I've been playing around with various tools to create a homepage for my lightning node. It's been a lot of fun and I've learned a lot.

Here, check it out

goblin-no.de

It is what it is. It's still a work in progress. I have some ideas to improve it, we'll see.

When does the dude give us a photo of where am I?

Phil - You never said what you mean by this...

Do you actually want someone to post a photo of where you live? That may not be too smart, but you've said you have a one-of-a kind name in the entire world, so...

the dude is not me.

the dude runs contests with photos and asks where is the dude.

DUDE!

let him do his own research on this thread and maybe then he will learn something.

@Hueristic - Am I supposed to just automatically know 'the dude' is someone like Trevor Rainbolt, the TikToker who identifies locations by what's in photos?

Dude

I have deployed an automated gallery of hat avatars. The display order is randomized and non-repeating. Each avatar is shown with the corresponding name beneath it.

It's not that it's very useful, but it looks nice, or at least I think so. I enjoy glancing over and watching the hats slide by.

(I am currently missing a few hats, perhaps only five or six, but they will be uploaded soon. Apologies for any minor grammatical errors when applying the names. I will check the final result once the set is complete.)

Weekly RSI makes 2025 like a bear market.

It could dump a little bit more but overall new ATH in 2026.

Nice chart. By the look of it, it seems like we've bottomed out, or close to it.

Most of my net-worth is in bitcoin, and has been for many many years. I do however have a small trading stash that's all in cash right now. My buy orders are between $60-70k, but I might have missed the train this time.

This is great.
I know running a well-connected LN node is quite an effort and requires constant tuning.
Also, what is the ballpark total liquidity you put in that node?

I agree. Even though I've tried to automated as much as I can, such as re-balancing certain channels and having dynamic fees (depending on the liquidity of the channel), it requires daily tuning for it to be profitable.

For most of its time, I've had about 5 btc tied up with this node. Last week however, after a two months holiday away from the node, I decided to double down and opened a 5 btc channel with LOOP.

Having a channel with LOOP can be very profitable, they offer swapping LN to on-chain, and vice versa. However, they automatically close the channel when most of the funds are on their side. By having such a large channel with them, I'm hoping to prevent that.

More information about my node can be found here here.

Crap. Oh well, doom and gloom it is.

Anyway, I thought I'd share some LN activity.

It looks like your node is running quite well. I got fed up after a series of hardware issues and basically shut them down but recently spun back up one of my old nodes.

Happy to see back. You and some others (you know who you are) here on the WO made me start my LN node 3 years ago.

The activity on the LN has definitely increased lately. As shown in the picture above, I've routed about 15 btc the past week with a profit of 735k sats.

If you need some inbound liquidity, please let me know.

Regarding the steak discussion (wagyu etc).

I grew up on a ranch in the northern parts of Sweden. The land was full of moose and my dad liked to hunt, so we had more or less unlimited access to game meat during my childhood.

I guess I'm biased, but to me, nothing beats a medium rare moose steak.

What's up WO,

I've been away for a quite while, spending the last couple of months at our new vacation home.

I'm trying to catch up a bit. I'm not going to read everything I've missed, but reading the posts from the past week, there's a lot of doom and gloom sentiment here.

For crying out loud, we are still above 100k. If anyone told me during the 2022-2023 bear market that we would complain about current prices, I'd just laugh.

100k to me mind blowing, yet I believe we will look back at these prices a few years from now as a total steal.

Great stuff. I would like to order #1 of my own hat.

I'm a big proponent of LN, so if we could settle this with an LN invoice (I'm located in the EU) that'd be cool. Otherwise, I'm happy to do an on-chain tx. Just let me know

Cheers

Persistence pays off.

Thanks for running your node.  All said, you may well had done more than $20k in labor (as your hobby), plus the capital you put up with equipment and with BTC.

Happy to be of service. I never expected making any profits out of this. As long as it covers my expenses, I'm happy. The rest is just a bonus.

Heading abroad next week for a couple of months of vacation.  Leaving my node for an extended time always makes me wary, but it should be fine (last time I was abroad I had to explain to my mom on a video call how to restart the server after a power outage)...

