Quick question, can I just plug one of these into a USB 3 port on my motherboard or is a powered hub the only way to go? I'm only looking to purchase one at the moment to experiment with. Thanks for any help!
Check the specs of your USB ports. The specs for the U2 state 2.95W @ 5V / 2GH/s, which is almost 0.6A. That's technically outside the USB2 spec, but many USB2 ports can deliver more (since cellphones and tablets are rather power-hungry). USB3 is rated for a much higher current, but your motherboard manufacturer may differentiate between data ports and 'data+charging' ports. Even if you do end up needing a powered hub, you can pick one up at pretty much any big electronics store for cheap. Btw, if you're in the U.S., jonesgear has some U2's on discount now. I couldn't find the exact specs for my motherboard, but I found people using them in notebooks and pretty basic PC's directly so it should be a non issue. In addition, I just ordered my first Antminer from jonesgear! For anyone curious they are on sale for $23 with free shipping from jonesgear, the second cheapest I could find was $26.95 on eBay. Thanks a lot for your help Steve, I appreciate it!

Great coin! Developer is active and communicative with plenty of great ideas looking forward, I hope they all reach fruition. It's been said before and ill be the one to say it again,,, why all the talk of exchanges? This coin was just released, it has forward thinking ideas, and yet everyone is ravenous for an exchange... WHY? This coin is still in it's infancy, it's easily mineable, but furthermore it has absolutely no utility as of yet. A solid foundation is the key to building intrinsic value, moving to market to quickly will ultimately devalue the coin and allow it to fall into obscurity. Just my 0.00000002.

Not investing, im also not saying I could regret that in the future. Anyone thinking of investing at the moment for real ROI please refer to Mazacoin. Aurora will be the benchmark for coins like these, and until we see the true utility of AUR in the real world you're taking a serious gamble here. Ive said it before, and ill say it again; The idea is the gamble and we are the gamblers. Tread lightly or gobble it up, your choice, im watching this one from the sidelines.

I think there are a lot of people here with high hopes for this coin, myself included, but the main question is; WHY? The ideals behind this coin are revolutionary, just like Aurora. It has yet to be seen if either of these coins can be feasible to implement within a nation, and have their value truly ever reach fruition. The idea is the gamble and we are the gamblers. I know that a lot of you here invested in Mazacoin because of the hype, the promise, the fantastic press coverage, but most importantly, the profit....
I really saw a brilliant idea in this coin, but nobody really seems to care about that, the biggest issue with the coin now is its loss in value. If you never believed in the coin and wanted to make quick profits you were only bound to lose, perhaps the next kittehcoin would have been a better investment. I believe Aroura will be the benchmark for how this coin will perform looking forward. If you bought into this coin only to decide to sell out now, you invested in the wrong coin.

Anyone using the new 64-Bit miner for Sandy Bridge CPU's? It crashes upon startup for me, generic miner works fine.
The pics of the GPU miner being posted here are insane! From a technical standpoint its very impressive, however, from a market standpoint it would severely hurt the market, by flooding it with too many new coins too quick. I imagine the GPU miner will stay in the hands of a select few for the time being to maximize personal profit, after that is anyone's guess.

Interesting tidbid. GHashIO is running a 2X earning period on mining LTC with their pool. Upon launch of the BC Multipooll hashrates at GhashIO have dropped about 30%. While this cant account for the entire drop in hashrate, it makes me wonder how many people abandoned ship to come back and mine BC?
With that being said, ive hopped on the pool and it would appear that we are currently only mining Reddcoin? I remember before the site opened the current coin listed as being mined was Reddcoin. I realize the pool is still in its infancy, but at the time of this posting DOGE is currently more profitable to mine than Reddcoin.

is this supposed to be normal with an i5 2500k ? when I see everyone in the top 100 with rates between 2 mhz & 80 mhz on 1gh, I'm kinda worried, it almost looks like there's a secret GPU miner Yeah, thats spot on. My 2500K pulls the same.
