thanks guys, but no reply really answers my question how this would look in detail Wink
2  Economy / Economics / Can online platforms like Youtube and Facebook really be decentralized? on: November 20, 2019, 09:05:49 PM

I started to learn about crypto two months ago. Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum etc. make total sense to me.

I can't, however, understand why it would make sense to decentralize large online platforms like Youtube and Facebook. Or let's say: I don't understand how this could work.

Bitcoin has a decentralized ledger where all transactions are stored. How would that ledger look for a decentralized Youtube or Facebook?

Or am I missing something? Does decentralization mean something different in this regard?

Thank you!

PS: I'm asking because I again and again read headlines that say something along the line of "everything will be decentralized".

an altcoin without github repositories... shady!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DXChain Token - pump and... ? on: November 11, 2019, 06:17:53 PM
this ain't a shitcoin (my conclusion after short review). what makes you think it is one?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / DXChain Token - pump and... ? on: November 11, 2019, 06:07:24 PM

See the latest pump: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dxchain-token/

It actually looks like a valid project with a great value proposition.

Anyone know more about it?

thanks!!! last to replies answered my question Smiley
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Distribution of coins across holders? on: November 08, 2019, 07:07:27 PM
thanks, but as said in my post, i'm aware of the fact that the data would not be accurate. still, relatively speaking, such data can't be used to compare coins.

9  Economy / Economics / Distribution of coins across holders? on: November 08, 2019, 05:10:22 PM
Is there a website where I can view the wealth distribution of BTC and different altcoins?

I know such data are only estimates (address != holder, exchange wallets, etc.), but would still like to get a feeling of how different coins are distributed among its holders.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is noone talking about V Systems? on: November 08, 2019, 03:44:51 PM
This must be the most high profile altcoin that noone talks about.

As a (wannabe) cloud storage provider, dapp platform, led by Sunny King, one would expect it to create more hype. But its reddit is dormant, it has relatively few followers on twitter, etc.

Anyone know why that is the case?

Well from what i have seen the old school group around here that knew that dudes name is long gone mostly.
that guy was like a shitcoin maker and famous P&D'er from like 2014? man thats even a little bit before my time on this forum
V systems got like no hype here when it was launched, and has been a ghosttown ever since.  IMo the coin was probably just sunny running out of money he made from b4 finally lol so back for more Tongue

Where did they go? I was also wondering... This forum used to be at the forefront of cryptocurrency. Now guys like me hang out here ;-)

I have a belief that usually when people are talking about something, they want to get rid of their bags and shill the project up on charts anyway they can, and when there's silence, it can be either lack of community or community that's on their accumulation phase.
I mean you don't want to shill the project when your bags aren't full. But to be honest, i've seen a lot of people shilling this. Just not a lot lately.

I don't own this coin Wink Stumbled over it when looking for a good investment opportunity. But didn't choose this one.

Thanks, I saw that thread, but it's the official one...
I was wondering why there's nothing from a community (it is really non-existent).
Sure, a community is not everything (see Apollo........), but I have doubts if not even reviewers look at V Systems.

Sad to see this project dying a slow death. Sure, some development here and there, but making money so that that all the small-amount-investors that jumped on the hype train will be rewarded? Nope. 0 chance. And any chance that this project will be adopted on a large scale? Nope. 0 chance. Competition is so far ahead.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Energi [NRG] Cryptocurrency for World Adoption | PoS | MN | No-ICO or Premine | on: November 05, 2019, 04:10:49 PM
Wow, this looks like the most elaborate scam I've seen in long (or ever).

Energi does offer 0 technical innovation, but is still hyped by its many followers. Care to explain?

Moreover, allocating 10% of coins to a mysterious "backbone" leaves the cryptocurrency vulnerable to exploits (what will prevent the founder from cashing out? what happened to the ideal of decentrality?).
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will Cosmos and Quant become a pair like Windows and MacOS? on: November 04, 2019, 07:38:48 PM
They both describe themselves as some kind of internet for blockchains.

Please explain to a non-expert: Can only one suceed? Or both?

And can a layman compare them to an OS like Linux, Windows, MacOS?

Thanks
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / let's dig into a shitcoin together (Dimension Chain EON) on: November 04, 2019, 11:53:01 AM
My current hobby is to look at new coins / tokens and decide whether they smell like shit or not (disclaimer: I only do this in the digital world).

Currently looking at Dimension Chain EON (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dimension-chain/) and their description looks like the result of an exam where you have to put as many fancy words as possible into one paragraph:

"Dimension aims to build a next-generation enterprise-grade blockchain network service, by using C.H.A.O.S. (hybrid consensus, dynamic node, and cross-consensus engine) and DeCommerce service framework (decentralized storage system, decentralized computing framework, and decentralized data trading platform). With the adaptive functionality of the multi-sidechain model, Dimension-X, Dimension aims to satisfy the needs of different business scenarios. It also features a community governance system, which aims to facilitate a more efficient and friendly blockchain environment and ecosystem."

But a look at their website reveals a team and, yes, indeed, also a plan. Scimming the whitepaper, however, leaves me more confused than I was before (now what do they want to achieve? decentralized commerce? some big data thing? something else?); and most importantly, they haven't published much code.

So after 10 minute looking at this coin (it's my goal to never need more than 10 minutes to identify a shitcoin), my conclusion: stay away from this one. I wouldn't say it's a scam, but a project that doesn't know what it wants and how to achieve it.

If you also had a look at this coin, please share your shitsights!

Moreover, I know that I might be wrong and if that's the case, I'm really sorry (and dumb).

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you follow developers, Lisk is booming, if you follow users, Lisk is dead. on: November 03, 2019, 11:37:34 PM
If you go back a few years and look at some of the topics here in altcoin discussion, you would find that Lisk was a hot one and there was a *lot* of hype around it before and after it launched.  I didn't quite understand what all the hoopla was about, but there were a huge number of members who were contributing to it if I remember right (it was a while ago).

And then Lisk just kind of fizzled out totally.  I hadn't heard anything about it in a couple of years until this thread, and it's one of those coins that makes me wonder what the hell happened to it...and op, I have no idea.  The developers no doubt still think it's a great project, but as always the market will tell you what the truth is.

I had to check the price on yobit.  'LSK' is the symbol for it?  It isn't exactly trading for a single satoshi, but the price and volume are both pretty low.  It probably could be considered a dead coin.

Yes, still has some volume and a "decent" price, but the roadmap (Lisk's ace seems to be some kind of SDK) is again and again postponed.
