I have a power rate of 6.8c/kWh. I was running 100% profit ratio prior to today. Today, I'm at break even, but a reduction in network hashrate could change that.
I count my miner cost at zero, because i used trading profits to buy them.
Mining gives me a fixed cost, or fixed monthly input towards an investment. I plan to hold for at least 7 years when I hit my retirement date. Kind of like my elected contribution towards a 401k.
I can take tax deductions by filing taxes as a business operation.
And it only one of my long term investments.

I'm at work now, I'll look into the network aspect tomorrow.
This unit is brand new. Arrived 7 days ago.
And, 3 of my 5 units are still under warranty. So I'm only running factory firmware/settings while still covered. So no overclocking for me. Also, I'm better with electrical than electronic, so I'm not comfortable messing with computer settings and programs I don't understand. #OPP (Old People Problems). BetaMax VCR was the height of my technical knowledge.
Edit: So I swapped out the Ethernet cable, using a cable known to be working fine with another unit. Then had another thought..... I initially assigned this unit a worker name for the pool that I had previously used for an old unit which I have since sold. Dont know if that could cause confusion with the pool. Assigned it a completely new worker name not previously used. Rebooted and so far we're ok. We'll see for how long. No crc reg error yet. It also read all the boards temp sensors correctly this time.

Thats kinda the plan. An extra 43TH is better than none. Miner was almost "free" with the account credit I had at Bitmain.
And with the power plan (described in another post somewhere) that I have..... my price per kWh decreases with the extra power use. Adding this miner dropped me from approx 7.2c to 6.8c.

Well, thought I had my issue under control with the temp sensor error. After multiple reboots, I reloaded the firmware. It ran a bit and threw the error. Then ran almost a day before the error. Ran another 3 days before the next error today. Did a few reboots with no luck. S17+ 70 So, being new, I plan to send it back for repair. But the other thing thats getting me, that Ive never seen in any other miner is this error: 2020-05-03 00:25:10 register.c:306:get_register: !!! reg crc errorWhether it throws the temp sensor error or not..... I get that reg crc error. Ive searched and cant find what it means. It will appear in the log hundreds of times, one after another. I just did another reboot, this time pointing it at a new pool. Dont see the reg crc error, but still giving me the temp sensor error on one board. Edit: nope. Did another reboot an it came back. So the pool had nothing to do with it. And we're up and running. So, to summarize....... after a dozen or so reboots, and factory reset, still randomly threw the error and dropped the board. Reflashed the firmware and it ran fine almost 4hrs til it threw the error. Did one reboot after that error, and it's running real nice 15+ hours and counting now. (And maybe I should start looking to miners other than Bitmain for less headaches) Edit: ran 20 hrs til it dropped the board this time.

I'm having the same issue. S17+ 70th arrived Friday. Unboxed and hooked it up and it ran fine for almost a day. Saturday afternoon, I notice its only running 40th. It's dropping a board, after a temp sensor failure-to-read error. I've rebooted it a bunch of times and did a reset on it. It's still doing the same thing. I'll probably try a re-install of the firmware today. If that doesnt work, I'll just run it at 40th on 2 boards til the halving, then send it back for repair/replacement. It was an "extra" miner that I got, paid for almost entirely with account credit. Here, you can see at the bottom of the log, it restarts fine and runs 70th.... then after a time period (sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes 20 minutes), it drops a board after not detecting a temp sensor.

What fresh hell is this? Ran fine for about 16hrs out of the box.... then I dropped one board due to the temp sensor error. Now this crc error. Been thru about a dozen reboots. Comes up runs all 3 boards fine for about 20 min, then drops the one. Does anyone know the CFM or any measure of airflow required by the S17+? Thank you.
IIRC, each fan is around 250cfm. Intake and exhaust run as a team in parallel. So an upper set and a lower set.... the whole unit should be moving +/- 500 cfm.

The miner arrived today. It was in Cincinnati yesterday, and DHL sent me a text with a link to pay a $49.23 import fee. (   ?). I paid that online yesterday. Doorbell rings today and DHL driver says they're running ahead of schedule. Will get it hooked up tonight. Edit: 5/2. Got it hooked up last night. Up and running just dandy.

Oh, I forgot to add two problems Ive had.
I overheated an s17e with bad air flow. It dropped a board and wouldnt detect one board until i did about 10 restarts. Then its been fine.
I also had an S9i last summer that did something (forget exactly what). But I disconnected the PSU, blew into the connectors like and old Atari cartridge, plugged it back in, and it was fine.
So theres that

I completed my order for an S17+ on Friday (4/24). ( Took some back n forth with Carol to get my account credit applied. Well i guess with most industries stopped, there should be some surplus.
Nobody is "FORBIDDEN" to go out. Some businesses are closed, but "essential" businesses are open. Power companies are essential, so they're still reading my meter and sending me bills. The terms and Conditions of the contract specifically say they cant change me extra for high usage, but they can drop me as a customer.
