You can't have altcoin season as altcoins are still overpriced. You might see from time to time, one out of tens of thousands making 100x, but it would be quite impossible to predict.
Also most of the 2017 alts will probably never recover to make a new ATH. Their teams failed to create value. So it is better to try and find new upcoming projects that are undervalued and have potential. I highly doubt that projects that did thousands of times movements in 2017 will become relevant again as cryptocurrencies.
Right now we have thousands of exchanges offering ridiculous IEO's and cryptocurrencies used by nobody. In 2017 it was like 5 big exchanges and 10 smaller ones that managed to pump every shitcoin.
I remember in cryptopia one day I bought every coin that was valued at 1 sat. They pumped all of them in a few days to 10-100x.
Sadly this isn't happening again. There is no actual interest right now like we had in 2017. We just have Tether pumping now. I don't see a short term pump for altcoins.
I even doubt that Bitcoin can stay above 10k for the next few days.
