Presumably just temporary. Because as you know there is only one blockchain with any security whatsoever.

You assumed it right, the nodes on those cloud provider are temporary. It's the fastest way to test the concept. Once live, those nodes can be deployed by anyone.

Going mainsteam isn't just for bitcoin but its crypto/blockchain in general. It's a technology that will be for the masses. It isn't now but it will be. Baby steps
