461  Economy / Economics / Re: A career - as an employee or a business owner which do you prefer and why? on: January 08, 2023, 11:50:27 PM
A lot of people will choose to be a boss of their own but the truth is not everyone can run a business. As an employee, you have little decision making to do hence you're not liable to take risks that can make or mar the success of the organisation.
That would serve as advantage for people who have problem deciding when face with the fear that whatever decision they make may bring their whole business down.
correct - people would like to be boss - yet they would not want to work like a boss. There are lazy people who would like to be rich and would not want to work like a boss.
462  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mistakes Successful People Never Make Twice on: January 08, 2023, 11:49:01 PM
In order to help you avoid total failure, one have to avoid making mistakes repeatedly. Here are the some biggest mistakes successful people may make once, but not twice.
I am sure that there is no one in this world who only makes one mistake in his life, there is a big chance to repeat it and for me it is not a problem as long as we don't give up from mistakes and try not to repeat it but if we make mistakes again, it does not need to make us stressed because mistakes are part of humans to eventually become wiser people, sometimes new success will be achieved when we have made lots of mistakes.
Making mistakes in learning and always trying to learn what his mistakes are and trying to avoid the same mistakes will make him develop better.
This is why we must always learn from mistakes to progress in the learning process.
But most people will think that those mistakes are blocking them from moving forward and they forget to learn what they made mistakes and how to avoid them.
Achieving success is the desire of many people but getting there is not easy because there must be lots of tests and only people who don't give up will be able to achieve it.
You are right - but repeating the same mistake twice is a blunder and i have made so many blunders in my life.
463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: January 08, 2023, 11:47:57 PM

It's true that movies like Avatar have a strong advantage in the visual effects category at awards shows like the Oscars. These movies often rely heavily on
The visual effects is not really a category for the movie itself but for the company that did the CGI and that's still good but that doesn't tell much about the movie. No matter how much it was pushed and pushed and pushed on marketing, even didn't let End Game to have the highest box office and put first Avatar on theatres again just for another run in order to get the top box office to make more marketing on the second one, I have to say Avatar will never be a good "movie".

It is about improvement of the cinematic technology and nothing more. For acting, script, and everything else, even producing, its not the best movie at all, its just there to flex on the tech they can use to make a movie and that's it.
In my opinion the most controversial movie goes to OSCAR - one of the movies JOYLAND which is a Pakistani movies and is banned in Pakistan and nominated for Oscar while people of Pakistan are unable to watch it on the big screen here.
Have you seen Avatar yet? I haven't seen that movie, I can't deny that I started to watch it but I only saw it for 5 minutes and it didn't catch my attention, of course, I'll be honest, I haven't gone to see it in the cinema, I was watching it in a downloaded version and of course I saw it with good quality and it had very poor sound quality, it's something that I didn't think, besides, it was a pirated version that they downloaded and I didn't like it because it brought a lot of advertising, and that advertising was mostly from a rather scam casino, and that It was something that really overwhelmed my patience, I didn't like it at all, so I'd rather see it in the movies, but at this point I think it's no longer in the movies.

Hi - five, I am the one who have not watched the movie Avatar.
earlier I thought I am the only one who have not watched this movie - but today I found you too. I tried watching that film so many times but I didnot muster up the courage to watch it
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 08, 2023, 11:45:51 PM
This is a good thing, however I really like the mix of these countries, what comes to mind is that the USA should approve many visas at least for people who are from South America, because European citizens have no problem, Now if we want to see the majority of fans accompanying their teams wherever, I also like that it can be in Mexico to avoid these problems, and I think that may be the reason why it is in Mexico, since they do not require a Visa I imagine that most of the matches in South America will be there, the problem is that if Argentina arrives, Brazil will be that problem in the final, although it occurs to me that they may approve provincial visas only for the World Cup.
Qatar has shown their ability in a great way. Their hosting of this year's World Cup will be remembered in football history. All football fans have become familiar with their culture through this World Cup. Hopefully we will see more innovation in the next World Cup.
1 world cup event in 3 countries, I think this has proven that the next world cup is an innovation but the thing that stands out is the freedom of the fans themselves because visas really affect fans who want to travel freely to support their favorite team. Apart from that, security issues in a country must also be paid attention to because we ourselves know that Mexico has a high crime rate and it is a drug cartel.
We have just experienced the best world cup ever. Now the Arab has been recognized too.
You have mentioned a valid point of how fans will travel and how they will be able to support their counties if they will not be able to travel freely
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Qatar world cup Final Predictions on: January 08, 2023, 11:42:57 PM
At Ronaldo's age and his achievement in football, I don't see what he is loosing based on his proud attitude and ego. If he had gone to any club,he wouldn't be the world highest paid player and all the attention Saudi Arabia is given him wouldn't be there too. There is nothing for him to achieve again after the world cup due to his age and incapable to perform like the young Ronaldo. I see his move to Saudi as an achievement to him.

