321  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / theymos implementirao 2FA na forumu on: December 22, 2023, 05:59:52 PM
Nisam bas bio aktivan ovih dana ali nisam primjetio da se spominje ovdje te mislim da je red da se podijeli ova dugo ocekivana novost jer ima nasih clanova koji ne prate Metu te im je moguce ova vijest promakla. Prenosim objavu u cijelosti.

Thanks to PowerGlove, who did 90% of the work on this, the much-requested 2-factor authentication feature has finally been added. You can enable it in your Account Settings, and then you have to give the code when logging in. If you don't have 2FA enabled, you have to leave the OTP field blank when logging in.

If you use the forgotten-password function, then there's an option to remove the 2FA. So 2FA does not provide any protection in case of a compromised email. Make sure that your email address is secure. If you don't want to set an email address, use something like yourUserName@invalid.bitcointalk.org; don't use a random nonsense email like y@x.com, since somebody might create that domain/email.

Let me know if there are any bugs.

Hvala theymosu a pogotovo PowerGlove na ulozenom trudu!

322  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: December 22, 2023, 05:41:57 PM
There is always a chance Coinbase card could end up similar like old Binance card, but I heard binance now have new partner for cards from Malta.
Care to share more info about Binance and new card partner, I mean is that just a rumour or a confirmed news? I am asking because I tried googling it but couldn't find anything related to that.

Even though, I am close to completely abandoning Binance even if they relaunch their debit cards.

323  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 22, 2023, 05:34:51 PM

324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Conference League 2023/24 Season on: December 22, 2023, 05:03:36 PM
but anyways they can wake up and become again a hard team to beat, like the surprises they gave when they destroy spurs in Zagreb a few years back.
Its not like they have a very good team in a bad form, they now have a mediocre team that is in a bad for =m and those two are entirely different things. They can't even dominate in Croatian league (something that they did for more than 15 years) so their performance in Confernece League is not a surprise and I don't expect much against Betis either.

I count myself into the category of people who don't think too positively about the Conference League because it feels like a competition that is organized just because there is more money to be made.
There is nothing weird about Conference League as throughout its history UEFA usually had 3rd tier competition, like for example Cup Winners Cup that went on for almost 40 years, or even UEFA Intertoto Cup.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger seem compromised again on: December 22, 2023, 04:45:52 PM
Ledger already lost its reputation when it introduced a recovery service meant to restore access to your seed.
They maybe lost reputation among more knowledgebale userbase, but vast majorify of their users probably never even heard about recovery service and what's even worse, they wouldn't even mind using it once introduced.

Lets see if Ledger will be able to keep up with the competition.
Unfortunately, situation is opposite and Ledger is still the market leader, despite all the mistakes made in the last couple of years and imho it will need a major breach for them to lose that spot.
326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What faucet do you use daily? on: December 20, 2023, 03:39:58 PM
I thought faucets are long gone. Anyway, Don't waste your time with those as there are many other better ways to earn some bitcoin.

The only time I use them was ~10 years ago when I heard about bitcoin for the first time and I rmember that solving those captchas was such a pain in the ass as my esyesight is not the best so I soon gave it up. And from what I remember, even then they weren't particuraly worth the effort (at least not for me).
327  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: December 20, 2023, 03:32:15 PM
what options do I have that I don't wake up to see my funds gone?
Crypto and coinbase?
Yep, that's pretty much it. I have irl friends that have both of those cards for years and so far they are satisfied with them.

I personally haven't decided yet what to regarding debit card, but at the moment I am leaning towards not getting any as I am relcutant to go through KYC on yet another exchange. At least not in the near future. Luckily I still have ways to easily sell bitcoin P2P so I am not in a rush to find something asap and go through KYC hassle once again.

328  Economy / Reputation / Re: First week on BTT on: December 20, 2023, 03:21:06 PM
Since this is one of those self-congratulatory threads and no one shared it yet, I guess I have to. Tongue

I am glad today and I wish to share with you my little achievement here on this forum
And what an achievement it is, being logged in an online forum for a whole week. *slow clap*.

