1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: November 18, 2016, 02:39:40 AM
Something is seriously fubar on the Nicehash statistics pages right now -- and I hope I'm actually still actually accruing BTC and not wasting power. Anyway, today around 2-3pm (Pacific), not long after the 1.7.3.4 update went out for the NiceHashMiner, I checked my stats and suddenly had seriously crap results. I haven't even updated several of my PCs, so they're still running 1.7.3.3 (these are AMD cards). Equihash has been running on the CPUs for about eight systems in the meantime, and that is still (currently) happening, though I may have to halt that soon if profitability doesn't change. Anyway, eight PCs (twelve technically, but four aren't doing CPU mining and aren't on Equihash at all at the moment), all with different names. Stuff like "Garage", "Office", "3x980" and so on. All of the other algorithms show the correct miner names, but Equihash shows 0 hash rate and this is what I see on the miners:

Please fix this issue, because having eight miners showing "eqm1" and all with no hashrate is more than a little worrisome. Not that any of my PCs are going to be doing Equihash much longer at this rate, but it was a good two week run.

FYI, I can't get this to run on a Fury X card -- it never successfully benchmarks or anything. NiceHash miner reports the following if I just click "start" on Windows 10:

It worked fine on an Nvidia card, so I'm not sure if it's just the beta Crimson 13.3 driver, or something else, but honestly I don't have enough time to mess with it right now. Going to try a 390 and see if it's any better....
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] New Piggycoin (PIGGY) | New Piggyweek coming! | Buy with USD on: July 19, 2014, 11:10:25 PM
The reason, I'm still buying at this prices, is extremely low POS reward (inflation), even though it was an accident  Grin, and of course the developer (piggycoin)  Smiley.Just now someone dumped 1.5m coins into my orders at poloniex.
Heheh, actually that was me (was in a rush to raise funds for a Reddcoin arbitrage/pump). Don't worry, I'll be buying back in myself. Wink

I hate to sound like a broken record, but getting the online piggybank working should be a priority. Hard to speak highly of a coin when its website is broken in a key function. Then, develop the banking function so parents can use it to easily and conveniently pay kids for doing chores, getting good grades and so forth. Getting families actually using it will be a big step forward, as will developing educational programs that use it in schools.
Broken POS is not a good feature or anything like it. Basically all it means is that the coin was so hastily coded that one of the primary aspects of the currency doesn't work right, and what's more it still hasn't been fixed (even though it's been a known problem for more than a month now). Why does this matter? Well, if there's no intrinsic reward for holding PIGGY (e.g. you don't actually get any noteworthy increase in holdings due to staking), the only thing that can possibly drive the price up is people wanting in. But why would they want in on a coin where the 15% PoS is broken -- e.g. if PoS interest is broken, what else might break?

All the people talking about how the community needs to not let this coin die... well, all that's doing is asking for someone else to pump the coin. And we all know what follows the pumping: the dumping.

As others have said, make the coin actually stand out from the other alt-coins and you will have something potentially worth holding. There are over 400 alt-coins these days, and many have all of the features of PIGGY plus additional features that PIGGY is lacking. Saying a coin is an educational coin is not the same as creating an educational coin.

Of course, the only education you're actually likely to get from cryptocurrencies is how speculative investments work, what it means when a coin gets pumped, and how it feels to be a bag holder. You can go do that with literally every cryptocurrency, of course: just go by a bunch of the latest flavor of the week (ViaCoin or ConcealCoin, maybe?) and watch how long it takes for a $1000 investment to turn into $100!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GRYF] GryfenCoin IPO X22+SJ, 100 Trillion+ Coins, Options Market, Fun on: July 18, 2014, 07:35:53 PM
What does X22 + Scrypt mean (and why not "X23" if you're adding Scrypt to X22)?

Assuming you grab all the unique algos from X14 and X15, add in Scrypt, and you're at maybe X18 at best. A nice list of the 22 hashing algorithms being used would be good.

BTW, I want to just state that the "more is better" mentality of X11->X13->X15/X14 is not necessarily a good thing in my opinion. Each additional algorithm simply adds overhead and that can be a problem on servers (e.g. pools and exchanges).

Here is more

http://www.wbcomtax.nic.in/General_Information/Deemed_Assessment_list2_web.pdf

Green Earth Systems mentioned on the official website of the Directorate of Commercial Taxes for the Govt. of West Bengal

Not to pick hairs but GES were the receiver of those goods, not the shipper.

