Greetings All,

On Nov. 1 I plan on disabling my services (jswallet, block explorers) that require an active node. Please make arrangements. All of my services give you access to your private key that you can import into your own nodes. However, the Copay Beta may be tricky if you don't have a programming background.

Kind Regards,

I am wondering what will be the impact on RIC project, dev and network.

May we have an update on the current situation of the project and what is the future?

RIC still active on Poloniex.... hope it will stick there

Probably not much impact, I don't think my services were widely used for RIC.

Greetings All,

On Oct. 1 I plan on disabling my services (electrum servers, jswallet, block explorers) that require an active node. Please make arrangements. All of my services give you access to your private key that you can import into your own nodes. However, the Copay Beta may be tricky if you don't have a programming background.

Kind Regards,

I have received some questions via pm that are probably more appropriate for a larger audience.

The occasional loss of hash / pause in block generation is not healthy, nor is acceptable for a cryptocurrency. I'm sure you are all aware of the drama in the BTC work regarding mining centralization and it's risks. One miner with >51% hash share is by definition an attack on the network. And miners that play shell games in regard to multiple pools in name only are not fooling those who understand cryptocurrency.

For that reason I would like to focus my time on a different project, as my bandwidth is always limited.

However, since we have many more folks using my services than I was aware and to give them more time, I will continue to keep them open until Nov. 1 (will reassess then).

Frankly, I was a little surprised on the amount of feedback... this sub has been very quiet lately.

I have a myriad js wallet with some coin in it. But the problem is I can't send those coins.

If you have many utxos associated with a private key the bitcoinjs-lib may have some issues attempting to sign them all. Additionally, if you have been mining to this address you would need at least 100 confirmations on the last utxo before you can move the funds. This has caused some issues for others in the past. The best option is to use the full Myriadcoin application and import the private key there.

To determine if this is indeed the case you would need to provide the public address (starts with a "M"). DO NOT provide any other information like the URL or brainwallet as this would expose the private key.

Good news: Poloniex reenabled Riecoin wallets.
Thank you!

Good news! Services restored.

Greetings All,

Sadly I have disabled my Riecoin node and active services for now. Perhaps some day I will turn it on again and resume all services. I've retained services that do not need an active node to participate.

Riecoin is a neat idea and project, I hope it can find a valid exchange someday.

I noticed a new ticker on bittrex. Does that mean my old paper wallets are now worthless?

No, the change of tickername was decided already long time ago and done by some exchanges right as it was new. Bittrex only decided now to update their ticker to show the correct name.

So you should be fine:)

To be more specific, the private key of a paper wallet would not include the ticker symbol. It might be there for decorative purposes only, but distinct from the address or private key.

Bryce Weiner in telegram today,

Doesn't look like anything bad happened. We are getting swept up in profit switching mining pools.

Blockchains automatically reorg forks after a short period of time. It's already resolved. We are just checking out if there's anything malicious.

It was accidental, I'm sure. We are talking 30PHs that showed up out of nowhere. It cranked out blocks quickly until KGW could compensate. That's what caused the fork: more blocks produced than propagated.

I'm sitting here looking through the chain and it doesn't look hostile at all.

my 0.02 - that being said, multialgo pow is worthy of discussion.

50 USD incoming - again!! $50.47@coinimi

Well, I'm glad I can take his word for it, that's a burden lifted...  Roll Eyes

Closing my games are done as a result of an abundance of caution. Regardless, over 51% is still unacceptable.

To CrystalSufir's question, how many algos is a balancing act. Too many is difficult to maintain, not enough leaves too many miners in control... I would look to the successful multialgo coins out there for guidance. And no hardfork should be taken lightly, consensus is required.

Is it anything to be worried about, the deep re-orgs? Anything we could even do something about even if it was a cause for concern, or just something ya gotta roll with?

It's a problem. My games are calculated after one confirmation but some of the reorgs have been a few hundred blocks. I could get scammed by a miner so I have to wait until either the block relaying improves or a malicious miner is done playing around.... But right now the UNO network has one miner with over 51% so I would say it doesn't look healthy to me.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!extraction

Perhaps UNO should explore multialgo to keep the miners honest.

edit: I should also add that any exchange could be scammed the same way, they will probably take some action.

Due to the UNO network experiencing deep re-orgs or possible attempts at double-spend by miners, I am disabling the dice games until further notice.

Same thing here, there's no problem in our software that I'm aware of and I'm willing to help. They responded to my ticket apologizing for the delay and said they would escalate it to give it more priority.

...

FYI, and not to inject talk about other projects here, Polo told the Myriad community the same exact thing before delisting them... I would suggest finding some additional exchanges to be on the safe side.

Good day to all,

Hopefully I'm allowed to post my question here. If not, sorry in advance.

I posted my problem with sweeping my Unobtanium paper wallet to Electrum_uno on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/Unobtanium/comments/6gqp30/unconfirmed_transaction/) and I was tipped this forum was very active.

Could someone please help me? I also tried on Electrum_uno WIN32s but that version doesn't even broadcasts the transaction.

Any assistance will be appreciated very much!

Thanks in advance,

Lxother

Unsure why you would be having this issue, I don't have a win32 (or any win) host to test with. I would suggest installing the QT client and using "importprivkey" in the debug window if electrum is causing grief.

Can anyone tell me what's going on with Block #954435.  Huh

I'm freakin' out a bit what happened to about 500 Uno!