But seriously, what's next, people celebrating that they registered on forum? At least this little merit fishing attempt didn't work as of yet.

329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger seem compromised again on: December 20, 2023, 01:26:37 PM
Good news for all those that lost money in recent hack (I hope no one here was affected) as Ledger just announced via Twitter that they plan to reimburse all those that lost their money ($600k). Plan is to reiumburse everyone until end of February 2024. I guess they realized that their reputation is fucked so know they are trying to smoothen things up.

We are 100% focused on following up to last week’s security incident, making sure incidents like this are prevented in the future, and that the ecosystem remains safe.

We are aware of approximately $600k in assets impacted, stolen from users blind signing on EVM DApps.

Ledger will make sure victims affected will be made whole, and are committing to work with the DApp ecosystem to allow Clear Signing, and no longer allow Blind Signing with Ledger devices by June 2024.

Read more:

We affirm our CEO & Chairman @_pgauthier’s promise to make sure victims who had their assets stolen on Dec 14th, 2023 by the attacker together with angel drainer are made whole, including users who are not Ledger customers.

We commit, by any way possible, including gestures of goodwill, to make sure this is done by the end of February, 2024. We are already in contact with many impacted users and are actively working through the specifics with them.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Conference League 2023/24 Season on: December 19, 2023, 04:34:02 PM
Well Betis droping from Europa League when they ahve the ticket in their pocket and lose it in the last part of the game against Rangers, and now they have a very fiercer rival in Conference League, the Dinamo Zagreb is not a joke, they are not in his best level but is a team who knows how to play at high level.
If that was Dinamo from a year ago, then I would agree with you that Betis will have a hard job, but unortunately that's not the case anymore. This summer Dinamo sold 3 out of 4 best players and the replacements were mostly bad (the only expection being Kaneko) so unfortunately I expect this to be an easy job for Betis (if they actually show up with their best team).

On the other hand, Real Betis vs Dinamo Zagreb is a tense match because in my opinion Dinamo Zagreb is still better than Real Betis and yes I want to see them go further through this round of 16.
How to tell me that you haven't watched any Dinamo games this season without telling me that you haven't watched any Dinamo games this season.  Cheesy
331  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk mixer ban, Altcointalk is active in that scope. on: December 19, 2023, 11:39:57 AM
I continue to believe that sites hosted on BRICS servers are more safe and provide more freedom.
Fair enough, but what makes you believe that? Are all those very liberal countries known for their freedom of speech (especially Russia and China lol) or some other reason that makes you believe that?

Reasons why most DEXs and casinos are not hosted in the U.S jurisdictions.
Are they maybe hosted in BRICS countries?
332  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk mixer ban, Altcointalk is active in that scope. on: December 19, 2023, 10:43:28 AM
Now if this BitcoinTalk forum is not allowed to conduct any kind of signature campaign, will everyone be active in this forum as it is now?
Of course not, my guesstimate is that in case of signature campain (and bounty campaign) ban. bitcointalk traffic would go down at least 90%, maybe even more. Everyone is aware of that (forum staff included), therefore I don't think that there is a big possibility of that happening.

If only the site was hosted on one of BRICS servers. Who knows.
Given their stance on bitcoin and freedom of speech in general, imho it would be even worse (e.g, people from Russia have to use VPN in order to access bitcointalk as its banned there) if site was histed in BRICS countries.

333  Economy / Speculation / Re: A big buying opportunity might be on the horizon on: December 18, 2023, 04:45:09 PM
SEC denial of the approval can cause crypto to crash massively, if the ETF isn't approved by January buckle up for a spiral run down the hill kinda market behavior.
I don't expect bitcoin to crash massively just because of potential ETF denial, in the same way I don't expect the huge rally (~$100k) in case of it getting approved,