Sorry you're right but either way it showed they have the capital to order 20 tons of leather.
It's a couple pages back, I know, but let me quickly look at this one.

The PDF specifically says this is for "DEALERS WITH TOTAL SALES LESS THAN RS. 3.00 CRORE". Okay, so how much is 3.00 CRORE? Apparently, 1 CRORE = 10,000,000, and we're dealing with Indian rupees. So, less than 3 CRORE means less than 30 million rupees. It's roughly 60 rupees to the dollar right now, so all we can say for sure is that according to this PDF (what year is this for?), Green Earth Systems had less than $500,000 of sales.

How does a company with less than $500K of sales back trades of urea worth apparently $7.5 million? And they had shipments of leather and girls clothing about a year ago, which proves... um... what does it prove?

Best case I see for URO at this point is that it turns out you can buy 1 ton of urea with 1 URO... only to find that shipping of the urea will cost you $300 per ton and it's not part of the contract. LOL
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: July 15, 2014, 04:30:58 PM
Hello community,

Sorry for the late responds but Paul and Myself are abroad and the internet is very poor here!!

Problems with wallet/exchanges
We checked the new wallet and for now it looks like all the problems where exchanges and not UTC.
We tested mintpal, cryptsy ( dont send big amounts yet ) and wallet to wallet etc... everything fine

Blockexplorer
We are busy with the blockexplorer and hopefully the Mysql error message will be gone soon

Multipool
We think there are meby problems with the multipool so please switch to the normal pools ( PLEASE watch that the Hash is spread nicely )

We cant reach Hayden ( multipool dev ) and Thiago ( normaal pool DEV ) is also on it!!! so lets hope that he isnt M.I.A

Overall
We are busy on the background with the minecraft plugin and getting information for the best way the new wallet will be coded!
- Full POSS
- Dark gravity
- Stealth Transactions
- Etc.

SO STAY TUNED!

Just a thought: when you post a new wallet and update the original post with the new link and version number, it would be helpful to also include a date for the update. Thanks.

FUDers are getting really desperate, saying the same exact thing over and over again (in bold text, as though that will help) without any evidence to back it up... While the dev has provided countless proof to substantiate his claims. When is the last time a coin provided as much transparency and evidence for legitimacy as this one? Are you guys broken in the head? Look around this forum and find one fucking coin which can corroborate itself as well as this one has. You've all been scammed so many times you don't realize what the real deal looks like anymore.

If this is all real, why are both those numbers dead? Go ahead, call them on Skype, pay a few cents, and post back here if you got anything other than a disconnected message or voice mail. Actually, post back if you call and got those as well, so people actually see the sum of evidence. Or don't -- just ride the pump and dump and hope you get out at the right time.

MORE proof Nilesh Nair is alive and well working for GES!

https://plus.google.com/108409924807462849672/posts

Look at the digital date stamp of the photo! You mean to tell me True Asset hijacked Nilesh Nair's google+ page and magically took a digital camera photo of him from  2 years back with a modern camera lol

beat me to it lol
Old photos of real people working at Green Earth don't prove that he is still at Green Earth and that GES didn't go defunct earlier this year and have the web domains acquired by a third party who is now perpetrating a scam. Show me a current picture, taken today, with True-Asset sitting in front of a pile of Urea holding a banner that says "I bought 12500 tons of Urea with 12500 URO!" Show me a real Urea company that has other orders for Urea that are on the ledger from this week that also shows a purchase of 12500 tons of Urea from Green Earth Systems. And as noted already: the company phone numbers are dead, ergo the company is dead.

Want to prove me wrong? Show that I can call the UK, AU, or HK numbers listed on GEScommodity.com (the same numbers shown on Archive.org for the pages) and actually talk to a real person that can have a real discussion about URO and Urea. And a good explanation for why all those numbers were dead earlier today but are alive again (if you can make that happen).

Thanks for playing.

Here's some more "FUD" for you as the price "goes up" -- more dumps incoming before a complete meltdown.

Urocoin: Scam or Legit?

LOL, Saying he'll shut down his blog if it isn't a scam shows poor judgement on his part.   The reward for being right is tiny, the punishment for being wrong is drastic.  Not a man who can assess risk/reward very well.
Not really -- I won't stop blogging, but I'll stop bothering with alt-coin blogs. The reward for blogging about alt-coins is tiny anyway, and if I'm proven wrong I'll be happy to say, "Gosh, I guess I should just stop worrying about alt-coins and get back to my other work...and my family."