To me he is already a made footballer, therefore he can decide or do whatever he like because the way I see him now he doesn't care about anybody but only himself and he wants to always be the player that brings attention to himself in any kind way.
Sorry but read your statement again...
Football is all about a team of players working together for one common goal, and that goal is winning..
A player can not win football game on his own, he needs his team on his side, but when such a player(due to pride and ego) refuses to work hand in hand with other players to achieve their common goal, the whole team suffers.
Ronaldo on his own might not have anything to loose but think about the young and up coming players who are just building their career up the ladder, think about what Ronaldo's arrogance and refusal to work hand in hand with them has cost the entire team.

By the way, we all are in this world to live for one another, not to live for ourselves alone.
The world cup ended with the farewell to so many great players like Messi - Ronaldo and Neymar.
Now Ronaldo is coming to KSA - and they have changed their law to allow living relations legal. That is how success speak!
466  Economy / Economics / Re: Effect of the FIFA world cup on Qatar's economy on: January 08, 2023, 11:40:16 PM
Qatar has achieved something great by hosting the world cup and this has brought firm and good relationship with other countries because it will bring private investors to Qatar in the nearest future and this will boost their economy.

I don't think they are bothered about the funds they used to make Qatar meet to the demand of FIFA for them to host the world cup,the country is an oil rich country with small population and the world cup has brought great development to their country in terms of infrastructures and good roads

they can recover those billions of dollars spent in some other ways. now, that they got the attention of the world, that's already their reward from this extravagant event. they will attract more investors and maybe even boost their tourism after this big event. many people are still hesitant going to the arab world because of some horror stories, i guess, in some way, some people will change how they perceive an arabic country like qatar.
The good thing Qatari government did - is taking care of their society and not compromising on those rules.
They have planned to send the stadiums to the underdeveloped countries and buses too.
467  Economy / Economics / Re: The Taste of an Economic Downturn on: January 08, 2023, 11:35:32 PM
The chairperson of the senate committee on agriculture just brushed the issue off saying she can live without onions. This is the same old woman who just encouraged people to reduce their consumption on rice when its price soared intolerably high.

Such people have no sympathy for other people, and that is why her statements should be well remembered and everything should be done so that in the next elections she and her party get as few votes as possible. However, I hope that people will still learn from everything and realize how important self-sufficiency is, so even though it is unrealistic to expect that anyone can be 100% self-sufficient, anyone who has a little land can produce vegetables such as onions, potatoes, lettuce, carrots and parsley and many other cultures that do not require any special knowledge or too much effort.
we have such politicians in our government too. Who insist on reducing tea or coffee to save economy
you are right these people have no sympathy for the poor people or they are so used to all these issues that they don't care much.
468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 07, 2023, 06:54:53 PM
Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed had made 17 runs partnership by facing 21 balls. Which was quite unexpected at the moment. They are lucky to survive their by facing the spin bowlers. Fast bowlers could have created more pressure on them. It was a very close game for both teams. That's why the long lunch break and umpires decision (to use the spin bowlers) has raised a lot of questions.

Did you forget that Naseem shah Hited Consecutive sixes in the T20 World cup and won the Match against Afghanistan?
This guy needs to spend more time on batting sessions for such emergencies.
That day - it was his luck - he never played this way after that.
But we can hope that he can come up as a good batsman
469  Economy / Economics / Re: A career - as an employee or a business owner which do you prefer and why? on: January 07, 2023, 06:53:45 PM
I prefer to be a business owner. I've worked as an employee sometimes in the past but now that I'm working for myself, I make more money, answerable to nobody but only my customers. I am my own boss and it feels good.
For being a business owner one has be be firm in dealing- which is lacking in my case
That is one of the reason - I have failed as a business owner. Terrible failure!
470  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mistakes Successful People Never Make Twice on: January 07, 2023, 06:52:21 PM
We always take the advice of successful people and apply it to ourselves, and I would like to ask if anyone here has become as rich as them thanks to their formula. For me, everyone's success is not the same, we should experience and draw lessons for ourselves instead of looking at others. There are many ways to succeed, our job is to find our own recipe for success, not copy someone else's.
that is so true - we want to listen to them - and we are motivated for a day of two and then we come back to our routine.
Life is not about listening and forgetting all what has people done to seek success. Life is the name of continuous struggle and hard work!

