1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: StrongU STU-U6 - X11 ASIC - Worst miner and company ever? on: November 25, 2019, 12:19:25 PM
Thanks for posting some screen captures and posting the performance you're getting. I've been told my units will ship by 30th November. I am getting extra units as compensation.
2  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: StrongU STU-U8 Pro , U6, & U8. DO NOT PREORDER on: November 19, 2019, 09:07:10 PM
Update:  Have seen proof of the u6 running.  It is 2000w at 440-460gh.  This is literally the definition of bait and switch scam.  No where near the specs we ordered.  This is becoming a joke. 55% more power draw and 35% less hash rate than what we ordered is utterly unacceptable.  Not even talking about the 4 month delay.

So they claim

Quote
Rated Hashrate
660G±8%
Consumption
1300W±10%

and in reality from 500Mh/w it dropped to around ~ 200?
Their site shows sold out and no price, how much did you pay for it?

The good part is that based on what I'm seeing you would still be able to make some profit even with those specs...if they do deliver.

Checking their miners, hmmmm
STU-U8 Pro  60Th/s 2800W  $800.00
Antminer S17e  64TH/s 2880W  $2784.00

Far too good to be true!

Because it is. Where are you getting the $800 price from as I'm pretty sure it must be a scam site. The official site is https://strongu.com.cn/

So if you don't know the story of STU-U6, StrongU was pre-selling this X11 Asic, since early this year, claiming 660GH/s at 1300W and Aug/19 release.

After delays, they only started delivering these in November. And they are now doing only 440GH/s at 2000W!!!!

50% less hash at 50% more power. Wonderful engineering feat!

As compensation for disastrous specs, they gave an extra miner for every two purchased. More power to burn!

The miner itself seems crappy. Three of my units keep re-starting every 15 minutes or so. There is no log in user interface to tell why its is re-starting. Complete crap software.

Avoid this company and miner at all costs.

Please share your experiences also.

Thanks

Hey

I'm just glad you've actually recieved one, I was starting to think they'd never ship. Fancy putting up some pics / video / UI screenshots?

I've not had any trouble with the tp-link plug, I had it running some different miners for a few months with no issues. It's handy to be able to keep track of the power.

I can't seem to connect via ssh, I just get

connect to host 192.168.1.118 port 22: Connection refused

any advise? Can you set these back to default settings? All the firmware links seem to only be applicable to writing USB pens, and not to a micro sd card.

Does anyone know how to control the fan speed as they're always running at max.

I can see in Auto Stop Miner there are 3 settings which I assume are fan speed related, but I can't work out what they do, or what to set them as.
Lower Fanspeed(in):
Lower Fanspeed(out):
Higher Core Temperature:

Anybody know of a smart plug that can be used with this asic for 240v?  This way it can be turned on and off remotely.

I'm using

More importantly, when are the orders going to be shipped?

Are you going to announce a compensation strategy to try and recover any credibility?

Can you at least update your own website with the new specs!

I've got 5 hosted. I know 2 of the ASICs have 2 hashboards not functioning, I know one is fine and I'm not sure about the other two.

Tbh it's been pretty hard to get them looked at as the hosting facility is pretty busy at the moment. I've asked for my pool to be switched to MRR so I can test my luck on some other pools when the hash isn't being rented.

I'm happy to try a pool comparison when they switch my pool over to MRR.

Is the latest firmware you mention the one I posted a link to?

I have several Zig Z1 pros hosted and they're nothing but a pain, with them randomly stopping and starting, and the hashrate being all over the place but averaging to be much lower than 13GHs.

Has anyone tried the updated firmware here and could let me know if it helps at all

I'm using nicehash, do people find things to be more stable on other pools.

how many Zig Z1 Pro you have hosted and do you have full control?
mine is updated with the last firmware and runs very stable with nicehash, but will never reach to 13ghs with all boards (11.5ghs is the average)

see my other post, i've been mining in some pools without problems. unstable hash is normal due to the difficulty in that moment of the coin.

if you agree, we can mine at the same moment and make a pool comparison to see which one pays better. i'm looking for candidates to do this and i will not be controlling your ASIC.
