [mostly via the Bitcoin White Paper]. I'll add that Nick is on record in not knowing who Satoshi is directly after claiming he knew everybody in the space, Leroy can't rite good english in spite of earning a college deegre, and Marshall stinks like a pig perhaps cuz he has ablutophobia.

I noticed you're on the Default Trust list but don't issue feedback. Why don't you use the Trust system? Do you have any personal thoughts on it?

Oddly, just opted from the get-go to not participate on the let's-shit-on-people thingy (guess that answers the second question as well, eh?).

You've been one to speak your mind, coming across often as quite anti-authoritarian. Do you have anything to stay about the current state of forum "politics"?

Actually, I haven't gotten caught up in the politics of BCT, albeit I may have been a victim of such given the comments left on my Trust thingy. As for BCT proper, I'd say that within five more years, theymos will have the new improved $1.5M forum up and running.

Do you have any tips for people who want to become a scambuster? Like, any certain "do's" or "do not's" that you're willing to share?

What's it like being the most prolific poster on the forum? I mean, between Phinnaeus Gage and Gleb Gamow you're about 12,000 posts ahead of the next closest member, philipma1957.

I currently live in Mindanao. Want me to go check out a certain ex-solar powered mining operation?

Yeah, go and unplug Leroy Fodor's solar array powering the Philippines largest bitcoin mining farm located in his sorry-ass 20' X 20' Sari Sari-cum-disco-cum-grocery-cum-internet cafe-cum-living quarters in the basement-cum-piggery ...

Below is the original post of the thread, not part of the above ....

I guess this is the best tread to post about who is Satoshi Nakamoto since I'm still a newbie and yet to be whitelisted.

I believe it would be relatively simple for any one here to figure out who Satoshi Nakamoto if they took a little time to do this: http://www.lexifab.com/2010/07/stylometry/

Excerpt from site above: Stylometry is a set of techniques used to identify the author of a work. It can be applied to fine arts and music, but in linguistics, stylometry is utilized to identify anonymous authors and determine forgeries.

I think there's enough written by Satoshi Nakamoto to compare his/hers writing style to the writing style of any other person's style you care to compare.

Maybe someone would like to start a tread on Stylometry to get the ball rolling. I believe that within 24 hours we'll have a match with over 95% certainty.
21584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your opinion about piramids like Double Trouble on: June 22, 2011, 07:45:03 PM
I heard through the bitvine (made that up) that Donald Trump is endorsing a new MLM where the downline is paid with...wait for it...bitcoins. Notice that Double Trouble and Donald Trump have the same initials.

Here's my "for real" take on this. I think we should concentrate our creativeness on other worthwhile endeavors that don't include sex, gambling (risk taking), drugs, etc.--just plain ole commerce. After the proverbial ball gets rollin', the before mentions are welcome to join the crowd along with religious and political concerns.

I'm not tryin' to police anything, it's just that I have a lot at stake. The 1.16 BTC I have in my hand tooled leather wallet is drivin' me crazy because I'm not sure how much of it to spend and how much of it to save as an investment.
21585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to attract late adopter ? on: June 22, 2011, 02:11:27 PM
If you've heard of Gold Partys (gold parties), maybe that idea could be taken to the next level: Bitcoins for Gold Party. My only suggestion would be is to offer the maximum possible for the gold (silver, copper, etc. works also) in exchange for the maximum possible bitcoins (current market price during party), and still recognize a fair profit. I would go as far as to show the exact profit made for full disclosure purposes. At that same time, everyone is introduced to bitcoins and their wallets are sent up. Now show them the sites where to spend their bitcoins (linked from your site with affiliate programs attached possibly). Of course they'll still have the option of only exchanging it for USD, at which point you offer them less but still more than they can get anywhere else.

21586  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: June 22, 2011, 12:48:03 AM
Thank you for the opportunity to get whitelisted quickly. I'll opt the old fashion way--putting in my hours reading and posting(s).

I do want to share an idea, though. If any trusted member would like to accept donations for a cause, I have one that would only require collecting $75. It is this one: http://www.sturgismotorcyclerally.com/info-guide/brick-project.php

Full disclosure: I'm not affiliate with that site, but am plugging my Brother-in-Law (name withheld). I'll tell you why I was there in a sec. The site has a rotating banner ad and this one caught my eye so I waited till it came back around (just thought about Alice's Restaurant for a second there) and clicked it. After reading the article, I said to myself, "Self. That would make a nice post on the Bitcoin Forum." Hence this posting.

<Shameless Commerce> (apologies to Car Talk's Click and Clack) Alert: The reason for being at the site is I wanted to see what date it started this year. Also, to get design ideas for my B-I-L to help design the Google Doodle to represent the 71st anniversary of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. My B-I-L is an artist and, moreover, hand tools leather seats the old school way. He tooled three seats for Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, two of which are in his museum(s). Also, he's been featured in over a dozen magazines. </Shameless Commerce>

So, I'm hoping there's a bitcoin user here on this forum who rides and would love to see a brick with Bitcoin.org placed on Main Street in Sturgis, SD, step up to the plate and make this happen. I, for one, would donate .25 BTC. At that rate, you'll/we'll only need 348 more donations (provide you donate same) to reach the goal.

Maybe the above idea is just a brain fart, but at least I eat healthy.
21587  Other / Beginners & Help / An Introduction on: June 16, 2011, 04:29:23 PM
Hello, everyone. My name is Phinnaeus Gage and I live in Japan. Only kidding! I live in the US and my moniker is a pseudonym. Reason being: I want to remain...wait for it...anonymous. Yes, I enjoy injecting humor in my posts.

For the past 3 days, I've spent hours reading the messages on this forum. Yesterday, I spent eight hours reading everything @Allinvain wrote. I'm not a reporter of any kind, but wanted to see if I could help solve the missing bitcoins mystery. More on that in later posts after I past the newbie status.

I'm not a troll in any sense of the word.

My main objective is to start another "bitcoin only" commerce site, hence the joining of this forum. I won't be seeking suggestions, or the like, and will only share the site once it's up and running.

What I've enjoy about reading this forum is how the members, for the most part, have a high command of the English language. Thank you for that. I hope my contributations pass muster.

In closing, soon they'll may be an Onion headline that'll read: Chinese Prisoners Forced to Mine Bitcoins.

EDIT: With the exception of adding a missed period at the end of the last sentence, the above post has never been edited. What appears below this paragraph is a secret project I'm working on, started on 2-11-2013. If found, please don't tell anybody. I doubt if it will be found, for I've covered my tracks pretty damn good.
