2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: has anyone tested nanopool miner vs claymore miner on: November 30, 2020, 05:25:33 PM
Current Claymore miner is version 15.0 released on December 2019, and there were no updates since 15.0. The current version is valid till #384 DAG epoch - so in next couple of weeks Claymore will become obsolete.
Forget about Claymore, there are alternatives - Phoenix miner, lol miner, and bunch of others... Each miner has his own topic, so the best course of action will be to investigate results other miners have posted in miner-specific topic.
Of course, if mr. Claymore woke from his hibernation - I'll recommend his miner over Nanominer - my small rig gives around 170 Mh/s on Claymore, and on Nanominer it is modest 145 Mh/s.

I'll quote 2 sentences from this article (https://decrypt.co/49182/ciphertrace-files-patents-for-tech-that-traces-monero-transactions), the impact is on 2nd.  Smiley

"But CipherTrace’s patents claim that transactions are entirely traceable.

The patents, however, have not been approved. "

CipherTrace filed their second patent application on Monero tracing techniques.  Nobody can deterministically trace Monero transactions yet.  But this lays the groundwork for meaningful results particularly for tracing large scale thefts & crime
I believe that this whole CipherTrace patent application circus is about milking a cash-cow called US (or any other) government. You know the lines:
" We are about to crack that bad boy Monero, we are in process of obtaining some groundbreaking patents, this is completely new technology, but we NEED more MONEY because all that development costs, you will profit in the long term, bla bla bla..."

7  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Zilliqa (ZIL) staking on: November 14, 2020, 06:30:46 PM
8  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Zilliqa (ZIL) staking on: November 14, 2020, 06:04:44 PM
9  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Zilliqa (ZIL) staking on: November 13, 2020, 10:58:25 AM

Hahaha!  Wink

Ja se sigurno nebih bunio.  Cheesy
Dug je put do 100 merita i idučeg levela... Sad

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Basic Mining Kit on: November 12, 2020, 11:56:50 AM
Well there are 2 ways of mining these days ( i will ignore FGPA's and such)

1) ASICs - Basically its a big box and you only need to give it some electricity and plug in your LAN and you are all set. The newer ASICs are expensive but if you don't care about pulling a profit go to your Craislist or FB marketplace and buy some old second hand Antminer for like $50. Its a great way to learn how mining and crypto works.

2) GPU mining - Basically all you need for this is a standard PC with just 1 PCIe slot where you can buy some cheap RX 470 8GB GPU for like $100 and can mine alt-coins such as ETH. You make like $0.50 per day with $0.10 kwh power. So more profitable than an old Antminer but more complicated to set up.
Actually, there is a 3rd way also - CPU mining. Monero and some shitcoins are CPU mineable. You can even make Raspberry Pi 4 (or any other decent Single Board Computer - Odroid XU4, Rockpro64,...) to mine Monero. A few results of SBC-s are listed on monerobenchmarks.info, so it looks that people like to play (or educate kids) with SBC-s. Don't expect any profit, though. For profit with Monero mining you need newer Ryzen.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: November 12, 2020, 11:29:01 AM
What's the dual mining coin of choice these days, or do people not even bother with the dual part now that there's essentially 0 earnings?
Well, you can try Zilliqa (ZIL). Though - strictly speaking this is not actual dual minig - you mine ethereum, and than for a few minutes you reroute your hash power towards ZIL (mining algo is the same - Ethash).
You can start here: https://zil.rustpool.xyz/get-started
Or any other decent ZIL pool.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 11, 2020, 11:23:26 AM
If I recall correctly, Zen 3 architecture should bring some 20% increase on the average in performance compared to Zen 2. Looks like  this does not translate to RandomX performance for now. Thanks for the link, I was about to pull the trigger on a new CPU.
15  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Raspberry Pi advice needed on: November 11, 2020, 08:37:06 AM
I have a limited experience with SBC-s, I only use one Intel based for general use and surfing.
Perhaps you are asking on the wrong place. Try here:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/

RaspberryPi has a vast community, and your problem is probably already discussed there.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: American election is nothing to do with BTC on: November 10, 2020, 08:31:01 PM
Bitcoin is far to powerful now that one country (no matter how mighty) can have significant impact on his price. Bear in mind that most of the mining farms are outside of the USA.
And, the future US president has far to many domestic (Covid 19, civil unrest) and foreign (Russia, China, Iran) problems to put Bitcoin in its crosshairs.
Also, it appears that smart money is entering Bitcoin:

https://cointelegraph.com/news/silicon-valley-and-smart-money-are-behind-this-bitcoin-rally-data-suggests

So, the price movement in coming months shouldn't be a mistery. Smiley
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 10, 2020, 08:02:23 PM
With release of Ryzen 5000 series, the network hashrate will probably increase gradually.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit found me on: November 10, 2020, 05:24:21 PM
Ahh the first merit... Smiley  Congrats!
Getting first, second and third merit was almost a "mission impossible" for me. After that I wasn't focused that much on earning merits and somehow they have started coming in slowly (I'm not overly active on this forum); but now is earning the 100 merits needed for levelling up something like very distant future to me.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren thoughts on Bitcoin on: October 30, 2020, 01:30:27 PM
"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers."
Thomas Watson, president of IBM, 1943

"There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home."
Ken Olsen, founder of Digital Equipment Corporation, 1977

As you can see from above examples, foolish statements from not-so-insignificant people through recent history were not uncommon. Smiley