471  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 07, 2023, 06:50:12 PM
If you view everything through a black hole, you will obviously notice everything in a negative manner. The reality is that there is more negativity in this world when compared to positivity which is a constant if you ask me.

Some people get swept away by darkness while some others don't. In my opinion, every year is the same in some ways and different in some other ways.

Don't just focus on the negatives op. Focus on the positive stuff too.
We will be better. The world will heal from the mess and hardship the political class has brought upon the masses. One day all these will be over. The world will experience food security. There will be surplus in nations. Soon famine and hunger will be no more and even if there is, it will have reduced drastically. Despite the hardship, the common person and their families will prevail. This is my mentality.
I dont think so - the coming year will be the worse than the last years.
people are so worried - everywhere - the inflation has changed the lifestyle and way of living of all the people.
472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 07, 2023, 06:45:46 PM
~snip~
I also don't understand and I don't think it was a good idea. In my opinion it totally removes the glamour and protagonism of a country as the registered brand of the World Cup's edition. When we talk about previous World Cups it's nice to attach each of them to a different country, as the culture of the countries which host the event become a symbol of their respective editions. Now with Canada, USA and Mexico hosting a World Cup, all of them at once, it becomes a confusing event with no original and memorable traits at all. Maybe they did this to cut expenses for the hosts, so the costs are splitted between the three parts, but strange anyway.

It's not the first time that this was done though, Korea-Japan 2002 comes to mind, and it was quite successful without any major issues.

Now, this one will definitely be a step forward and will cover a vast amount of distance, plus a third country, so we'll see how it goes.

But in any case, almost all the games are going to be played in the USA, so only a minority of matches will be hosted in Canada and Mexico. This means that not everyone will have to travel to three countries.
But how will the fans be able to get their visas?
the matches plan comes very close and fans have to make their arrangement ahead of it.
I think it will be a tough challenge for the people to get their visa

You could really expect that they would really be taking up that advantage into those buyers or consumers since they do know that they could make more profit out of that
this is why its not really that surprising that lots of things which turns out to be irrelevant on someone for them to buy on which is something that we do know that
it isnt really that much needed but since its their money then its choice to make out and this is something that cant really be avoided specially on holiday season
on where you do really spend up that much.
Even during christmas and after christmas try to save as much money as you could.
Life is so hard these days that we are just buying only the needful items.
There is no entertainment we are doing these days - but still we have difficulty managing our funds.
474  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: January 07, 2023, 06:18:45 PM
What's your take on this?
It depends on how you manage money, money is not evil and misguided, those who have real money are perverted and evil.

Maybe you've heard that money can do whatever you want to do, that's true, while you can manage money, not the other way around money governs you, everything human determines if you talk about money, many in this world do the opposite and can cause chaos, country, household, friends and so on.

Likewise with investing or trading, whether it's related to crypto or other things that are real world, don't ever do stupid things with the money you have, thus you are smarter than money.
if you leave home once without your purse - you will realize that how had it is to survive for a second.
Money truly is the motivating factor - without money there is no life. For sure. Unless you live in a jungle.
475  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid running into financial ruin this Christmas! on: January 02, 2023, 10:36:44 PM
So while having a good time with friends, family and loved ones during this festive season, please remember that January, with all its bills is around the corner.

A very merry Christmas everyone!!!

