This looks cool, I guess. Today is the day. Has anyone tried it yet?

This particular wallet takes advantage of the availability of electrum servers. If you would like to support the electrum network and if you have a static IP and full node please consider running an electrum server and having it join irc ##electrum-uno

https://github.com/cryptapus/electrum-server-uno

Overhead is very light once the database is synced.

Yes, our base hashrate dropped by more than 60%  Undecided

We need to maintain a selection of reliable pools. Whatever reason they had for dropping us we need to make sure that it doesn't continue to be a problem in the future.

For some reason merged coins cause instability in our stratum servers. Not specific to UNO, but it is why we've removed all MM coins from scrypt and sha256 on zpool.

We're working at figuring out why so eventually we hope to add it back on www.zpool.ca

Cheers

Perfect demonstration of why I am sceptical of the benefits of merge mining.

This and the f2pool market decision lead me to the same conclusion.

You guys think Uno would be better off without merged mining?

UNO would be better off with less mining centralization for sure. It doesn't matter if it's AUX-POW or POW, if 60% of your hash is centralized on one pool you've essentially been owned with a "51% attack". Of course the pool would need to actively attempt to defraud (I can't remember seeing an example of a pool engaging in such behavior)...

It's not just UNO though, it's laughable how everyone seems to pretend that bitcoin mining is decentralized. Sure none of the pools get to 51% but the big miners just spread the hash to different pools. It's an interesting thought exercise to wonder how big the biggest bitcoin miner actually is...

But hard-forking for some willy-nilly reason seems risky too, many a coin has been killed with hard forks especially lately with low interest in most altcoins. There's something to be said about stability. Look at litecoin, it's essentially become just a bitcoin clone with no purpose but the value is still quite high. When was the last time they had a hard-fork?

By the way, there's nothing stopping anyone from mining UNO with direct POW but the rewards would have to make it worthwhile.

I'm running a node for the IRC/reddit bot. I'll see about adding an electrum server to it when I get some time, hopefully this weekend.

...

Syncing now .... INFO:electrum:block 5500 (1 0.03s) 182adf8573b58d22c827e47b4e100eb6fd13c40cdcc02fdeba2712f6b05d1862 (51.71tx/s, 0.05s/block) (eta 20.9 hours, 1572699 blocks)

Thanks! IRC appears to be under DDOS attack again for me, but my nodes will be back on IRC soon... They are already coded into the main electrum client.

f2pool sent their reply, I had tried contacting them earlier this week.

Was worth a shot.

Don't they MM HUC? That market is really tiny....

Edit: I take that back, HUC volume seems to be higher than I remember...

You could also probably message FallingKnife on reddit, slightly easier to create an anonymous throwaway account there. Providing the info anonymously would probably warrant a piece of a screenshot though. I too am interested in the distribution of those funds.

-------------------------

So at Cryptapus' ABE block explorer, I learned that our cumulative UNO days destroyed is 45.45%. I'm embarrassed to admit that after ~10 minutes of searching I'm having a hard time finding the same statistic for bitcoin, but my extremely rough estimate would put it at 55-60%. Does anyone have an opinion on what we can draw based on %CoinDD data? I would assume that if your goal is merchant adoption, high currency velocity & broad distribution then you want a high %CoinDD. If your goal is to have rock-solid holders & rarity then you want a low %. Based on that, I'd like to see our %CoinDD figure decrease over time. Any thoughts?

UNO Age - %CoinDD

859 days - 45.4%

800 days - 47.3%

600 days - 54.0%

400 days - 54.1%

200 days - 41.1%

20 days - 16.9%

I got the above figures from counting days on the windows calculator, changing block # in the Crypto.id URL until I hit the right date, then pasting the block hash number into the cryptap.us URL. (BTW: Did block time used to be 1 minute instead of 3 minutes?)

If there's an easier way to comb through data in the ABE explorer I'd love to know. It would be fun to create a %CoinDD chart & pair it with some other charts (such as value).

I think you have the idea correct. I admittedly had to look at the code to understand DD%, but I believe it is (coins*their_age)/(total_current_coins*total_current_age) * 100. But basically higher percentage movement means coins are more fluid and lower percentage movement means they are being held. I think it's actually a fairly good metric for bitcoin considering all the spam transactions.

If I recall correctly before v 0.10 by BW, we were badly needing a dev and soopy452000 was tasked with updating UNO. We forked to new code with a 1 min. blocktime for a bit. Not a proud day for UNO and BW returned us to 3 minute block times with v0.10. I don't know exactly how many coins were generated in this way but I believe emission was fairly low by this time... FN might remember more...

A testnet, towards a better mainnet ...

Herewith, 2 x UNO and Prototanium (PR) dedicated nodes.

addnode=45.32.32.237

- Tokyo, JP

addnode=45.32.244.201

- Sydney, AU

Full daemon for both wallets running at each IP. Cheers!

Since you're running full nodes, maybe consider helping with an electrum-uno-server as well Smiley

https://cryptap.us/uno/electrum

https://github.com/cryptapus/electrum-server-uno

UNO node tips : ueDjrLVrD8qRFjs4md8izWw9KUpKJogSNt - Thanks! (see the Prototanium thread for PR).

...

These two nodes are quite low RAM tbh.

I have an UNO / PR related project in the works that will require another server, so I would be able to host an electrum-uno-server on that for sure. The node will most likely be hosted in Sweden and the project will likely start within a few months, so I will get back to you then.

