Scam warning on this topic?

With all trades documented in real time? (You can read and verify yourself.)

You can see the historical here: https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio-public/?id=120643 (click "all" to see everything from where I stopped trading and "froze" the portfolio.)

Hit $1,000,000 in 2018 and $1,850,000 again last year. Right in front of your eyes!

And there's a scam warning?  Cheesy

Surely the real scams are being promoted as real!

Some people are born losers.

BTW, it's too late to try to do this again.

Can't show my real crypto portfolio, but I will say that it is performing around 40% better on a relative basis, and once again demonstrating that a diversified balanced portfolio is the only way to go. My real overall portfolio including the profits I took to fiat is doing over 300% better on a relative basis. Again, appropriately balanced and diversified is the moral of the story. The locked portfolio is shown below though. Looks like a great time to buy.

This is what a theoretical Week 29 Update would look like.

ADA grew to 54% of the total portfolio last night. Thatís a fairly good concentration, and something I personally wouldnít let go without rebalancing. As you know from reading this thread, I mentioned on the 1st of December that I had rebalanced my personal portfolio on the first ADA spike higher. Iím sure it wonít be too much of a surprise for you to learn that Iíve done the same again. And Iím still fairly overweight ADA!

To the question as to how the locked model portfolio is doing in comparison with my real portfolio, the truth is that until yesterday the balanced portfolio was still winning, both in percentage terms and absolute terms, even after having taken a little more than 10% profits cleanly off the top (a nice little fiat payday to brighten up the holiday season). However, with yesterdayís doubling in ADA, the locked portfolio took the lead in daily percentage gains. There's a lot of risk to assume in order to do that though, and with the likes of true 100x prospects like STEEM and SYS falling below 7.5% and 9%, respectively, there really are good places to put those ADA profits that will probably catapult the balanced portfolio higher sooner or later, while reducing substantial overall risk at the same time.

Check out the last post on my blog on Steemit, Buy Low, Sell High, for more about selling strength and buying weakness, best practice portfolio management, and a real nice example of a YTD laggard that could well be the next 100x.

All my best to everyone, and always remember that there will always be another correction. Smiley

^^ This!

And I will summarize: aside from having made good picks (which would have been fairly easy as some have pointed out), what made this possible more than anything else is the balanced portfolio concept. Don't forget it!

In fact, my real portfolio, complete with 2 ADA rebalancings to laggards, IS STILL ON PAR with the locked portfolio. Done just as well, and my risk is way lower as a result.

Also keep in mind that at some point, your crypto will need to be rebalanced against fiat.

A DIVERSIFIED BALANCED PORTFOLIO is your best friend and will never lie to you.

Both of those quoted posts just above placed great emphasis on best practice portfolio management and the need for periodic rebalancing when individual holdings get out of balance. The first of those two posts was the very day of the ATH in BTC, and the second the day before the ATH for the "model" portfolio - now not such a model given its extreme overweighting (still) in ADA.

For all those who took profits, that is to say, followed best practice portfolio management guidelines, we now find ourselves in a buy zone, so, everyone who has USDT, BitUSD, SBD or the like, happy fishing!  Grin

And to everyone who didn't, not to worry, there's always time to learn from our mistakes.

Un fuerte abrazo para MarŪa de GdC.

Cardano (ADA) has performed very nicely. Depending on how low your average price was (and when), itís a 4x to 8x in USD terms. A very nice gain. Whatís really important for me though is that itís pushing a 50% portfolio position, and, well, thatís just not good portfolio management. Consequently, Iíve balanced my personal portfolio by selling ADA and buying more STEEM, BTS, and SYS, in that order. The model portfolio is ďlockedĒ and will continue to be so (Iím interested in seeing if it ends up achieving better long term returns than my managed portfolio), but that doesn't apply to my personal portfolio which at least trys to emulate best practice principles.

I had no choice but to rebalance.