We have some things in common, Commodore64 bro, so props, but your analysis of URO is pretty superficial.  Most of your points and concerns have already been answered multiple times.  The attitude you project in your post here is reflected in your sloppy journalism.  As a good rule of thumb if you're going to spend more time writing than researching, you're wasting your time on very poor work.
The photos can be created so easily it's silly. The only place any of this stuff is posting as news is on the site that we're saying is compromised. The real owner of the company isn't coming forward because the company went defunct six months ago, so why would he care? And if you think I spent more time writing than researching, I'm glad to know you've been stalking me and watching me comb through web pages for hours and hours all to write a 30 minute post. As a good rule of thumb, when the pump and dump starts collapsing and you've made your profits, defending a coin that will soon collapse is a waste of time. But I'm wasting time as well, mostly because... well, popcorn. You know. I'm watching from the sidelines shaking my head and wondering how much longer the charade can continue.

So you were attempting to make a dramatic statement when the reality is it won't matter to you.

Got it.
No, it's that I view the risk as acceptable -- certainly a better risk than trying to ride the up/down waves of URO, not to mention I really did make phone calls before posting. When a supposed business has 6 for 6 lines disconnected, don't you think it's dead?

GES Twitter Account is LEGIT - Check tweets' history!

URO is LEGIT!

STOP FUDs!

This +1
Buy out domain name -> Control email -> reset Twitter password -> you have a "legit" Twitter account with years of history.

That doesn't change the fact that the account was dead for basically 1.5 years of course.

Idiots, the company is still registered but with insolvency notice

https://creditorwatch.com.au/express/asic/organisation/132561132/GREEN-EARTH-SYSTEMS-PTY-LTD

This has already been refuted several times.
No it has not. The shell of the company was purchased after they went insolvent, so of course the company exists again, but they are not the same company, team, etc. Way too easy to forge/fake all of the info on that site. Go try and buy a CCTV system from them if you doubt me.

Serious question: do all you pump and dumpers get together to plan this, or is it organic? Someone finds a coin to push, promotes it, creates some hype, and then everyone else jumps on board? Volume trading breeds more hype, people try to get in, price goes up a bit more... and then the big dumps start coming. POOP!

No, they posted in Feb 2014, one picture. Before that is a post from Feb 2013. The next post after Feb 2014 is in June 2014 -- five months of nothing, and now suddenly they're posting several tweets a day. Good try.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][URO] A Real Long Term Currency: 1 Uro = 1 Metric Tonne Urea Fertilizer on: July 10, 2014, 10:02:03 AM
So here's the thing: Bitcoin has had billions of dollars invested into it over a period of 4+ years. Those who got in early were more or less taking a chance, but Bitcoin was the FIRST EVER CRYPTOCURRENCY. None of us would be here were it not for BTC. The value of BTC lies in the fact that people believe in it, but that belief came slowly and not in a matter of days, weeks, or even months. Hey, if I had believed in BTC properly I would have never sold/traded BTC back when it was in the single digits, and I'd be a freaking millionaire. URO on the other hand is just one more alt-coin among hundreds. Why do we need it?

BTC isn't tied to a commodity or anything, but if nothing else, it is backed by hundreds of thousands of ASICs that combined produce over 120,000 TH of computational power. Let's just say that everyone is using state-of-the-art 1TH rigs that draw around 1000W each and they cost $2000 each. (This is a low-ball price, of course.) That would mean in hardware alone BTC is backed by at least $240,000,000. But really, most of the hardware backing BTC cost at least 4X as much as what I just quoted, so it would be more like $1 billion. All BTC combined is still worth $8 billion (and change), so the value isn't just in the hardware but in the services and the entire ecosystem.

How much hardware is backing URO currently? By my calculations, it's around 145,000 MH/s, so assuming we go with reasonably fast R9 290 GPUs that will each do 4MH, that would mean 36,250 GPUs worth ~$14,500,000. Not bad, but it's clearly being driven by the current hype and represents a large portion of the GPUs mining right now. And of course the price is crashing. If it goes down too far, all of those GPUs move on to a different coin.

