UPDATE -
Just want to let everyone know that we have reached out to Goldmann in a PM for info on everything he has done for the Guncoin community today.
With his permission, we will post his contributions to our website and to the main forum threads.
Also, regarding some of the exchanges (Bittrex, Cryptsy, Bter) we have reached out to them for getting GUN listed.
We are waiting on replies from all three of those exchanges and will give you all a status update when we know more.
Mintpal no good? Mintpal is on our list as well as a few others. We just haven't got that far yet. Will keep you all updated as we are in contact with more exchanges. Question for the other solo miners working this coin, are you earning the amount of coin expected based on your hash rate and the difficulty? I'm not. I am getting much less. I am just wondering if is an error in my calculations, or if something isn't working right. I've been throwing 5.25 MH/s at this for a day and a half, call it 36 hours, and have found only 6 blocks. Thats 6 hours or 21600 seconds per block @ 5.25 MH/s.
From getmininginfo I see the hash rate bouncing from 7ish to 15ish. It's 9.13 right now. The network hash rate is 232,523,288/sec right now. (at this rate I should have about 2% of the blocks @ 30 per hour = .6 per hour).
The calculation is simple, correct me if I'm wrong, but Average Time to find a block, in seconds, = 2^32 * Difficulty / HashRate. And, yes, it is an average time that can vary with 'luck'. Sometimes they come much faster, sometimes much slower. But I'm averaging 6 hours per block over 36 hours. Reworking the equation gives:
Difficulty = Average Time * HashRate / 2^32... or in my case Difficulty = 21600 * 5,250,000 / 2^23 = 26.4. This represents the average difficulty I am seeing over the 36 hours I have been mining it. Doesn't seem right... way too high....
So, am I just seeing 'bad luck' or is there an issue? Are most solo miners getting what they expect?
I couldn't understand why at a difficult of 10, I needed to mine a best score of over 18M - That didn't make sense to me. Difficulty of 10 on Doge, Flappy, Litecoin, AsiaCoin = Difficulty below 2 million I thought I may be mining wrong (is this keccak) but no... its scrypt. Is this DigiSheild in action? Right off the bat, overall numbers look correct, and the pools are getting what they expect. We will look into your concerns and let you know what we find. Guns illegal here in the UK. (shotguns with licence for farmers are ok)
A friend of mine goes shooting, I know in my younger years .22 rifles, crossbows and airguns were popular with some friends of mine.
I had a moral dilemma about mining this coin.
In South Africa Guns are probably more common than the States. Hotels in Johannesburg have gun collection on the reception desk.
I always wondered, if I lived in Texas, and I was licenced to carry a gun (lets just say for argument) - would I have the guts to use it?
Perhaps Guncoin could support a charity related to GunCrime or Education ??
Identity with such a controversial coin is crucial.
I detect a reluctance to talk on this thread about Guns.
I could be wrong however, if so correct me.
Anyway, Im mining it! I do have a fascination for guns, but more the history and mechanics / physics of the devices.
I don't go shooting, have no licence, and don't even own a catapult.
I guess In Texas a Gun is like a mobile phone.
I think supporting some charities is a great idea and we will contemplate what we can do. Personally, I think firearms education is a top priority anywhere in the world. We may be able to do some sort of a "GUN Drive" to raise GUN donations for a specific charity or two. This is now added to our wish list for sure. Good idea! |

Guncoin price holding well!
Is anybody buying? Yes, looks like it has been selling for around .00001425 BTC. Very cool! Also, as an update: - We are in contact with some of the larger exchanges today. We hope to have some good word for these in the near future. - More website changes are being performed today/tomorrow - MAC and Android Wallets are in the works! - Only 1 remaining person from the IPCO that has not replied to us regarding their Guncoins. More information to come!! |

Anyone else pleased with the way the launch went today?
I appreciated the low block reward ramp-up to give everyone time to get miners on task, etc. The lack of morons screaming about some aspect they didn't like was refreshing. Rapid feedback from support was great.

Thank you everyone for taking any issues with stride and keeping the launch drama-free. Today was extremely constructive all around. Regarding the IPCO transfers, they are almost all completed with just a couple folks that have not replied to our emails yet. |
