I understand the need for the new policy, and hope it will achieve the desired effect.

By 'desired effect', I mean increasing the signal-to-noise ratio in the main forum.

Just wanted to clarify that.

Right, as long as the noise is limited to the newbies forum it keeps the main forums much cleaner without all the crap posts like 90% of the stuff in here.  You gotta do what you gotta do.

Yes but doesn't the requirement of having a certain number of posts in the noob forum before posting elsewhere cause the noob section to have this prevalence of worthless posts (much like the one that I just wrote here)?  ;\   ....but of course.

If you are in the US craigslist is a possibility.

"This is the only problem that I can see in the Austrian way of thinking. And in fairness it seems like a much better problem then having your wage purchasing power stripped away from you every year through inflation. It just doesn't seem to promote longevity in the career of an employee.  "

Wow the OP raises a good question I had never considered re: a stable currency or a currency that experiences long term deflation like that which happened during the 1800s within the US.

But the inverse could be said to offer no job stability as an employee that was working within a market where salaries where appreciating rapidly, would most likely desire to leave his/her present job for higher pay given rising rates within a particular market.  This type of job shopping happened during the 90s within the tech boom.  Those that had been at a job for a long time where often being paid much less than newer people waking in the door.

In either case I believe this is remedied (as previously mentioned) by the employer and employee working out salary and job responsibilities on a contractual basis at set intervals.

I use eligius as it allows port 80 access which works being behind a firewall for part of the day.  Haven't tried ssh tunneling yet.

Do any of the other pools offer port 80 access?

Brutus here.  Noobaliscious all the way.

Started this weekend with DiabloMiner (most excellent work - well done) and eligius pool.

My little msi notebook with radeon 5850 mobility gets about 105 mhash with stock clock speeds.

eligius port 80 seems to throw a lot of connect errors.

Glad to be here and I am not Batman.
