621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Terra Luna Questions on: December 07, 2023, 03:08:49 PM
https://finbold.com/terra-classic-price-skyrockets-to-1-billion-market-capitalization-can-lunc-hit-0-0002-in-december-as-tgc-token-also-surges/

"Furthermore, Mint Cash – a permission-less, Bitcoin-backed payments system – announced a potential revival of the Terra ecosystem, Anchor Protocol and USTC, this time collateralizing the stablecoin with BTC. Aleph Research is also contributing to the project, with its executive director Daniel Hong claiming that the revamp plan will rebuild “what the original Terra stablecoin failed to deliver”.

Mint Cash has also announced an airdrop for pre-crash $UST and $LUNA holders, a move that is generating significant interest in the Terra Luna community. The combination of Binance’s futures listing and the Bitcoin-backed Terra revival plan resulted in a strong surge of value in both USTC and LUNC. "

Very good manipulation involving Binance, and this exchange has the largest trading volumes for this coin.

623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot - parachain auctions on: December 07, 2023, 02:58:50 PM
https://futures.web3.foundation/
"This program is set to distribute 20 million USD and 5 million DOT tokens to support individuals and teams as they launch new initiatives aimed at growing the Polkadot ecosystem. The main objective is to expand the network by adding self-sustaining participants. Funding is available for Polkadot-focused organizations that aim to generate profit, as well as for non-profit ventures that have a strategy to secure ongoing financing through Polkadot's on-chain treasury system beyond 2024."

Will it help them! I doubt as such initiatives have been launched by other competitors and I don't think it went as expected. I am not against the such initiatives, I don't see anything good happening. They came up with a brilliant idea when the launched polkadot but it has not been the same for the so called Ethereum killer.
You are right that the Polkadot ecosystem has fallen behind Ethereum due to some bad policies, but management is trying to correct the situation and cancel auctions. I've been talking about this for a long time. But Ethereum needs competitors in the market, so Polkadot and Cosmos have a chance at market share.
624  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is my plan legal? Managing the account of a dead person on: December 07, 2023, 02:49:42 PM
First of all, make sure you understand crypto tax laws in your country, maybe you're panicking for no good reason. I'm not aware of any EU country demanding tax on unrealised crypto holdings (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong).
So if you want to buy BTC with your lawfully earned money, then you have nothing to worry about, other than paying tax on capital gains when you sell with profits. Some banks may cause troubles when sending such large amounts to an exchange, but if it's not illegal, you should be able to do so upon jumping few hurdles.

So unless your country taxes unrealised gains, moving btc to your mother in law is not necessary. Also, you need to consider how will you cash it out? Will your mother in law officially give the btc back to you (provided she's still alive in 2035)? Will she be able to explain where did she get that from? It could be worth millions by then and it could trigger much more scrutinous investigation with a risk of whole amount getting seized.
I think that the first problem is that in many countries the tax legislation for cryptocurrencies has not yet been formed and may change, so declaring cryptocurrencies has its own risks. There is a risk that Bitcoin will cease to be the main coin and will give way to Ethereum.
Investing in only one coin for 10 years is also very risky. I would make an investment portfolio of 5-7 coins
625  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Criminal Investigation Unit Is Taking on More Crypto Tax Cases on: December 07, 2023, 02:43:00 PM
Is it surprising? I guess not! US government is leaving no stones unturned to stop crypto adoption. As a gameplan, they have now started disturbing common people with regulatory hassles. Now if a common person is constantly pushed with legal things, they will get fed-up and probably turn away from crypto totally. That's what IRS wants it seems!

US can't control cryptocurrency. But they can indeed control their citizens. They started with cryptos and now shifted focus towards exchanges and citizens. Sad!
The US cannot stop the introduction of cryptocurrency, otherwise they would shut down Coinbase. The US authorities want everything to be according to their rules and citizens to use only the "right" exchanges and blockchains. And all other companies that were unable to lobby for their interests will be thrown out of the US market.
626  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: U.S. Treasury Campaigning for Amplified Powers to Chase Crypto Overseas on: December 07, 2023, 02:38:43 PM
This is the right and responsibility of the world hegemon.
Unfortunately, this is the reality and we cannot do anything about it at the present time, but things do not remain as they are. One day the tables will inevitably turn.
I don't think the situation will change, because the new hegemon will do the same. But so far, besides China, there are no other countries to take its place.
But in an era of change, a lot of terrible events will happen, because the United States will not want to give up its power without a fight.

So I heard about what happened a while back with terra luna going down and also the stablecoin.  At the moment, what is the current price for the original terra luna and the stablecoin related to it?  I remember at one  point it was close to 100 dollars usd for the original coin but how much is it now?

If we talk about their stablecoin, then I am sure that this is speculation. The losses of stablecoin hodlers are huge, more than $5 billion, and no one is going to compensate for the losses. If the news reports that the price has returned to $1, then it’s time to sell.

"Head of division says half of active crypto cases involve tax
Money laundering was top issue three years ago, Lee says

The Internal Revenue Service crime unit that played a leading role in the Binance Holdings Ltd. probe is seeing a surge in cases involving crypto-related tax evasion, according to the division’s leader.