Had the worst Christmas in 30 years last year. 2 days before Christmas I got covid and had to stay home alone over the holidays. My parents are already old and I didn't want to risk them getting infected. While the whole holidays were kind of sad and lonely, watching bad movies online and eating canned food, it also had some advantages. I didn't have to give any presents to my family and will probably now keep them for this year. Giving presents a few weeks after Christmas seems wrong and like that I already have all the birthday presents for a whole tear. The second good thing is that I didn't gain any weight over Christmas, had almost no food at home and no sweets or biscuits. So financially this was a very good Christmas and I am not so worried about the bills coming in now.
the only important thing these days is taking care your finances. and taking care of health and save yourself from the viral infection
life is so dull and boring when you are unwell and coughing and people are running away from us. Its been two years they we have been spending christmas ill and scared.
476  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: January 02, 2023, 07:48:43 PM
Money is the tool of a system that people set up and consent to in order to get everything we need and store our savings. But money has ceased to be a tool and has become the object of wishes and desires. Due to the unlimited purchasing power of money, people have not been happy to meet only their basic needs and have pushed their possibilities with the effect of their desires. Having enough money to have food and shelter did not make people happy. As a result, people who are overly fond of money have emerged. Jean-Jacques Rousseau “The money we have is our freedom; the money we are chasing is the instrument of slavery.” he said. He perfectly summed up the bond that humanity has established with life through money. In summary, money is a tool as the primary object of the end, an end for the person who wants to gain power by owning the resources.
Once I forgot my purse at home - its has all the cards and cash in it. I was there without even a single penny that day I realized how it feels to live without money
I felt so helpless that I was unable get food for $2 - I rushed home quickly and thanked God. Money obviously is the most important factor in one's life.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 02, 2023, 07:39:07 PM
I really don't know how the audience are going to watch the match, because those who in United States of America cannot travel to and fro to watch the matches among the three countries. And since USA has the highest number of matches in the tournament, the final three matches will be played in USA. Since there are three countries that are hosting the great tournament this this team, the tournament will be more interested because each country will want to make more interesting than the other.
Those who are saying that Argentina will win the next world cup are just playing because the teams that will spring up to beat Argentina will shock everyone..

Since I have been watching World Cup it only one country that normally host the world,  now am confuse how will three countries host the world cup.  That means people that will come watch the world cup can only be in one country that will only host few matches. One country hosting world is the best , for visitors to watch all matches live.
why did they do that? How will teams be moving from one country to another country
Or maybe the pool matches will happen in one country - the quarterfinal in another and the semifinal and final in another country - but this means that teams will be traveling as soon as the match ends.
478  Economy / Economics / Re: Effect of the FIFA world cup on Qatar's economy on: January 02, 2023, 07:34:44 PM
As we know Qatar is the prima donna that much is talked about by the world regarding pouring out the largest economy yesterday through 200 billion US dollars, a fantastic fund in the history of the world cup, In my opinion, there was no economic impact financially for Qatar yesterday. If you look at it theoretically, Qatar will produce the largest economy in the 2022 World Cup, no that's not it, only based on interests or something based on ego wanting to show the world that Islamic countries can do as European countries do and at the same time show hospitality and glory for Islam to non-Muslims, proven, Funds are not a big problem for Qatar. Tolerance between religions is the basis of the goal placed by Qatar as the host of the world cup yesterday, that is my understanding if studied in theory.
I would like to correct information regarding the budget that was spent in the preparations for the World Cup. Qatar adopted a policy in 2010 called Qatar Vision 2030, which aims to develop the country at various levels, the most important of which is the development of infrastructure to be able to accommodate more residents. Of the $200 billion, only 7-8 billion were spent on constructing stadiums, and the rest of the amount was used to develop Qatar's infrastructure, not just to host the World Cup. And Qatar submitted its candidacy in 2012 on the grounds that it would start working on the Qatar Vision 2030 project, otherwise it would not have been able to submit a hosting request.
The income from hosting the World Cup was good and covered the costs of hosting, and it cannot cover the costs of developing the infrastructure in this advanced way.
as mentioned earlier - Qatar is a rich country and they wanted to promote their culture and religion and their trends. Which they successfully did.
They are going to gift the buses and the stadium to the developing countries. Do you think they would have cared for the profit when they have banned the biggest brand of alcohol from the stadium.
479  Economy / Economics / Re: A career - as an employee or a business owner which do you prefer and why? on: January 02, 2023, 07:30:01 PM
being a boss is not an easy task - I run a small Airbnb property and I am a detail oriented person.
And took my sweat and blood most of the time to take care of all the task - since I am poor and I have to clear things on my own. But being a boss is not easy.
Being a boss is never an easy alternative to working as an employee. As a boss, you wake up everyday knowing that every decision you make today can make or ruin your business but as an employee your level of commitment is limited. You only have to worry about your input and the pay at the end of the month.
that is correct - but that is how we learn - I am no longer a same liener sweet person I was before and I am proud of it.
I am not more rigid and reserve - thanks to my small business -  injected myself with vitamin N - where N stands for NO

What will be will be.

Even if you are so careful in this crypto space and you understand every rightful and wrongful things, what will fail will fail and you will still make some mistakes.

We are humans after all and there are many things we can't control, I could have become a crypto millionaire a few times before and I missed those opportunities after every thing I knew about crypto, if the time is not right for you things won't go your way.
Que Sara Sara
What will be will be. point well mentioned. WE make plans and GOd disapproved them.
That is how the life Goes - - But OP has mentioned very valid points - I like the one which says one should always ask for help - - but without bothering others
