Is joel involved in the new coin?....not trying to upset anyone just a question.
You will know it soon. Smiley

Is possible write the important announcements even on the 1° page?  Huh
.

Unfortunately no its not. The only person who can update the OP is Joel. Due to his absence they cannot write updates or change the thread title to reflect important information/changes. The best way to get this information is on the coin2talk forum at the moment. If Joel's hiatus is a long one then I do hope at some point they open a new announcement thread. At least they could then update and change the OP if need be.
We will open a new OP when the new coin will be released.

Thank you !

Here is some help to restore your Coin2.0 balance.

You are authorized to run your wallet to do this, but close it again when done:

PLEASE CLOSE YOUR COIN2.0 WALLETS FOR INVESTIGATION PURPOSE.

Don't run your wallets again until the Dev team provides new instructions.

Now we've at least couple options on the table to help solve the problems which is great and sign off Coin2 community is getting the interest of talented people. This is not just good or great news but more than an excellent news.

Let's focus on step 1, diagnose the block chain to attempt retake the node that suspicious to be the cause.
If this option not working, then go for  UdjinM6 & Freddag agreed on proposed solution. How's that sound? The worst case scenario is adopt the proposed update NC2 wallet before the swap?
I also consider the presence of new talents in the community as an excellent news.

Many thanks to UdjinM6 and Freddag for their help, diagnostic and proposals.

Quick update:
Kalisto is currently digging to find the block chain problem.

I know I will be annoying with my query... I apologise for that in advance!

In the last posts there was discussed, how to release coin swapping, but no information about code update.

Could board members please give as some hints how far the code is developed and/or is it brewed so the swapping is the last thing to do. I admit that things move quite slowly and strongly in behind-the-scene manner.

Yes, and some words from Joel would be grateful. His last post is about how close he is to quit... That makes nervous not only me, taking into account recent problems with unconfirmed transactions.
The Dev team is working hard and the new wallet is going to be coated in the silk. This is why we already think about the next stage.

We added some extra features like a punching ball allowing the users to let off steam when everything goes wrong.

It was important for us to take some (good) time to evaluate the situation and the alternatives before development.

We apologize for the delay and we understand very well your concerns.

You will get new coin specification and answers very soon.  Wink

Just my 2 cents but the transfer needs to be "dummied" down. I myself am not an advanced IT person but can figure things out if given the path. I know some people though who dont know the first thing about computers. They can not be excluded from this transfer due to the lack of knowledge of how to accomplish it. Last time was nice and easy. Send to an exchange, wait for the transfer, withdraw into the new wallet. Can someone explain why we are veering away from this method. I though we were going to send to either bittrex or nxt-e and let them do the transfer.

Just an fyi ive learned a lot in the past couple of months about cryptos and programming itself just from this community. Thanks all

basically - transactions doesn't get confirmed anymore
We are trying to find the most user-friendly solution to exchanges coins from computer wallets.

I want to know when to begin to change the C2
I don't want to miss
Can anyone tell me roughly the time and way
The new wallet will be released soon.

Please come here to check announcements of like the FB page to receive Dev team updates.

Speaking of untrusted info and the way to help devs - you just gave me another idea btw

Dev can make simple form to request only this kind of info - "old address, signed message, new address". So there will be no need to make transaction and it can be nicely automated too.
[snip]

What do you guys think? Roll Eyes

Hey there UdjinM6 .

I like this approach... no need to try and get corrupt wallets to send a transaction, instead holders prove they own an address.
Hopefully this is something the guys can use.

Thank you for your proposal. It's look like a good solution to me and it isn't too difficult for common users if the instructions are well clear.

In a first step, I'm trying to understand what's happen with the blockchain since we launched the coins deposit to exchanges.

It seems to me a node is mining and his blocks only are confirmed by other nodes. I can't say if it is a real attack using the PoW vulnerability or if somebody took accidentally control of the blockchain because he thought about mining to secure the Network. Of this fact nodes are not allowed to generate new PoS blocks and transactions (PoS blocks too?) are never confirmed.

If I understand this well, he could have a monopoly on the blockchain because he's generating more blocks than other nodes and his block chain is always longer than other ones.

My idea: if we were able to take the control of the blockchain and to secure the network again, we could relaunch the coins deposit to exchanges in the standard way.

If you are able to make some diagnostics and to find a solution, your help will be appreciated. Smiley

Don't you see all the people involved in the Coin2 project ?

hey King Arbin, any ideas why a deposit to bittrex has no confirmations an hour and a half later?

Cause the network is kinda gone to hell atm.. just wait, i have received word from the exchanges that they have your unconfirmed so things will still be ok during the conversion, but just do like FredDag was saying and try to rescan your blockchain or redownload it. We are gonna have to manually convert peoples coins by having them send their wallet.dats to us AFTER everyone has the new wallet so they have a new address to tell us where to send their coins.

Just thinking out loud King....

Instead of sending wallet files in, could we do RPC calls to get the available balance of some wallets?

