Another thing I noticed with the S17+'s vs my S17e or S17pro..... the S17+'s boot up way faster than the S17e or S17pro.   

If I do a reboot, or point to a different pool, the S17+'s are back up in like 2-3 minutes, whereas the S17e and S17pro can take 7-8min

I am having some issues with these guys, honestly, they don't seem to be reliable AT ALL, looks like they are just S17 pro overclocked to their max or more of the same chips on the same hash board, I have two of these at the moment, one had an issue with the control board and I had to replace it, now the other one is having PSU issues, so in a nutshell, these have 100% failure based on my experience and luck, as for the T17+ a few people whom I know including philipma1957 reported issues with them too, so long stories short; stay away from anything (+)

The S17 Pro,  T17e, T17 are doing well so far.

Honestly, I am starting to think that I should switch to MicroBt, I don't trust Bitmain's quality anymore and I am almost certain these S19s will be even less reliable.

I'm experiencing the exact opposite.  My two S17+'s have been running flawlessly since day one. Excellent temps and fan speeds.  My one S17e has had a few hiccups here n there, dropping a board, dropping offline a few times.

Update:   We are now in mid-April.  The second power company has not cancelled me yet, or even contacted me.  I'm running 10k kWh/mo at an avg price of 7.03 cents per kWh.  If I can get another S17+ in from China, paid mostly in full from acct credit, the additional power use will lower my power cost to around 6.7 cents per kWh.

Nah, I'm not worried about the Virus. I'm still working in the public everyday. I was wondering if the shipping routes/product import supply lines have been interrupted or slowed heavily because of the virus.

It's only finding two of the three boards... this same thing has happened multiple times to multiple people.  Ive got a thread on it somewhere.    Mine ended up resolving itself with multiple reboots.     I think theres a glitch in the matrix, this is happening frequently to recent miners out of Bitmain, and I'm thinking a firmware update might help fix the glitch if they ever release one.

The oven and dryer are the only sources of 240V for most in US (residential).
Were you able to hack it? If so, recommend the needed cords/plugs. Thanks.
I was able to find a solution, but the costs are about $160-170.
Maybe there is something better.

There's plenty of 240v "sources" within your breaker panel.   

Why not just run a new 240v circuit(s), and do it the right way?

A 2-pole 20A breaker, some 12-2 wire, and the right outlet https://www.amazon.com/Leviton-5461-W-20-Amp-250-Volt-Receptacle/dp/B0050T2D56.

Then you can use the proper cords. 

I have one circuit per miner.

When I ran out of room in the main panel, I decided to wire up a 100A subpanel and put all the miner circuits in there

You are correct, I didn't know til you PM'd.  I stick to the mining section because that's what I do. I do visit the politics section once in a while to throw some old school common sense around.  
But I've found the mining section very useful and helpful for information. And I'll post anything I discover in there to add to the shared wealth of knowledge.

  I work full time, and trade stocks and btc in my free time.  Btc is just one of the many things I trade, so I give it as much attention as I do any single stock when I'm planning a trade. Well, maybe a bit more with the mining thing.
   

But who would've thought a 47 year old government employee would be investing in bitcoin. That's one more step towards mass adoption, some of us fudds are finally seeing its value.

   I can agree with most of those statement minus one.  Military.   As former USN myself, I have seen the positive impact that a forward deployed US presence has in the world. In the early '90's there was some mess of a coup going on in Haiti. Haitian citizens were fleeing the fight in droves, jumping on anything that would float and trying to paddle to our mainland.  Our USN and Coast Guard was saving them at sea and we turned half our ship into the crew-nicknamed "Haitian Hotel."  With several hundred refugees on board, we docked in Guantanamo where we could bring on more USN and USMC support by way of food, clothing, and medical care. On several deployments to the Mediterranean, we embarked on Humanitarian missions while visiting foreign ports, helping to deliver food to the poor in the area, and joining with other humanitarian agencies to construct schools and other stuff to help the locals. When disaster strikes, other nations look to the US military for help. We can deliver food and supplies within hours or days to almost anywhere in the world. And we often do so.
    Thats just the nice guy part.

I like the nice guy part, but don't you think that some of the US military expenses could be cut? For instance that whole F35 fiasco that's like a money eating and smoke farting monster. Think of the nice guy things this money could buy. More rescue ships, stronger coast guard, maybe some nice underwater supply facilities for submarines and ocean research, more space exploration...

Certainly there is a large amount of waste, failure and abuse in the military budget. But you were talking about cutting funding to Zero with the exception of some basic defense. R & D can be hit or miss, the F35 certainly is no different, but look how amazing the B2 and F117 programs were. Not to mention the B52 and how many years of service we've seen from that amazing program.

Iraq, we steamrolled them in 90-91. We should've left it at that. I disagree with continued presence in the Middle East mess. But thats another discussion, you were talking zero funding for offensive operation.  We did a heck of a job in Kuwait/Iraq the first time. And I'm sure the helpless Kuwaiti's were thankful for US intervention.

If I had to pay I'd include some various other departments because to me personally it's important that road are built and maintained, there's electricity, Internet. I'd surely support fire department and some basic healthcare, although I believe that healthcare and education should be private.

For me personally, the state should have money to provide all the basic infrastructure (city lights, garbage disposal, electricity, crisis management, basic healthcare like emergency services, CDC, but all the things like dental care, vaccines and such should be financed by citizens). There should be some money dedicated to research, space exploration, but I'd give 0 to the military and leave only basic defence forces and mostly stationary stuff like missile batteries, anti air defenses and such.

Aww shucks.  I'm honored gang.   I've only been here since Aug iirc, so let me tell you about myself, so you get to know me a little better.

You can refer to me as Bachelor #3.  I like candle-lit dinners overlooking the bay, long romantic walks on the beach, and snuggling up with that special someone in front of a roaring fireplace on the bearskin rug.  I consider myself a hopeless romantic, and if you pick me, I'll definitely show you a great time. .

Just kidding, but that gives you an idea of how old I am if you understood where that came from.

I have a full time job, and trade stocks in my free time, so I don't get in to the forum to visit on a regular basis.  Started mining btc in Aug as a boost to my retirement in 7 years, so I try to keep up with the mining section of the forum.

Thanks for the replies so far,  its run just fine all day today, no problems.  So I didnt touch it. Just monitoring every hour or so.

I live USA east coast, near Philly.  It my understanding they have a repair center in CA.

The + and e models have no power settings at all.... no turbo, no low power.

I'll keep monitoring and do the hard reset if it drops again.

Hey gang.

On my s17e 64, it'll run just fine for about two days, then it'll drop a board. I do a reboot and it recovers fine. Runs another 2-3 days, and drops a board again. Still under warranty. Any ideas if this is something I can remedy, or ship it out for repair?

But when it drops the one board, the italicized line reads:  Chain [2]: find 000 asic, ....

I'm not seeing any errors pop up when that occurs. My other 3 s17's have been running like a Swiss clock (Pro50, and two S17+)

Edit:  Bitmains trouble-shooting guide (mostly related to S9's) shows "make sure cables are good and properly placed" as a solution.

I noticed the same thing over the last several days.  Available units were drying up, and the S17+ started at 73TH , then they had one at 70th, and finally at 67th.   Thats the only thing available now.

My assumption is inventory reduction of the 7nm chips. Using slightly sub-par chips, that may have been set aside previously, to get them out of inventory before switching out to a 5nm product.

I still have a fair amount of credit holding at Bitmain, and another .1 btc set aside ready to spend for another miner, but seeing the available product diminish in quantity and quality, I suspect that there's something new on the horizon.