The way consumers accept this bad news will determine how far Bitcoin can dip but understand that it's going to be a big opportunity to get more Bitcoin, do not follow the masses, as they can be easily lead astray.
Just a year ago bitcoin was  ~$17k meaning there was already a big opportunity recently to buy some cheap bitcoin and those who didn't buy then and had money ready probably woulnd't buy now if it dips harder, as they would be too afraid. But as that saying goes, everyone buys bitcoin as the price they deserve.  Wink
334  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 18, 2023, 04:02:19 PM

335  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My Dad got Crypto scammed (UFJPRO) on: December 18, 2023, 03:46:34 PM
What would you guys recommend?
Your father should take that loss as a lesson and move on. Its hard and it sucks, but it happened to many of us.

i found some lawyer sides, who take care of thoses cases. Is there a slim chance to get back the money?
Imho, chances of ever getting your money back or even scammers getting prosecuted are slim to none. That of course doesn't mean its pointless to get a lawyer and try, but you should be prepared to the fact that 99.99% your father will never get his money back.
336  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance alternatives on: December 18, 2023, 03:28:36 PM
no one can guarantee an exchange to last long. except those that are legal and licensed in your country.
Even those fail sometimes. Celsius was registered in US and we saw how that ended up, so in any case you shoulnd't trust exchanges for storing your crypto and should be mainly used for their primary purpose which is trading.

Trustwallet is owned by Binance as well, moving your funds from Binance to Trustwallet doesn't have any difference in terms of security since it's closed source.
While Trust wallet is indeed owned by Binance and it is a closed source, I woulnd't say that funds there are equally in danger as they would if kept on Binance. With that being said, Trust wallet is definitely a bad idea for a long term hodl but its not the worst for a multicurrency hot wallet where you hold up to $100-200.

337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: December 18, 2023, 03:22:47 PM
@Rikafip. However, the voters do not only consider the performance. They might also be considering their agenda, their politics and what statement their pick would make to the world.
Of course Academy has its own agenda and rarely awards Oscars purely based on the performance + it also depends on the amount of money film tudio invests in "lobbying".

Emma Stone is a white, American girl who is a good actress but Lily Gladstone is an American native who will certainly make a statement if she wins for best actress. This will open a storyline on how her people were persecuted, killed and moved from their lands by the American settlers.
True, those are all the things that Academy might take into consideration, but I also think that topic of "Poor Things" (afaik feminism) might also be attractive to them, and as AmoreJaz shown even Stake favors her over Lily Gladstone.
338  Other / Off-topic / Re: Translation tool doesn't work optimally on: December 15, 2023, 06:20:08 PM
My problem today is that I'm having trouble reading many posts because Google Translate is not working optimally for this forum.
You are using it to translate English posts into your native language, or translating from other languages into yours?

There are many threads and posts that are hard to read and a lot of text is lost when auto-translated. I don't know if this problem is only happening to me or if it is also happening to most users who are not native English speakers.
From my experience Google Translate works pretty good as long as people don't use idioms and slang but unfortunately that's often not the case which results in gibberish, like in your case.

edit

Translate today look very messy. This is about English to Indonesian and can tell you one example, see the image below:
Now I see what you are talking about, and I have to say that it never happened to me.
339  Economy / Reputation / Re: My Grandma is in a critical situation. Asking everyone for help. on: December 15, 2023, 06:14:10 PM
Is this just a coincidence?
I learned anything in my time here, that's that coincidences are very rare in these type of cases. Nice find btw!

@tjtonmoy  I am really curious to hear what you have to say about some of the things that FatFork mentioned. Why did you say that you don't know how to apply for a loan while you made one few days ago, coincidentally only a day before your grandma's stroke?
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: December 15, 2023, 06:00:34 PM
I will send once the fees are lower. Also, it might be yours already ehhehehehehehee.
Why bother with sending as I don't think fees will go down anytime soon. Isn't it more convenient for both sides to simply wait to see who wins and at the end whoever losses, sends BTC?  I honestly doubt that any of you will try to scam each other and effectively ruin your reputation here.

Regarding Emma Stone, from what I hear, she really kicked ass in Poor Things (I have to admit that I have a crush on her for a loing time, ever since Superbad  Grin). Can't for that damn movie to come to cinemas.