I was speaking with you via PM, check your "My Messages".

edit: or we can discuss here, it's your privacy Smiley

You shouldn't feel silly, cryptocoins are not user friendly.  Grin

Big thanks to Learminer for his help here and in Telegram! For anyone else in future, he put me onto this git repository: https://github.com/bitcoinjs/bs58check (and suggested I download the github repo, make a new file (e.g. app.js) and then simply include the demo code from the github page).

...it appears my private key is stored in unencrypted Base58 format (58 character private key, starts with '6') and I need to convert it to Bitcoin-qt format.

Hi,

Please try to import the private key in Electrum_uno. It seems to usually do a good job picking the correct format... Also, what is the first character of the string of the private key? Don't post more than the first character obviously.

And my sincere thanks for checking in with this gem, cryptapus, I really appreciate it! I'd forgotten about Electrum_uno. It's been awhile since I've been in a crypto mindset. I'll absolutely give this a go if Learminer's method falls through (I've already made headway on that one, though won't get to finishing the process until I'm back at a computer later today. Big work weekend here! Thanks again Smiley

EDIT: cryptapus, THANK YOU!! I just did it by Sweeping the wallet and pasting its public key in the Address box and putting the private key in hexadecimal format in the Private Key box (after simply pasting it in base58 format didn't work) and FINALLY, I'm staring at the balance in the wallet! YES!! Cheesy Thanks again guys.

EDIT 2: cryptapus, I can see the two transactions but the wallet is in 'watching mode':

...

How would I get this to an active mode so I can send the UNO to another address? I tried finding my way with the console but I'm struggling a bit, here. Thanks for any advice you can offer here. -C.

Ah, I think you probably imported your public key.... Try to create a new wallet and import the string of digits that begins with "6", I think that's your private key in base64 format. If that fails, go to the paperwallet generator and click on the "Wallet Details" tab. Then enter the "6" string in the box and "View Details". You can there get the private key in base58 WIF format (either compressed or not will work) that can be imported in either Qt or electrum.

Edit: you can tell if it's base64 format if it has any of these characters: "/+=O0I" Base58 is missing them and is used for WIF since these can be mistaken when writing them by hand.

Hi all, it's been a while but I'm still around. Today I come to you in need of a little help! I have 149kg in a Cryptapus paper wallet from Dec 2014 that I'd like to import. I'm having a problem importing the private key to my updated and current UNO Bluechist wallet, which itself holds more UNO correctly and without error.

Someone else had this problem in 2015:

When trying to import a private key in Bitcoin core v0.10.0rc1 I'm getting:

Invalid private key encoding (code -5)

Address was generated at Blockchain.info.

I'm trying to import the address with:

Code:
importprivkey yourPrivateKeyInWalletImportFormat "TheLabelThatIWant"

As described here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys_v7%2B

Blazr came to the rescue...

I have two keys to import, one starts with 'D' the other with 'C', same error with both.

Your private keys aren't in Wallet Import Format, they are base58 which doesn't work with Bitcoin Core.

On blockchain.info, go to import/export > export unencrypted and on the dropdown "select private key format" select "Bitcoin-Qt Format". They should begin with 5, K or L.

I have no idea why blockchain.info uses base58 as the default format, they really should change that to WIF. Almost no clients use base58.

Like the OP there, it appears my private key is stored in unencrypted Base58 format (58 character private key, starts with '6') and I need to convert it to Bitcoin-qt format. Blazr's advice to the other poster seems to be just what I need to do - however, it appears Blockchain.info has now removed the Export tool from their wallet.

Is there anywhere else I can get my paper wallet address into the right format? Sincere thanks for anything you can suggest! -Craig

ps. cryptocointalk looks great! easy on the eyes Smiley

Can anyone tell me if there are other multi-algo coins out there?

And how did this multi-algo mining worked for Myriad? What where the problems?

There are quite a few. Myriad is not actually the first - I think Huntercoin did it first with just Sha256 and Scrypt. It was the first to implement five algorithms though, and that has been copied by many coins: Digibyte, Verge, Saffroncoin (dead?), Auroracoin, Anoncoin (?), Digitalcoin, Unitus, and probably some others I'm forgetting.

The problems are not many, at least experienced so far. There have been some issues with difficulty retargeting that allow someone with a lot of hashrate on one algo to get a bunch of blocks in a row on it, but those have been fixed I think. Currently there are issues with one algo not producing as many blocks as expected, but it's not really a problem, per se.

Thanks for the info.  I remember mining Anoncoin and Digitalcoin , but I don't remember them being a multi algo..

As I recall they switched to multi-algo from mono-algo. I think there may have even been one coin that went/started multi-algo and switched back to mono-algo but the name escapes me...

I have a question, can you import private keys from electrum wallet to qt? i see that in both (electrum/qt), the private keys start with an "A", but on the paper wallet generator from the website, the private keys start with an "8".By the way, i'm getting a red circle (no connection) on electrum  Huh

I'm not getting a connection either. I'm sure you can export the keys or regain them through a set of Electrum code words (assuming you wrote them down). I'd rather figure out how to re-establish the connection though, since I use that wallet (along with others) and we should have it working smoothly for the community. I'm guessing it's just a matter of adding some nodes; an electrum node list has probably been posted somewhere in the last 20 pages of this thread, but if we're patient a kind person will probably show up with instructions for us  Tongue

There is a difference between a regular ("8.....") or compressed ("a.....") private key WIF... But both qt and electrum should be able to work with either form.

If you don't have a connection you might try restarting electrum. The electrum servers are currently up but mine have been experiencing intermittent service provider outages...
