Hello guys,
It is possible, on a computer with 2 hard drives, to use and update the same blockchain using Bitcoin Core?
The first HDD is a dual boot Windows 10 / Linux, and the second is only used for Bitcoin Core and the blockchain.

Hello. You can change the hard drive, but nothing more. The computer was under warranty for another 6 months. And yes, I was able to send it to Turkey. But the computer is already sold. Thx for your interest. |

MODOS : please delete this post. Hello, I am selling a 6-month-old mini PC (still under warranty), used as a full node. The PC is running Windows 10, with Bitcoin Core up to date at version 0.21.1. Specifications : - Celeron J4125 Quad Core - Intel UHD Graphics 600 - 6 GB DDR4 - 128 GB SSD (system) + 1 TB (BTC Core + Blockchain) - Windows 10 official - 4 USB 3.0 ports Just the central unit, no screen, no keyboard. The blockchain is up to date (it will not be 100% up to date at the time of receipt of course) and is not pruned (350GB). The item can be sent anywhere in Europe (except UK) and Asia. Price: $280/230€. I accept all Cryptos available on Binance (BTC is my fav). Escrow service is accepted. This picture is temporary, I will update it at the end of the week.  |

Bonjour,
je vends un mini PC vieux de 6 mois (encore sous garantie), utilisé comme un full node.
Le PC tourne sous Windows 10, avec Bitcoin Core à jour en version 0.21.1.
Caractéristiques du mini PC :
- Celeron J4125 Quad Core
- 6 Go de DDR4
- SSD de 128 go (système) + 1 To (BTC Core + Blockchain)
- Licence windows 10 officielle
- 4 ports USB 3.0
La blockchain est à jour (elle ne pourra pas l'être à 100% au moment de la réception évidement) et n'est pas "pruned" (350Go).

How is this different than Al just keeping control over the coins until he's ready to send them to Bob?
In both the "locked coins" system (without unlocking) that you are trying to invent AND in the scenario where Al doesn't send the coins, Bob never gets control over the coins at all.
Also in both the "locked coins" system (with eventual unlock) that you are trying to invent AND in the scenario where Al sends the coins eventually, Bob gets control over the coins when Al finally decides to let him have control.
The only difference is that in your scenario, there is a short period of time when NEITHER can spend the coins. I don't see how having such a period of time provides security to either party, since either could just wait out the time.
The purpose is to give Bob proof that Al has enough coins to complete the transaction, and to be sure that he won't spend them. I once had an annoying situation with someone who asked me lots of questions about the thing I was selling. He argued with me for days, only to tell me he didn't have enough money to buy. My idea sounded good on paper, but it is apparently very difficult to implement because of the way Bitcoin works (and is probably not the best solution). I also wished to respect the "without a trusted third party" credo of Bitcoin. My motivation was to provide proof that the customer is "solvent", especially for a busy person or a professional, rather than to provide better security. Wouldn't you just have the guy send the transaction, and then once it's confirmed give him the keys?
Same as above. This idea was designed to be used in a specific situation, with expensive goods, real estate, etc, most likely by a professional. This system also offered a way for the buyer to show that he has enough money, without sharing all the info/balance of his wallet with another party. You may say that this is not important because if the buyer does not have enough money, the transaction will simply never happen, but the advantage is to get this information quickly. Possibility 1: We sign the sale and I send a confirmation of the release.
Possibility 2: The sale does not take place and I automatically get my 10 BTC back after X hours.
Use a third party escrow who also know the things about property or whatever industry you are trading. You will send them the coins, they will hold the coins for your and the other guy. The escrow guy will monitor the activities from both of you. Once you two agree and satisfy with the deal then he will release the coins to the other guy or he will give you your coins back. There are no such lock system because who know you could misuse it. After having everything okay you still can sent those coin back to you instead of paying the seller. In my example, Albert's 10 BTC are already in Bob wallet, but locked for X hours, unspendable by Bob. If they are not in Albert's wallet, how can Albert spend them again? I imagine the lock having 2 options: 1 - If nothing happen, the 10 BTC return to Al wallet. 2 - If Al lock is cancelled, Bob can move the coins. If you are selling your house, you can sit around a table for 10 minutes before giving the guy your keys. |

Is it already possible, or can it be added to the Bitcoin code, to send blocked coins? Releasable under certain conditions?
A quick example:
You sell your house for 10 BTC. I am interested. You ask me a proof that I have 10 BTC. I send them to you, blocked, with an automatic return within X hours.
Possibility 1: We sign the sale and I send a confirmation of the release.
Possibility 2: The sale does not take place and I automatically get my 10 BTC back after X hours.

That's an example.
You can imagine that's a private network for McDonald's with a node in each of their hundred thousands restaurant all around the world.
Guys are used to Bitcoin Core, and they want something as familiar as possible for their employees. Speudo-anonymous, backed with Bitcoin, etc.
As I said that's just an example.
Is it possible to stop the block generation when mempool is empty?

Hypothesis: a private group wants to create a 2ᵉ layer blockchain to facilitate its internal payments. The aim is to keep costs as low as possible, as well as energy and disk space consumption.
Important detail: the network is centralized. To transfer BTC, you just have to send your Bitcoin to the private group address, and specify your other address on the layer 2.
To save disk space, when nobody uses the network, the blockchain is simply deleted.
For energy consumption and costs, the first idea is to keep the mining difficulty at 1 forever. The second is to stop block generation, without disconnecting the network.
My question is: Is it possible to stop the block generation when mempool is empty?