@hisslyness Sorry for closing our channel. I was just trying to take advantage of the LOOP activity, making me close channels where funds were all on my side. I'll re-open a 8M sats channel

A little update on my Lightning Network venture.

My node has been running close to 3 years now. During that time, I've routed over 500 btc.

Here's some stats for the past 90 days

For the past 30 days I'm 0.009 btc in profits and in 90 days it's at 0.067 btc.

So is it fair to say n 1000 days and 500 routed btc made you over 0.200?..

IF SO IS it close to 0.5 btc

That would be around 1/1000 of 500 coins

While 0.2 would be 1/2500 of 500 coins.

I know you have an active ln node

Well, not really. The past 6 months have been far more active than the first two years.

F*ck it, full disclosure. Here's the stats of the node's lifetime

Total profit is 0.162 btc, as you can see in the graph.  However, as you can see, most of the profit is made in the past 6 months. LN activity is growing.

What's up fam, it's been a while.

I've treated myself (that's the WO-sign we used a few years back, right?).

Nice!

I am really happy for you! You deserve this 100%

Can't go wrong with a Porsche! Which model did you get?

Thanks!

It's a Macan.

I use it as my main/family car. We're are a small family of three, so it fits us perfectly.

I really love this car, Porsche is something else.

I bought a new domain for my LN node btw -- pleb.channel. At the moment, it's redirecting to my old meme url goblin-no.de, but whenever I have some time, I might do something useful with it. Ideas are welcome.

Another month is coming to an end in the Lightning realm.

This month has been something else. I've never experienced anything like it during my 3 years of running a routing node.

May 14th was particularly crazy. I routed ~7 btc on that day, with about 5 btc alone on my channel with LOOP. I have a 1 btc channel with them, and it kept getting drained at ~3500-4000 ppm, while I was able to rebalance the channel at about 2500-3000 ppm. Here is an example from my telegram bot (all these forwards happened instantaneously).
Quote
💰 Forwarded 0.12192240 Kraken 🐙⚡️ → LOOP. Earned 0.00043806 0.36% (3593)
💰 Forwarded 0.24334431 bfx-lnd0 → LOOP. Earned 0.00087432 0.36% (3593)
💰 Forwarded 0.24384481 LNBϟG [Edge-2] → LOOP. Earned 0.00087612 0.36% (3593)

Before the day was over, I was over 1M sats in profit. Looking at my node's previous performance, I made about 3 months profit in one day.

The traffic slowed down somewhat after that, but this month has still been out of the ordinary. The APY this month on the btc I've tied up on my node is 6%. That's pretty wild. Here are my statistics for the past month.

Let's break down the numbers. During the last 30 days, I've routed ~50 btc. My revenue is 0.12 btc and I've paied 0.089 btc in rebalancing my channels, making a profit of 0.031 btc.

However, during all my years of routing, the APY is on a more moderate level of 0.6%.

Also...

SAY MY NAME.

Jazz. Hello?

cAPS, I'm really happy you're posting again. Gives me a reason to visit, please don't stop.

Our new vacation home is taking shape.

It's amazing what 0.5 btc will give you, considering what I paid for it back in the days.

Now it may sound cheap, but a decade from now, the same amount will probably be enough for a big mansion.

So, another half Bitcoin and you will have actual doors, windows, heating, electricity and flooring?
Not bad at all  Tongue Wink Grin

That's the final cost actually, including windows, AC, flooring and what not.

This is Thailand, so material and labor is very cheap compared to any western country.

Yeah, i was only joking. I thought the Emojis did emphasize this.
Really cheap. Is Thailand still safe, i mean a little more off big cities and/or touristic villages?
I always considered putting something up there, too, but i heard so many contrasting things.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a retard when it comes to understanding emojis and all that.

Thailand has been my 2nd home for the past 8 years. We have an apartment in Bangkok as well. During all my years there, I have never felt unsafe walking alone late at night. I feel much safer there than I do in my home country (Sweden).

The traffic on the other hand, that's where I should be worried. The risk of getting in a traffic accident is like 10x higher than my home country. My brother-in-law nearly got killed a couple of years ago when he was rammed by a car while he was driving his motorbike.