   Cool

FYI (for you or anyone else who is interested) here is my current load for an electrum server:

Code:
PID USER      PR  NI    VIRT    RES    SHR S  %CPU %MEM     TIME+ COMMAND
14821 electrum  20   0 1051980  20972   9236 S   0.7  0.5  14:39.17 electrum_uno
  806 electrum  20   0 2859796  37732  15164 S   0.4  0.9 263:56.06 electrum_myr

current database size for 100 tx depth (default) is 158 MB. Building the database takes a few hours... Edit the config file and your server can join IRC ##electrum-uno, the clients will pick it up from there.

(ignore electrum_myr, it's for Myriad...)

Hello,

Yesterday evening I sent some UNO to Bittrex. I used the deposit address they supplied: ug7iuGuwGVZsqDrdADSnsz3XrKKr26Ff5D

As of now, about 20 hours later, is still hasn't shown in pending deposits. Strangely, when I check that address on the blockchain explorer, it seems to be a very old, unused address, last transaction being 2014. This is the only address available for deposit into Bittrex.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or can enlighten me as to where those coins may be. Btw, I am using the latest wallet.

Thanks a bunch.
Hi Maurice. Was you blockchain sync complete when you created the transaction, does it show up in the Transactions/Ledger tab of the wallet? If so what details does it give you when you double click (transaction ID, # of confirmations etc.)
Thanks learminer,

The sync was NOT complete when I sent them. They did show in the wallet though, and I've sent coins during syncing many times, I just make sure it's synced to the point of my last transaction. When I click on the transaction details, it just shows me the deposit address and says unconfirmed.

You may want to try the following steps.

1) Make sure you're using a wallet of at least version 0.10.0 or greater

2) Go to the console and use "dumpwallet" to dump the wallet to a file

3) Close the client, and move your wallet.dat someplace safe.

4) Restart the client, go to the console and run "importwallet <filename>" where filename is the file from step 2.

5) You should be back to having no pending transactions. Now you can try again.

Why you guys Knife & siameze turn this Unobtanium forum into proto discussion? Proto have noting to do with Uno users but proto users. Made it separate forum for this one Huh

PRO
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1352148

made new one, cuz don't think there was an old one?
there's a PR otc thread but no formal BCT thread?

Good grief.  "Prototanium" is the UNO testnet (with a branded wallet), it doesn't need and shouldn't have its own thread. Nor, as I have said before, should it be monetised.

What the **** is going to be done when a serious issue needs high risk changes to be tested?

Fork testnet to "testnet4" Smiley

Hey guys.
I can't get my wallet to sync....its stuck at 20 weeks
I tried to add some of the nodes mentioned in the previous pages but still stuck.
Anyone else having this issue or know a solution?
Thanks

What client are you using? You need to be on version 0.10 or greater.

is it possible to mine remote to the wallet?
i have 2 antminer s1

Probably your best option is to join one of the sha256 merge-mining pools. Since sha256 is merge-mined, you might as well mine BTC and get MYR that way. I don't think that's enough hash to make much of a solo effort...

Does uno have the same blocksize as bitcoin?

technically yes. When you consider block speed, it's 3.33x. However if it fills I'm sure we would consider raising it (it's been forked for much more controversial reasons)... But most blocks are empty and it would have to take on 3x bitcoin's transactions to become an issue.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: January 25, 2016, 05:33:41 PM

I am still not 100% sure this is a node issue (I hope so). I know it might seem silly to some to throw good money after bad, but I am not at all okay with how this went down. Though I didn't own or benefit from Prototanium, I encouraged the dev and saw it as a kid brother to UNO. It as, afterall Uno testnet. I don't understand at all why the dev abandoned PR as he did. I haven't been able communicate with him about it. It was very out of character. I'm saddened by it.

...

So thanks for your help Cryptapus, and yes, your support is valuable, appreciated, and certainly worth a modest bounty. You are consistent, responsive, available, dependable, engaged, helpful creative... everything this community needs. You are a commodity as rare as UNO. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks for the kind words and the bounty. I am leaning to believe that this was completely a node issue. If you're running a node and you don't have more than 8 connections you are most likely behind a NAT or have the p2p ports firewalled. In other words you're not running an full (open) node and a healthy network needs them. Learn to do port forwarding or run it on a DMZ.

My personal opinion of the testnet is that it is worthless. The coins themselves are meant for testing and should be freely available. Anything else is is just a distraction and just another (in this case even pre-mined) altcoin... But that's the last I'll say about testnet coin value. Any extra that get sent to me or donated I will give away if you can provide an idea for what they will be used for to improve UNO. (as an aside, do some research as to why testnet is called "testnet3" in your config directory Smiley )

I will leave the testnet running for a while, but no promises on it's ultimate fate... That will be up to the testnet users (if there really are any).

Thanks! If anything I hope it was at least a little thrilling. I welcome anyone to try their luck Smiley

I cannot freakin' mine PR/Uno-testnet.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but Multiminer always returns an error. I have it setup exactly like 15 other coins I can successfully mine.
Were you moving it earlier, Cryptapus?

No, I don't have mining resources. But someone is mining it. The last block is only ~1hr old... All thing considered the testnet is up and moving now. Isn't that worth the 0.1 BTC bounty you were offering Smiley

edit: However, it does need more full (open) nodes. With just my two nodes I wouldn't expect it to be a robust network...
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: January 23, 2016, 10:33:14 PM

Explorer is still loading, but it should be done in less than an hour.

If you are running a node it would be helpful if you open your port and publish your IP. The network could use more static full nodes...
