Awesome, glad to see someone is finally working on something that has an actual utility. I've used the axel ipfs app and it's been far better than any other ipfs service I've used before. Ease of use and customer satisfaction = mass adoption.

Can't wait, followed AXEL for awhile, people are going wild for the IPFS pinning product already so I bet the token will see mass adoption rapidly!
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should we boycott the Facebook Coin (Project Libra)? on: July 02, 2019, 11:58:39 PM
Facebook is the antithesis of everything Satoshi stood for.

Should we, as the crypto community, boycott their effort?

I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook tried to use their massive wealth and lobbying arm to try and push for laws that favored their crypto and somehow harmed others.

It wouldn't be the first time that a company had engaged in lobbying and rent-seeking to harm competitors.

All these points are just guesses. Facebook alone cannot ditch the growth of other popular crypto currencies, especially BTC and ETH.

Facebook can dump millions of dollars into lobbying to push other cryptocurrencies and exchanges out of the market.

"Well yes Mr. Senator, we here at Facebook Libracoin track all transactions with KYC... but Bitcoin doesn't and is used for funding terrorism, you should definitely make it illegal to deal in Bitcoin in the US."

Just wait...

I think you just give people premature fear. Do not be afraid of what is unlikely ever to happen. I am sure that the Facebook coin on the contrary will have a positive effect on Bitcoin.
It will bring more promotions in regards to crypto industry, bitcoin will get more attention when this project start to work inside, curiosity will bring more people inside the market, the industry might be lift as more investors to come around and help, we ain't sure how or where the market will be heading if this project will be a big lift or just another ordinary crypto that will be formed.

Or Facebook will use their massive wealth and lobbying power to create laws pushing other cryptos out of the legal-sphere and into the illegal. Many large companies use this exact strategy to achieve market dominance.

Estonia seems to be the most digital-friendly, but Japan seems to be the best for crypto itself.

Noda is too expensive, given the fact that the price will fall and there is no guarantee that the developers will not disappear.

AXEL has been around for a decade. They're all about data privacy and this is just one part of it (I started using their online file hosting system after I saw their work here and looked them up, it's pretty good). They're not a random group of devs that spawned out of the recesses of the internet for this one project alone.

Looks pretty cool. Glad to see there's finally a project out there that's putting products first and not just rushing into a shitty ICO pump & dump. Are you just doing a Masternode sale or are you going to do some sort of IEO?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make bitcoin wallet and print out the private key? on: May 30, 2019, 07:45:35 PM
What would you recommend?
Depends, if you want ease of use there is many propositions out there.
If you want more secure approach, there are another propositions. Securing keys offline or printing them and storing them safe (!) is important advice.
In the end its all about how much you want to store on specific address because its not worth doing 30 steps as someone advices here if you will store $100.
Security must be chosen to amount of money you want to store.

And at a certain point you need to split up that money across multiple wallets. Even the most secure paper wallet can be lost, stolen, or damaged.

Just to drop in, avoid https://walletgenerator.net/ <---------------DO NOT CLICK

A bunch of info about their code differing from their public Github code, in such a way that creates duplicate wallets, just came out.

This is really important for anyone who made a cold wallet. Move your coins to somewhere safe, now!

The market has showed an amazing amount of resilience these past few weeks. Bitfinex/Tether, Binance, etc. Imagine if this sort of news broke six months ago? We'd have crashed and burned like crazy. Now, even with both of those things, we're up around 30% this month.

It's just insane.

That just about covers my opinion on the different storage methods available today. Please let me know your thoughts.

This is an excellent write-up on the capabilities and drawbacks of wallet storage methods. +1 Merit to you, and my best wishes that any newbie who comes on this forum will take the time to read through your guide and, if not follow your advice, at least begin to consider the security threats of online or hot wallets.

How about this one? I wrote it up to help people who may read too much into a single news piece or source, and extrapolating prices based on that.

18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Avoiding The Post Hoc Fallacy When Trading on: April 24, 2019, 07:12:37 AM
tl;dr

You did not read your own article? If you have copied it then add the proper references.

Anyways for making decision you not only need all the current data but historical data too. By checking what event caused what prive movement in history will give you some idea, how the market can behave in future if same events happens again.(though previous performance does not gurrantee the same future performance.)

The tl;dr is for anyone who didn’t read the whole thing. I wrote the article, it’s just for those among us who might have skimmed.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Investors Be Ok With Taking Calculated Risks. on: April 23, 2019, 11:25:19 PM
Investment and trading is not the same thing. OP actually talks about an investment which usually requires years before it finally turns into a good profit.
Fits both trading and investment strategies in my opinion. Controlling your emotions and stick to your investment/trading plan are the key to success because it prevents you from knee-jerk reactions like buying into falling knives or holding positions too long when greed kicks in.

Yep! It's a business like any other and you need a plan. Not one you stick to no matter the circumstance, but one that serves as your guiding purpose. Are you willing to lose everything for a chance of an amazing return? Then your guiding principle is different than someone who wants to make enough profit to support themselves comfortably but also not risk losing everything.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Avoiding The Post Hoc Fallacy When Trading on: April 23, 2019, 06:26:23 PM
Avoiding the Post Hoc Fallacy

When you first get into trading, many people try to make sense of market movements, but in doing so many also fall into a Post hoc ergo propter hoc mindset.

This is Latin for "after this, therefore because of this", and is an informal fallacy that essentially means "Since this second event followed this first event, the second must have been caused by the first event." Often people just shorten it to the Post hoc fallacy. This is a common problem for stock traders, and even worse at times in the crypto community.

Take for example the following scenario...

Quote
Bitcoin has been trending steady for a number of months, when the Aldi grocery stores (an international chain) announce that they will now accept Bitcoin for in-store purchases. Overnight, Bitcoin shoots up by over $600, or 15%. You recognize this and think, "Okay, grocery stores adopting Bitcoin leads to an increase in price, so I will invest in Bitcoin right before another chain makes an official announcement that they will begin to accept Bitcoin.

That is the basis of many people's trading strategy but unless you do a good deal of research it can cause you terrible losses. That scenario may be true, Aldi accepting Bitcoin may have caused a surge in market activity in the upwards direction, but if that was the extent of your research, what you may have missed was that on the same day, India legalized the use of Bitcoin for paying property taxes. If you didn't do thorough research, you could easily assume "if this, then therefore that" about the grocery store adoption and make a poor investment based on that fallacy.

This fallacy can also be a problem because these price movements aren't always in the same direction. Take for example the same scenario as above, but instead of legalizing cryptocurrency for paying property taxes, India took down the largest exchange somehow and the price of bitcoin fell rapidly. If you didn't research that and only saw the grocery store news and then saw the price drop, you might make the opposite conclusion, that somehow Aldi adopting Bitcoin pushed the price down. Large price movements can hide useful knowledge about other smaller price movements.

tl;dr
Do your research... thoroughly, especially when you want to start making assumptions about price movements using the news and current events.