Something along the lines of....
- Devs:
--- Designate & publish a master IP address where the authorised RPC calls will originate (xx.yy.zz.111)
--- Create script on (xx.yy.zz.111) to receive input of holders IP address, make RPC Calls & save the result for use in change-over.
- Holders:
--- Ensure wallets are encrypted
--- Update config with RPCAllowIP (xx.yy.zz.111)
--- Open wallet but leave locked
--- Visit script on (xx.yy.zz.111) which will attempt to RPC getBalance() & listUnspent() based on holders ip address

Not saying this would be 100% perfect solution, but maybe it could take some of the load off the dev team.
+1
that's pretty interesting idea...

Just to make sure

will these instructions be the one to follow once we are allowed to transfer our coins?

Quote
INSTRUCTIONS:

IF YOUR COINS ARE ON AN EXCHANGE, LEAVE THEM THERE!  THE EXCHANGE WILL SWITCH THEM OVER.

IF YOUR COINS ARE IN YOUR WALLET, READ BELOW.

1. Send a screenshot of your wallet including date and time.
2. Include a copy/paste of your old wallet address and copy/paste of new wallet address.  ( Obviously as soon as you have the new wallet.)

Which mean if we have fund on mintpal we leave them to mintpal for the swaping?
Exactly !

PLEASE STOP YOUR COIN2 DEPOSIT TO EXCHANGES !

WE HAVE A NETWORK SECURITY PROBLEM.

The transactions are not confirmed anymore.

Wait for further instructions.

Are there any further instructions yet?

nope not yet. I am sure when there will be any we will know about it as soon as devs will know it Smiley
The situation is very simple:

The Coin2 network is under attack again or a big wallet has too much staking power and it locks new PoS blocks generation and confirmations.

If we are able to secure the network again, exchanges will swap most of the coins,
else we will swap coins manually from computer wallets when the new coins and the new wallet will be available.

HERE IS A WAY TO CANCEL YOUR UNCONFIRMED TRANSACTIONS AND TO RESTORE YOUR WALLET BALANCE:

For anyone wanting to reclaim "coins sent, but still with 0 confirmations", without re-downloading the blockchain...
This should recover unconfirmed sent coins back into the available balance (on windows)...

1. Open the C2.0 wallet.... Help > Debug Window > Console > 'repairwallet' >> Recovered amount will be displayed in output.
2. Close the C2.0 wallet...
3. Open the c2.0 wallet with "-rescan" parameter *
4. The recovered coins should now be included in the available balance.

* Shortcut Example
"C:\Coin2.0\coin2.0-qt.exe" -rescan

* CMD Example
cd c:\Coin2.0
coin2.0-qt.exe -rescan

Edit To Add:

As far as I know, this should work on any QT wallet.

Thank you FredDag, it worked fine for me and for others people.

i haven't read full announcement and send my coins on mintpal from my wallet , but in wallet it's showing 503 confirmation  Shocked but still 0 coins on mintpal ! i think i lost all my coins ! and when i run this command (  'repairwallet' ) then it's not display any recover amount  Undecided  i get only this message ->  wallet check passed" : true

Deposits are frozen on MintPal and they should take your transaction in account when they will swap the coins.

The repairwallet function doesn't work for you because your transaction is already confirmed.

before I see this
I have finished re-downloading blockchain
now my balance of the Qt looks all right
But the same amount is also shown in bittrex as pending deposit
need I do the repair/rescan thing?
After repair, my test deposit is pending too in Bittrex.
Unconfirmed transactions will stay as unconfirmed in the block chain and we have probably no way to cancel them.

My advise swap your coins through Bittrex and BTer instead of Mintpal to prevent all in one basket. If something happened, at least some not totally busted.

And you sir dont give bad advice.. I have already got a total on mintpal and bter both and do not want it to change. =D
You will have to change your total because some users have locked deposits @MintPal and B-Ter.

COIN2 DEPOSIT TO EXCHANGES STARTS NOW

Ok here is transparency for you guys

Mintpal    31,146,142.69841092
BTER      23,847,627.8478
Poloniex     2,366,428.61322783
C-Cex            6,013.758472
Bittrex      1,006,590.20254400

Total: 58,372,803.12045475

Those are the totals on the exchanges after the attack, xnigma and comkort have not responded
yet. So since bittrex is still open, were going to ask them to freeze everything for the moment, if you
guys want to you can go ahead and send your coins to either nxt-e or bittrex, both need exposure
to our community and will help us be kept in both places. The reason for deposits is to avoid wallet
screenshot scams and get an estimated total of what is still left out of the exchanges in wallets.
Failure to do this will result in lost coins.

I cannot make this any clearer:
1) Only deposit if your coins are in a personal wallet
2) Do not try to move your coins from one exchange to another
3) Do not try to withdraw your coins after you deposit to an exchange.
4) Lets try and make this swap go as smoothly as possible.
5) You have til the end of the week.

Deposit to either of these exchanges
Don't be biased and only go to bittrex.
Once your coins are in, their there til
                         conversion. Thanks.

To push it up !!!

COIN2 DEPOSIT TO EXCHANGES STARTS NOW

....
that's nice  Smiley
few questions though:
- how can we secure network if all our coins will be on exchanges that doesn't stake like local wallets do?
should large holders wait till the end of the week then to prevent another attack or is it safe now?
- what final decision was made on new coin parameters?
bump

I am staking 1.5 million NC2 right now to help secure the network and will try to send the coins towards the end of the deposit period to minimize risk of an attack.
Thank you !