I also have fun selling strength and buying weakness, so it wasn't that hard.  Grin

Is there any place that he said he will leave updates on the value of his portfolio? I don't see anything on his steemit regarding it. If there's enough response to this post, provided there is no place there's updates of his portfolio, I'll take it up myself to provide the value of his portfolio every week based on his week 21 data. Let me know if you guys would like this.

I made a public portfolio on crypto compare with his last stats for holdings, you can follow here:

https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio-public/?id=120643

For initial buy price I just put $0, so the gain % might be messed up, but total portfolio value is correct.

Nice job making that public portfolio on Crypto Compare!

The good folks here at Bitcoin Forum got my account unlocked and returned in a very timely manner, but, already having made the decision to ďlockĒ the model portfolio, I decided to leave things as such.

Nevertheless, with the model portfolio exceeding $100,000.00 for the first time on yesterdayís close, I thought it a good time to pop in, say hello and celebrate a bit!

Weíve made it to one hundred grand!

A 10x since May 27th.

BTC has done a 6x, so weíve outperformed, albeit not by much, but weíre involved in projects with massively superior upside potential.

Weíll see just how well things stand up comparatively during the coming correction, which isnít a question of if, but when.

Cheers, and keep with the best of the best, no matter what the isolated hype may be!

HR, how do you feel about 0x compared to BTS?  I've been looking at these two coins and was leaning towards 0x but your enthusiasm for BTS together with its firesale has peaked my interest.  Many people in my circle pump 0x, which is the primary reason I've been looking at it, but I haven't pulled the trigger.

I just took a quick look, so this may be a bit superficial, but it looks to me like there's a world of difference between the protocols, with BTS being much more robust and advanced. BTS is independent, and 0x is an ETH token. BTS is a proven product and up and working, while 0x is still in an inception phase. It also looks like 0x is much higher priced and has less appreciation potential than BTS, which is severely undervalued. BTS devs are known professionals passionate about their work. On balance, I think BitShares wins hands down, but that's just my opinion based on a very quick perusal.

Wow. I wasn't expecting that. I thought you would still continually trade. So, you will adjust the weight if something happens?

Yes, I will adjust weightings, but at this point it would have to be a major change in weightings before doing so.

can you give a quick recap of how you can monetize Steem power ups ?.. Is it a passive income source for you ? Why would you hold on to a coin with unlimited supply and that is going to deliberately be diluted to divert interest into other features of the Steem project, like power ups, maybe we are missing something, you have obviously great familiarity with that project, can you summarize why you think it's a great investment ?.. All the Best

The business model was changed some time ago.

Another milestone for the portfolio:

Everything is completely off all exchanges; there is nothing on any exchange! Everything is in its own wallet and has zero exchange risk.

The portfolio is now set for the long term and any changes should be very few and far between and correspond to the portfolio's long term objectives . . . and maybe there will be a little trading on the BitShares decentralized exchange and the Steemit internal market too.  Grin

I'm also really looking forward to getting more involved in the specific projects I have chosen to invest in, firstly within their respective communities, and secondly as an active participant. I'm sure it must be obvious by now that I think my big four have a very impressive future ahead of them, and I definitely want to be more closely in touch with each as they move forward.

The fact that I cannot say the same about any other of the top level crypto contenders is one of the main reasons why I chose not to invest in anything like ETH or ETC, or ZEC, or even BTC and LTC (not to mention their relatively limited upside potential). If there's no way for the average person to get involved other than buying and holding, then that must mean they are fairly stagnate and anything but dynamic, and that leaves us wondering about what kind of future is really in store for them.

I will continue updating and posting, but, as you might imagine, given the longer term nature of the beast, there isn't going to be that much to talk about regarding this particular portfolio. Perhaps some of your portfolios might pick up the slack, especially if their still in their formative stages. If so, bring them on! I for one always love hearing about other people's trading and investment ideas and would gratefully welcome your contributions.

And, as always, all my best to everyone.