Three years ago, the vast majority of the active crypto investigations — upwards of 90% — involved money laundering, Jim Lee, chief of the IRS’s criminal investigation division, told reporters on a call Monday. But in the past year, about half of the digital-asset probes have involved tax, he said."

Don’t swear that the link is from Bloomberg, but it’s true. The US authorities cannot accept that they cannot control cryptocurrencies

How much does it cost to consult a good lawyer in Europe?
Investments are private information, and a lot of data should not be published on forums. Most likely, in every country you can find a way to safely invest in cryptocurrencies.

In Russia, such issues are resolved very simply. My 78 year old relative can say that this is his wallet and his bitcoins, and no one will bother to punish an elderly pensioner. Even if he is called to the tax office or the police, he will become ill there and will go to intensive care in an ambulance. And then there will be a lot of complaints to the prosecutor’s office, after which the tax and police will quickly lose interest.
634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Perhaps new problems for Tron on: December 06, 2023, 03:16:22 PM
Does this mean that the TRON network will face serious problems and the possibility of being banned?

I personally rely on USDT on the Tron network for most of my money transfers. I send Bitcoin from my wallet to the exchange, then exchange it into USDT Tron, and then send it to a local broker to convert it to a local currency because this is the only way available in my country.

Yesterday I saw an advertisement on the Telegram channel of the financial brokerage I use stating the need to use a coin other than Tron, but I did not think that there were legal problems threatening Tron, such as supporting terrorism.
This is really disgusting, so what is a good stablecoin that has cheap and fast fees if Tron gets banned?
I would diversify Risks.
US regulators are actively cleaning up the cryptocurrency market for the Coinbase exchange, in which Blackrock has invested.
Coinbase has its own centralized ecosystem, base. From the point of view of regulators, this is the correct “blockchain”, and the blockchain throne is alien from Asia Smiley
635  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: U.S. Treasury Campaigning for Amplified Powers to Chase Crypto Overseas on: December 06, 2023, 03:07:17 PM

"Legislation could explicitly authorize OFAC to exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction over transactions in stablecoins pegged to the USD (or other dollar-denominated transactions) as they generally would over USD transactions," the proposal suggested, giving a reach into transactions that the document notes "involve no U.S. touchpoints."

Adeyemo doubled down on that idea in his Wednesday remarks, saying that non-U.S. stablecoin issuers shouldn't be able to use the U.S. dollar without "procedures to prevent terrorists from abusing their platform."
[/i]

i'm sure those procedures would involve hunting down and throwing foreigners in jail if they were abusing tether. the USA wants to do that.  Shocked

The worst thing about stable currencies is their connection to the dollar. There were many ideas to remove dollarization. This was very difficult at the present time, and all attempts failed and it seems that they will fail for a long time.

Through the dollar, the United States dominates the world economy and therefore has the legal right to pursue stablecoins that are linked to the dollar, and now, under the pretext of fighting terrorism, they are able to pursue any platform or Service or man outside the borders of the United States and anywhere in the world.
This is the right and responsibility of the world hegemon.
Suppose if China becomes the new world hegemon, although according to many analysts, the real economy of China has already overtaken the real economy of America, then China will allow some companies to issue digital surrogates of their currency?
The conditions will be the same so that these companies invest most of their turnover in the Chinese economy.
636  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Events that lead to the adoption of a spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 06, 2023, 02:56:02 PM
I would like to share my latest opinion on the spot ETF. The market is rising on anticipation of news about the adoption of a spot ETF, and I am selling bitcoins.
Although I myself wrote about the possible imminent adoption of a spot ETF, I do not believe that it will be resolved soon, although I do not rule out this possibility. When there is a lot of news about it, this is a signal for me to start selling. The reason why spot ETFs will not be allowed is because of the complete lack of regulation and many unresolved issues in this industry.
Although ETF supporters also have a strong lobby.
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 06, 2023, 02:47:52 PM
https://eng.ambcrypto.com/the-state-of-l2-networks-as-curtains-draw-on-2023/
"Тhe overall L2 sector reached an ATH in terms of daily active users.
Arbitrum outperformed other networks, but its token failed to see similar growth.
As optimism surged in the crypto sector, the Layer 2 [L2] space showed the most growth during this period. Notably, the daily active users on Ethereum’s [ETH] L2 surged to an unprecedented level, surpassing 800,000 at press time.

This remarkable growth signaled a rising interest and adoption of Layer 2 solutions, indicating a positive trend in the platform’s scalability and user engagement.

As more users turn to Layer 2 for enhanced transaction speed and reduced fees, the sector is poised for substantial expansion. This could result in a robust ecosystem in the coming years."

Co-founder and CEO of Cyvers, Deddy Lavid, has emphasized the need for heightened security measures in the digital finance sector."
639  Local / Альтернативные криптовалюты / Re: tornado.cash анонимность ETH on: December 06, 2023, 02:40:12 PM
640  Local / Альтернативные криптовалюты / Re: Polkadot - аукционы парачейнов on: December 06, 2023, 02:35:53 PM