Some questions (that won't really be answered by anyone to my satisfaction, I'm sure):

1) Why was the Twitter account for Green Earth Systems dead (inactive) from Feb 2013 to Feb 2014 where there was one post, then nothing until June 2014 and suddenly it's all about Urea. Only thought: the account was hacked? Company was bought out? I don't know. Oh, and the account is following 1745 people and being followed by 362... odd for a big business Twitter account to be following that many people, no?

2) Green Earth Systems is involved with commodities, IT services, CCTV, renewable energy, and some other items. URO and cryptocurrency seems a very odd fit, but let's run with it. The main site used to link to many other sites (gescommodity.com, http://greensoil.com.au/, http://gesrenewable.com/) but doesn't now. Many of the links on the new http://greenearthsystems.com.au/ are broken -- e.g. browse to Security Systems->Automation. Could be just a major overhaul of the web sites, or it could be that somehow the server got compromised, or the site was purchased and created as one big scam.

3) Still the biggest: who is backing URO that is willing to guarantee 1 MT of Urea for 1 URO? Why would they do this with a new coin, no premine, and basically dump millions into the coin in the hope that it will eventually (within five years) be worth 20% more? We still need documentation, with pictures and major (real) sites talking about URO and not just one specific site. But of course, that can all be forged/faked if needed. Basically, only greenearthsystems.com.au seems to know about the URO/Urea connection. Even the main PR dude isn't divulging anything pertinent, just calling anyone that doubts a "fudder". Yay -- I'm a fudder I guess.

Right now, "we" are generating more than 5760 URO per day. At the current price of 0.025 BTC that's around $90,000 per day in new URO. Compared to the 3600 BTC being created daily ($2,250,000) that might seem like a relatively small amount to absorb. The problem is we still have this claim of 1 URO = 1 MT Urea, which means at some point we're talking about $1,728,000 of URO daily. All for this odd purpose of getting agricultural folks to use cryptocurrency. I just don't buy it, or at least not much of it.

I bought my $5 worth at 0.033 BTC per URO, and I have lost money now (oh noes!), but I'll point a few mining rigs at URO for kicks and just hold. If 1 URO ever equals 1 MT Urea, I've already earned a bunch of money! /fantasyland

The price is still very low.
Low compared to what? BTC? This whole thing reeks of scam, and it's right in the subject line of every post.

A Real Long Term Currency: 1 Uro = 1 Metric Tonne Urea Fertilizer
The only way 1 URO = 1 MT of Urea is if 1 URO = ~$300. Why would you create a coin that people are mining where it costs about $2 in electricity at the current rates to generate 1 URO? Again, I refer back to Guarantcoin (GTC), where 1 GTC was going to be worth some small amount of actual gold. Supposedly someone had kilograms of gold ready to back the coin... except they didn't and then the coin fizzled. Isn't that strange? I mean, backing a coin with gold would be awesome (Cryptonomicon shout out)! But it doesn't really work when people are generating the coins for essentially free.

If you want to tie a coin to a commodity, you're going to have to do a 100% premine first. Then and only then can you control the price, supply, etc. If they were to create 1 million (or 10 million) URO and declare each was worth 1 MT of Urea, and the only way to buy URO would be to pay the $300 going rate of Urea, maybe -- MAYBE -- it would work. Except no one would be willing to pay that much for a coin unless there was some way to prove it was worth 1 MT of Urea, and so it still fails.

Also: why does anyone involved with the distribution and sale of Urea want to conduct transactions with any cryptocurrency rather than, say, USD? Because it's unjust the way the price fluctuates? Hardly. The problem is supply and demand. If an area wants 20 MT of Urea and only 10 MT is shipped to them, the price will increase. If another area has 50 MT of Urea but only needs 20 MT, the price will drop. The real cost in all of this is the distribution of Urea. It's trivially easy to digitally transfer 1 URO (or 1 BTC or whatever) to another person. Now even supposing they have 1 MT of Urea available, getting it to you is another matter entirely.

Have some popcorn, watch the collapse of the URO scam, and then subscribe to my newsletter and ask me what I think of a coin before investing money into it next time. Then you'll save a lot of heartache at least. Of course, most of the time the advice is simple: don't invest more than you can lose, and don't believe the hype. And stay away from IPOs and premines and things that are "too good to be true", like URO.

Um, no... but there is about 80 BTC sell wall at 0.05, while the buy walls keep moving down because people are selling into them. Time to take your profits (or cut your losses) and then watch as this all falls apart.