I converted my SBD into STEEM at an average price of .00018609 (current weightings take SBD to zero and increases STEEM by that same percentage amount).

Then I powered up the majority of that.

To answer a couple of questions:

No I am not sponsored.

ADA is an exceptional project, and no longer an ICO.

I have no BTC. The portfolio's value is derived from the USD value of each holding.

The LTC liquidation happened a few weeks ago and you can find that in this same thread.

I do not plan to buy BTC and then buy everything back.

There was no sale of STEEM to buy ADA. The percentage increase in ADA portfolio weighting was due to its increase in value while the decrease in the other big 4 was due to the decrease in their value.

New bitshares website preview. I guess temporary url?!

It looks amazing: www.is1.co

The website does look most impressive, is this where we should now be trading our Bitshares (not that I would sell any of course) now that Bittrex has delisted Bitshares.

I agree the website looks Awesome BTS IS  A1 far superior to many in Top 20

Very well done and nice chart comparison! Top 20 indeed!

Yep. That's a Roger.  Grin

Current Weightings:

ADA 29.34%
SYS 20.61%
STEEM 19.76%
BTS 19%
SBD 4.55%
NLG 3.66%
GRS 1.83%
DGB 1.25%
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: October 10, 2017, 09:50:39 PM

Quick mid-week update with the portfolio's current weightings (you'll also notice that I picked up a little GRS as I wanted to include another viable long shot, if you can say that without it being an inherent contradiction - skimmed a small equal percentage off of all the rest of the holdings to raise the funds).

ADA 23.78%
STEEM 23.50%
SYS 19.62%
BTS 19.55%
SBD 5.16%
NLG 4.49%
GRS 2.12%
DGB 1.78%

When I look at the Bittrex order book, I think I still might be a little overweight ADA. That's $3,500,000 worth offered below .00000620! But this is long term . . .

BitShares users are a different demographic than Steemit users. Marketing, tutorials, and the like, need to be appropriately adapted.

No better way to get someone to go somewhere else that to treat them like a child.

BitShares must grow up and treat customers and potential customers like adult traders and investors. BTS marketing efforts must do the same. Gimmicks and giveaways are for social media; money managers and individual investors want something a bit more businesslike.

you'd think so right. but most of the questions I see are from people who don't understand bitshares is a separate blockchain or what their blockchain address is or why they aren't allowed a small password they can memorize.

I don't think it matters to walk users through with very simple text blobs.

I do like how the dex is modeled after poloniex layout, although it seems we're getting tradingview incorporation as well and full UI rework has been in progress for weeks or months to make reference wallet better and thus easier for others to use for their exchanges.

You know, I still haven't upgraded, but it sounds good and I'll have to get on it as soon as I get the chance. I'm using the BitShares2-lite as I want a local wallet. Perhaps that hasn't been upgraded yet. I'm really short on time, as you might gather.

Personally, I go for the tried and true FAQ. Again, I don't have time for videos. I've got specific questions that are quickly found and answered in the traditional FAQ format. I think I'm fairly representative of your average busy businessperson. We just don't have endless hours available.

I'm a big believer in not trying to reinvent the wheel once you've got something that works, and unless it's very complicated and justifies something more elaborate (which we've already got here: http://docs.bitshares.org/ ), the FAQ works wonders in my opinion . . . considering the target market, of course.

Edit: Just a quick note on tutorials. I hate video tutorials. You've got to put up with the self-aggrandizement, the latest video of all my greatest kind of thing that has nothing to do with the tutorial, and then when you do finally get to the tutorial, you've got to stop, and start, and "rewind", and stop and start . . . With the traditional How-To, you've got the meat on the screen in the time it takes to load, no chit-chat, no clumsy stopping and starting and looking for where something was, just the key points on how to do something. I think that's what most people like me want.

For this demographic audience, you've got to be warm, personable, approachable and responsive, but also efficient, effective and businesslike.
