1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Testnet Mac uses the wrong Master Public Key on: August 28, 2018, 01:59:14 AM
We are trying to setup a Testnet multi-sig wallet between windows and Mac users. The Mac provides a MPK starting with xpub it wont be excepted by Windows wallets which issue tpub MPK's. Is there a solution to this?
2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Does multisig need to be all set up at one time? on: January 17, 2018, 08:19:13 AM
It seems from my trials that the individual wallets have to be running there does not seem to be a way to save the state, and transfer the keys to each other. If you close the wallet part way it does not save. You end up with new key next time it runs.
Maybe I missed something or made a mistake.
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Does multisig need to be all set up at one time? on: January 17, 2018, 12:38:13 AM
We are looking at setting up a multisig Electrum wallet 2 of 3. When looking it seems you need to have all three people set up at the same time, this is very inconvenient for us. Is there a way to avoid this?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Will the current incentive system lead to bitcoin insecurity? on: July 13, 2011, 01:21:20 PM
With the current incentives of mining or transaction fee doesn't economies of scale mean eventually the processing will be in the hands of the biggest most centralized (read JP Morgan or maybe ICBC) companies. Wont we lose our so called independence?

With a central server you can have even more secure time stamps using one machine instead of a vast network of computers to do that job.  In that sense the protocol is wasteful - it uses huge resources for something that can be done with very little.  Sure it would not be exactly the same thing - it would be an alternative
And all in the control of one source, why even bother? The current money systems do this just fine.

Why do some of the blocks that my miner works on not show in statistics? What happens to the accepted results eg. for 135274 I found about a 100 but there is no 135272 listed in statistics.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inflationary Bitcoin on: July 06, 2011, 12:16:03 PM
A real problem with inflationary money systems is it distorts free markets. The newly created money is irrationally and inefficiently distributed this leads to behaviour such as what caused the GFC.

While new comers to bitcoin (such as myself) are envious of early adopters (just as we are of the historically rich families or of the early gold miners) the fact is that they are an efficient free market.

Its not really in their general interest to grab and hold all the coin they can. If everyone simply holds the coin it will never have any value at all.

The only value in bitcoin is when its used to enable exchange. At the moment most of that exchange is in the US$ <--> Bitcoin. But as mining becomes harder people should begin to look for other ways to transfer value.

After all its more efficient to exchange items I can get at wholesale, for Bitcoins at retail, than it is to exchange currency for bitcoins which is what happens on the exchanges as all exchanges are retail.

I ran avg on a win7 box and it didn't flag bitcoin.
Where did you download your source from?

The installer? The client? Which version? And what code is it giving you?
The client.
It seems to be an evolving problem. I first had it happen with 0.032.21 win 32 as soon as I installed it.
Since I did not pay much attetnion to where I got it from I deleted it.
I then checked that installs were from sourceforge and installed 0.3.22 and had it happen again then I tried 0.3.23rc1  which I had been using upto today. Then I suddenly had it removed by AVG again.
I have now tried 0.3.23 win 32 and as yet have had no problem but I suspect I will.

It'll be $2.50 next friday, and $1.25 the friday after that, assuming you can sell the coins.

What makes you say that? Even after the problems with MT Gox the average price is still over $16

Hi David here, and I am based in Australia. I have been looking, reading and thinking about bc for about a week now. Mining in a pool for a few days and still have a few questions. I need to search a bit more yet but I may start asking soon. I am interested in bc's future as a real goods and services exchange medium.
